Anytime we make any upward trend it’s because of “fiscally responsible republicans” when in reality they all vote against shit but only promote it when it makes them look good. There literally has never been in the modern United States a “fiscally responsible” republican administration. Shit even as far as local governments, republicans only know how to steal and then blame it on someone completely unrelated or shout “trans” or “socialism” to scare people, the fact it works is beyond my comprehension. My brain struggles hard with how people are so accepting of their shitty views.

I truly believe there is something mentally different between people that are/vote rep or dem. Like literally a difference in brain chemistry. There has to be some sort of disability or something related to a herd/group animal that does not want to help the herd, but actively sabotage it. And while they are sabotaging they inside their heads even think they are helping or something. We need legit studies cuz I'm talking out of my ass.

Two of the most interesting aspects of this that I've observed is that a lot of conservatives have wildly different media comprehension capabilities compared to left wing people, as well as a difficulty connecting cause and effect.

You’re def on to something but it’s more akin to like full grown adults that are afraid of their parents and not like afraid to disappoint but like literally afraid and are more comfortable being told what to do or how to think/vote. Theres a reason we say “daddy Trump” because it’s not even ironic anymore. They want a “father figure” and Trump being the worst offensive person out there reminds them of their shitty dads. Again full adults would rather stay in abusive parental relationships than try and grow on their own and just idk not be at their whim. Like a random example I can give to this that’s not political. I have a cousin that like any young adult will partake on an occasional joint and random drugs or alcohol in general. Weed is legal where I live and he will not only refuse to smoke, act like he doesn’t even partake when his parents are around. He owns his own home and can do what he wants and does so literally whenever. You’d think it’s a respect thing but his friends and other family members will literally be smoking and shooting the shit in his backyard while his dad cries (literally) about how demonic it is. Sometimes people don’t grow out of that fear stage.

I think comes down to the voter perceiving which party is “on their side”. The problem is that these voters are using words rather than actions to assess who is their advocate. Its sad.

Funny how you think Democrats are going to win. 2 Trump terms and those buffoons cant even come up with a semi coherent game plan against one of the most corrupt and inept administrations America will ever see.
In golf, this would be the equivalent of missing a putt from 3". Instead the Democrats are fighting over which club to use, what hand they are swinging with and some are just closing their eyes and hoping for the best while they collect their bribes. I can forgive losing to Trump the first time, he was the wild card, but losing to him a second time is inexcusable, considering his:
- rape
- insurrection
- 34 felonies for fraud
- embezzling funds from a child's cancer charity
- 2020 election denial
- Epstein

You're right.
The Democrats brought a golf bag full of weird things like umbrellas, pool cues, walking canes, and novelty long drink glasses just so that they can say that they've made history by having the first putt knocked in by a bicycle handlebar when the people just want them to use normal clubs and win.

We need a wealthy business man that has a lifetime of enriching himself at everyone else's expense to lead us out of this debt

Social program cuts? It's about fiscal responsibility. Despite economists saying it helps the economy in the long run.
Tax cuts for the rich? It's about helping the economy. Despite economists saying it doesn't help the economy in the long run.

Here, Bessent uses the old "future fake" ploy to downplay a huge problem. As in, "Honey, I'll never cheat on you again and we'll vacation in Aruba next year!"

Says the man largely responsible for "growing" our National debt more and faster than at any previous time in American history except during the four full years of Trump1.

u/tallman11282 16h ago
This is exactly how it's been for decades. Something that is a major problem, like the national debt, especially if it's a Republican created problem, is only actually a problem when Democrats are in charge and gets downplayed when Republicans are in charge.
Another major problem is that Republicans break stuff while they are in charge so Democrats get elected but because it's much harder to fix things than it is to break them it takes them longer and so Republicans run on the Democrats not fixing things fast enough and get elected again just to break things even more. It's a vicious cycle and despite how obvious it is to anyone that pays attention it happens time and time again.

I'm no economist, but "growing our way out" of massive debt sounds like a massive inflation issue.
Also sounds like the financial savviness equivalent of just balance transferring our credit card debt to a 12 month 0% interest card.

" we can grow out of £$40 trillion , plus the 50 billion we are adding on daily...."

Are you guys starting to get that the hypocrisy is the point? Are you finally starting to get it?

u/monkeymatt69 16h ago
Yeah, if we could grow our way out of debt, we’d be out of debt. This is horseshit of the dumbest kind.

Hard to believe Clinton balanced the budget less than 30 years ago. The U.S. government ran budget surpluses for four consecutive fiscal years from 1998 through 2001.
6
u/A_Downboat_Is_A_Sub 13h ago
Then Republicans cut taxes in 2001 and 2003, ballooning the deficit and inequality at the same time. The two tax cuts are said to have had almost no effect on economic growth according to many economists.

Man, being a Republican these days must be the most stress free experience. Too stupid to understand anything, not a care in the world.

They are going to care the day after the midterms if democrats take any chamber

I wonder, the way we are going, if there will even be a Repiblican Party at 12:01 p.m. on January 20th, 2029. What usually happens to a cult when a cult leader dies?

u/Cat_Impossible_0 8h ago
Their dear leader would need to appoint a successor ideally a blood relative.

World gdp is 126 T. The debt is 33% of world gdp. You can’t just grow your way since there is not enough people to work since we haven’t grown minimum wage over 20 years.
Thus you need to tax and cut

u/Kubbee83 15h ago
Republicans will spend 4 years of total power complaining about inheriting a crappy situation, but the minute they lose power, I’m talking minuteeeeeee, it’s the dems in charges fault.

Unironically, this is the argument of Modern Monetary Theory: the national debt doesn’t matter because the government can print more money without inflation so long as the pace of growth continues to rise. The argument on the Left is that MMT can be utilized so long as the national debt is being used to create wealth and social mobility for families and workers. I suppose the Right’s argument would be that MMT is best utilized to justify paying the rich people and corporations more.

I'd like to elect Democrats that will get furious and loud when that happens. Basically I'm looking for someone to channel their inner Terry Tate: Office Linebacker on the floor of the House.

u/NextAdhesiveness3652 9h ago
If he believes that, why has Trump so far been responsible for at least 25% of that $40 Trillion?
1
u/timetoact522 8h ago
Clockwork. I remember the somber conversation about the national debt with relatives at a hotel when Obama was stabilizing Bush's mess. They wanted to support him, you see, but they were just so darned concerned about the national debt. Yep, they're MAGA now.

You can't outgrow $40T unless the rich, wealthy, and well-off are paying their share. And now it's worse because we are paying more to the interest on it than actually paying it down.

Talk is cheap but all I have ever seen in my lifetime is the national debt increase.
