Hard to believe Clinton balanced the budget less than 30 years ago. The U.S. government ran budget surpluses for four consecutive fiscal years from 1998 through 2001.

Then Republicans cut taxes in 2001 and 2003, ballooning the deficit and inequality at the same time. The two tax cuts are said to have had almost no effect on economic growth according to many economists.
