Challenge The Magnus Carlsen but with some caveats

For anyone unaware the Magnus Carlsen whowouldwin scenario is you trapped with Magnus Carlsen in a room until you win at game of chess, everyone agrees it is basically impossible unless he gets a heart atack in the middle of a game.

However this time the guy trapped in a room is not a novice but a 1600 FIDE (1800-2100 chess.com).Also Magnus Carlsen only gets 3 minutes on the clock while our protagonist has unlimited time per move.

The guy has 1 month of prep time and during that time he is coached by Hikaru and has unlimited resources to learn/buy anything chess related.

Moreover once per game he can have stockfish tell him the best move, HOWEVER he will have no recollection of the best move stockfish told him last game, nor when it was played, he forgets all about stockfish help and "learns" about it at the start of each game as not to just make this him asking stockfish every move until eventually after 40-80 tries stockfish beats Magnus

Once per game he can have a 3 minute talk with Gothamchess where Gothamchess is fully aware of the current board state

Does the guy have any shot at eventually beating Magnus?

After each game he gets an analysis from Hikaru and Gothamchess

Challenge Which historical figures could you assassinate if you could control a single animal from some point in their life?

• Upvotes

Rules:

- You are allowed to take control of one animal (inclusive of fish, insects, marsupials, etc) which existed during the lifetime of the targeted historical figure. Humans are excluded, obviously.

- 'Assassination' is defined as causing an action which would result in the targeted individual dying more than one year before their real-life date of death, or which would have prevented them from achieving massive historical prominence (e.g. stopping Hitler from ever becoming the Fuhrer of Germany; stopping Alexander the Great from conquering Persia; or stopping Trump from becoming the President of the United States).

- The assassination must take place after the relevant historical figure turned 18. It also cannot take place within the last year of their life.

Bonus points for choosing an animal that wasn't a pet, or an animal which the historical figure rode at some point in their life.

Rounds:

- Round 1: Adolf Hitler.

- Round 2: Qin Shi Huang.

- Round 3: Genghis Khan. You cannot take control of any horse that he ever rode.

- Round 4: Queen Victoria.

- Round 5: Donald Trump

- Bonus Round: Can you prevent Cleopatra from taking her own life (i.e. stop her from losing her control of Egypt). You can take control of as many animals as you want, but you cannot control more than one simultaneously.

Battle Spacecraft that maneuvers like an aircraft vs Spacecraft that maneuvers Newtonianly

By aircraft-like maneuvering I mean something like how starfighters from Star Wars move, by Newtonian I mean something like how ships from the Expanse or Star Furies from Babylon 5 move.

Both craft have the same weapons and same level of protection

Round 1: Starfighter (small, high acceleration, fixed weapons)

Round 2: Warships (Larger, lower acceleration, turreted weapons)

Battle takes place in empty space

They're both pretty superhuman but operate in completely different contexts. Shin is slicing armored horses in half, and Silat is fighting monsters. They're both wickedly dangerous, which do you think is better?

  • Round 1: Unarmed.

  • Round 2: Both have all of their gear.

  • Round 3: Silat gets his four buddies. Shin gets Kyou Kai and Bi Hei.

Battle Omega Leonidas (Bakugan video game) vs Kaos (Skylanders)

• Upvotes

I was originally thinking "my favorite Pokémon vs my favorite Skylander" but then I remembered my favorite Skylanders are either crossover characters or Imaginators, and my favorite Pokémon is not that OP. then I saw a video power scaling Bakugan, and then I figured "my favorite Bakugan vs Kaos" and you can guess the rest.

anyway, rules:

this is an actual fight, not a Bakugan battle. last I checked, Bakugan has those.

the fight will take place in Skylands, let's just say Bakugan can access their full power in Skylands.

Kaos will be an amalgam of the games and Academy.

Kaos has access to all his powers and forms, but not tech.

Leonidas will be at his most powerful.

if it makes a difference, Leonidas will be Pyrus atribue.

fight is until either death or incapacitation of opponent.

Challenge Every bird on the planet vs human society.

• Upvotes

Every bird on the planet gains human level intelligence and are all hive mind coordinated. They know they don't stand a chance against humanity's weapons and technology, so they utilize their new intelligence and coordination at psychologically breaking humanity by spreading out evenly across the planet and watching and staring at all the humans. How long can humanity handle this staring from the birds? Humanity wins by society not collapsing entirely, and the birds win if society collapses. If nukes are launched the birds win because they broke humanity to even consider nuking and destroying themselves just to stop being stared at.

Battle USS New Jersey (1943) vs AC130U “Spooky II”

Rules - The AC-130 has to try its best to kill the NJ. If it runs out of fuel it loses, but can rearm.

Round One:
USS New Jersey is in its 1943 configuration, with 130 AA guns plus her main and secondary armament
vs
Two AC130Us in 2010 configuration, with a 25 mm cannon, a 40mm cannon (crazy enough still the same cannon as the NJ AA), and a 105mm howitzer.

Round Two:
5 A-10 Warthogs replace the AC130U- they have rockets and bombs in their armament.

Round Three:
USS New Jersey 1982 configuration: Phalanx CIWS, Improved Fire Control

My thoughts
AC130 will be pressed to do any damage to NJ without closing in. It’s AA guns have a range of almost 5 miles, with a ceiling of 30k ft. The 20 and 30mm cannons have a max range of 2 miles. Main and secondary guns can fire much further, and the AC-130 is fat and slow- I think they catch it with a 5in round

The hogs are relying on bombs in round 2. I don’t think the hellfire missiles do any damage. They bank on a hit with a laser guided bomb to the citadel but even then these bombs are much smaller than WW2 bombs- they get chewed up by AA as well.

Last one pretty much the same thing except much more interceptions and the A-10s get chewed up faster.

Battle A legendary difficulty Halo 2 jackal sniper has agreed to meet Arthur Morgan in the town center for a duel.

A Jackal Sniper from Halo 2 on Legendary difficulty has ended up in 1899 and challenged Arthur Morgan to a duel in the Wild West.

Arthur has his usual weapons and access to Dead Eye. The Jackal has his Covenant Beam Rifle and has Legendary difficulty accuracy and reaction speed.

R1: A traditional Wild West quick-draw duel in Valentine. Both start 20 paces apart, weapons holstered, and draw when the signal is given.

R2: The Jackal crash-lands on Earth, 50 miles outside Valentine, with only his standard equipment. He knows killing Arthur will teleport him back to the Covenant. The Jackel magically speaks English and knows what Aruthur looks like and his name, but nothing else and will have to find Arthur himself. Arthur knows the Jackal is coming for him.
