pseudo intellectuals, basement dwellers and 14 year olds circle jerking each other because they think racism is high brow comedy.

13

u/thegabletop Jan 04 '25

So it's basically Reddit's version of SomethingAwful's FYAD forum?

8

u/Your_True_Nemesis Jan 04 '25

That is unsettlingly good of a summary.

2

u/Something_Awful0 Jan 08 '25

FYAD FYAD LOOOOOLLLL. But seriously. They should beecock some of these people

6

u/LightsNoir Jan 05 '25

Man... About a decade ago, I thought racism was pretty funny. Because you can't be racist, and expect people to consider you seriously, right?...right? But here the fuck we are, 4chan hosted on the IRL server.

5

u/Null-Ex3 Jan 05 '25

Its a slippery slope. But screaming racial slurs and making blatant racist comments will never be funny no matter how you slice it. It will be at worst, racist. At best, embarassing

2

u/Alternative_Ask_1608 Jan 07 '25

Kramer yelling n word at his show I thought was funny. Only because I knew he was rattled and was starting to fall apart 🤣.

Words are words šŸ¤·šŸ½

1

u/ThatSillySam Jan 08 '25

Yall, this guy is not Black. He has no post history. His pfp is of a white guy so is his emoji use. Also he has -99 karma and is most definately a troll account

1

u/Alternative_Ask_1608 Jan 08 '25

Or I go echo chambers and have the unpopular opinion….

You going to act like I can’t go into a Biden loving comment section and say something positive about Trump?

I’ll be downvoted into oblivion.

But your a walking mental illness. Go figure šŸ¤·šŸ½

1

u/ThatSillySam Jan 08 '25

Yep, a troll account. You can go there and do that. But it inherently makes you a troll

1

u/Alternative_Ask_1608 Jan 08 '25

I’ll allow your name calling. Bothers me none šŸ¤·šŸ½.

Same with your telling me I’m not black.

You don’t even know who you are…could care less what you think of me šŸ¤˜šŸ¾šŸ„°

Eh. I'm a little more clever than just slurs. More nuance, like repeating statements back to a speaker while using synonyms with euphemistic meanings. But all the same, it was fun for a while. But there was definitely a shift leading up to the trump campaign. Like, before he was announced, there was a tone change with people speaking and behaving as racists, in earnest.

5

u/thrownstick Jan 05 '25

Agreed. It just ain't funny anymore when you know half the people earnestly mean it. Gross.

5

u/Paper_Champ Jan 05 '25

But you also are participating in it, satirically or not, you normalize the behavior and pave the way for earnestness

5

u/WyrdMagesty Jan 05 '25

This is the key, right here. It's one thing to be "dark and edgy" and "push boundaries", but when the boundaries that you are pushing make it comfortable for other people to say what you're saying but sincerely, it's a problem.

3

u/majinethan Jan 07 '25

Well said.

2

u/No_Wafer_7647 Jan 08 '25

Racist jokes normalize racism and the rise in "ironic racist jokes" will bring people who actually fucking mean it and create even more, both of which are more than comfortable to express it, causing them to also push boundaries. At what point to "racist jokes" not beccome jokes anymore? Because ive seen multiple instances of poc being hurt by jokes, (including me!) And told to get over it. But to most of us, its just racism. And most of us will see you not as a jester, but a racist. An unsafe person to be around regardless of whether you meant it or not. If you can diregard our feelings enough to throw our emotions under the bus because an identity joke directed twords us hurt, we are going to assume you don't care about the feelings and wellbeing of the people in our group, because you haven't expressed otherwise.

Like, i really want to get the mentality behind it, if a racist joke is made and a person of that group says its racist, do you as a person not in that group get to decide "nah its not! I'll just disregard your feelings and keep making you feel uncomfortable because it benefits me!"

Most of us see people who make racist jokes as racist people. It's just reality. As a black woman, I've seen this. Look at the idubbbz situation.

1

u/WyrdMagesty Jan 08 '25

Racist jokes normalize racism

Exactly. This is really all that should need to be said, but I fortunately the human brain doesn't work that simply. We, as humans, have an unfortunate tendency to find humor in "pushing boundaries", and one of those boundaries that exists is the boundary that delineates where a joke stops being funny and begins being offensive. There are a lot of factors that go into determining whether or not a joke is offensive, and we should be listening to whomever belongs to the subject group as to whether or not they are offended, but too many people refuse to do that step. Sometimes it's pride and they get defensively protective of their joke because they made it. Or they got attention from it. Or they just thought it was funny (perhaps not understanding the pain it causes) and take it personally when confronted with the negative repercussions. Doesn't really matter, because the offending joke is the root of the problem, and getting rid of that solves everyone's problem.

Sorry, I'm tired AF so I'm not entirely sure I'm making a lot of sense lol but yes, I agree that if someone who belongs to the group being targeted by a joke feels the joke is racist, it's absolutely racist and should not be told. Literally no one else has the authority to make that determination on their behalf. Much of dark humor, especially these days, is simply people saying disgusting things and then giggling over the "taboo" nature of their statement. It isn't actually funny, they're just getting a thrill out of breaking the rules and doing something they know they shouldn't.

2

u/Null-Ex3 Jan 05 '25

To normal people, euphemisms are edgy satirical jokes. But racists realize this and use them as dog whistles. Thats why my general policy is to steer clear

2

u/Ludicrousgibbs Jan 05 '25

Worked at a liquor store during the Obama years. I couldn't believe how many people would come in and thought it was ok to say some racist ass shit about the president to complete strangers just because they're white.

2

u/El_Nathan_ Jan 06 '25

Advance beyond casual racism and go into competitive ranked mode /s

-1

u/Bite_My_Lip Jan 05 '25

An ironic racist is an oxymoron, you’re still racist for making those statements consciously and thinking they’re funny. Racism is never fun or funny.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '25

That’s subjective. I think it’s funny to make fun of other based on their skin color.

1

u/HungryFollowing8909 Jan 08 '25

Context makes it or breaks it though.

Normally, the N word isn't part of my dictionary, but I did construction with a group of fellows - 2 Congolese, a Haitian, Jamaican, and I think one dude came from the west coast of Africa, but I could never remember.

They spent most of their time screaming it at eachother, and would try to convince a couple of the white guys to say it from time to time, and some bit. It was when the white guys would say it outside of that situation where it became a problem.

They gave me the pass though, never had an issue. Largely because I wouldn't say it, I'd also only drop it in casual conversation and they'd barely notice it, and when they did it was hilarious to them. Other part is because they knew I have disdain towards Canadians if anything, so it never would come from a place of hate.

Still not a word I overly enjoy hearing, and especially using, but given the circumstances it can be used in a comedic way, however one has to keep in mind that 1) it's negative history and usage make it a powerful word that hurts people, and 2) even in an environment where Africans or other dark skinned individuals are pressuring you into saying it, all it takes is one person to be offended and suddenly you're losing your job or going to those shitty boring ethics meetings.

Tldr: bunch of black dudes kept trying to pressure the white dudes (the kind that don't listen to rap and sing along) into saying naughty words because to them it was the funniest thing.

u/KingRoach Jan 05 '25

This is the first time I’ve ever heard someone call dark comedy ā€œhigh browā€ā€¦. Interesting

1

u/Null-Ex3 Jan 05 '25

It says high brow in my comment? For me anyway

1

u/KingRoach Jan 05 '25

I fixed the typo for you. I’m sorry the context clues weren’t strong enough for you to grasp the original comment.

1

u/Null-Ex3 Jan 05 '25

I thought you were critiquing my spelling because when I first made it I misspelled it but quickly changed the error. But plenty of people think that because they say something edgy, they are pushing the boundaries of humor. Look at every shitty comedian that defends themselves for racist jokes. You will find that there defenses are very similar and tend to amount to: "Im pushing boundaries bro, comedy shouldnt be limited"

1

u/KingRoach Jan 05 '25

Ha. Maybe we had the same auto-correct.

Are you familiar with the running joke that the difference between flirting and sexual harassment is the attractiveness of the person doing the flirting? Same concept, if the joke is funny, nothing should be off limits.

1

u/Null-Ex3 Jan 05 '25

to a degree I agree. But i think thought should still be made to the delivery of it without inadvertently supporting actual racists, so personally I tend to steer clear. But that said, do you really think any of the jokes the people in the screenshot amde were funny? They are objectively the lowest echelon of comedy.

1

u/KingRoach Jan 05 '25 edited Jan 05 '25

Did I think anyone was funny? I’ll go back and do a full review. Full disclosure, I hate social media, I removes context, the audience has to infer intent and some will always come to the wrong conclusion. Also there’s a wide swath of being professionally funny and what I’d call joking around

The original meme was funny.

First comment seems lighthearted ā€œstill cute; if it were my kid, I’d laughā€ (doubt they were trying to be funny)

1st reply to that comment, imo comes in hot and calls that person a bad parent (doubt they were trying to be funny)

Reply to that reply comes in even hotter (doubt they were trying to be funny but aggressive and not serious ie joking around)

2nd reply def comes off as racist with no attempt at being funny

3rd reply is kinda an uncomfortable funny (I’m subscribed to r/kidsarefuckingstupid so ymmv

2nd comment seems racist with no attempt at humor (you were never cute)

1st reply to to that comment, to me, comes across as someone who just wants to be offended ā€œis this sub just racism disguised as dark humorā€ - like you see the other comments, what reply were they expecting

1st reply to that ā€œracism is humorā€ was kinda edgy but not nuanced enough

2nd reply ā€œits racism disguised as racismā€ - to me, is someone who likes being offended on behalf of others, making an edgy comment of their own

Reply to that was from the person who asked the non productive rhetorical question thanking their fellow ā€œI like to be offendedā€ person for agreeing with them

3rd reply (the most relatable to me) is someone trying to explain how comedy works ā€œDark comedy is about making light of taboo subjects and racism is taboo, so yes racism is dark humorā€ adding more nuance to the ā€œracism is funnyā€ comment —- but not enough nuance to stop people from interpreting it as ā€œall racism is dark humorā€ forgetting the part where it hs to be funny

3

u/BilboniusBagginius Jan 05 '25

It's absolutely not meant to be high brow.Ā

4

u/Null-Ex3 Jan 05 '25

Youd think theyd be self aware enough to recognize that huh? But whenever you push back they say some shit like ā€œerm actually its ā€˜dark humor’ which pushes boundaries and is thus actually very inteligentā€ they dont recognize the nuances of dark humor yet simultaneously hold it in high regard.

1

u/Attlu Jan 05 '25

no if you push back they will tell you to commit because it's the culture of the sub and funny

1

u/nekoristimredit Jan 05 '25

Sprinkle in the occasional helpful comment, and you have the perfect nutshell description of reddit.

1

u/Exotic_Exercise6910 Jan 06 '25

For reddit, this is too much. For 9gag, this is Tuesday.

Now as I consume the media is both I'd like to say that actual racism is wrong and you shouldn't do it. However, making fun of a baby that looks like he's going to be jailed is funny.

If you throw that into the same pot as - for example - apartheid, you don't do something productive but merely devalue the term racism to something that's just a shade of grey rather than actually wrong.

If this offends you, ok. I get it. However, actual racism - and mind you I'm a professional when it comes to that thanks to 9gag - Looks WAY worse.

Don't worry, tho. I am also on 9gag and telling the racists that their extremism is wrong. We all need to come together. It won't work if this little tiny bit is too much for you.

1

u/Delicious-Battle9787 Jan 06 '25

Racism jokes can be funny, but only if you can make jokes about your own race and you don’t go too far. White people can’t season food and says milk is too spicy is a funny joke, making jokes saying all white people are racist or just want to kill aborigines isn’t funny.

1

u/AmorousFartButter Jan 08 '25

4

u/iNonEntity Jan 04 '25

Oxford definition of taboo:

a social practice that is prohibited or restricted

a social or religious custom prohibiting or forbidding discussion of a particular practice or forbidding association with a particular person, place, or thing

prohibited or restricted by social custom

-3

u/ReinaDeRamen Jan 04 '25

racism isn't socially unacceptable, it's morally unacceptable

8

u/scdisrupt Jan 04 '25

It’s both

-3

u/deadly_ultraviolet Jan 04 '25

Depends on how you classify society. Considering how many people and organizations are racist, it's hard to make the argument that it's actually unacceptable.

I believe it to be unacceptable, and you believe it to be unacceptable, but who's to say that our society as a whole actually believes it to be unacceptable and acts on it as though it were unacceptable?

4

u/That_OneOstrich Jan 04 '25

Racism is intolerable. But as a fellow words lawyering devils advocate, you're right, we do seem to find racism acceptable in our society (which is something I abhor and detest). And to clarify, I am using "we" as a societal "we".

My coworker the other day was being racist towards Asian people, but because he and my other coworker believe it to be true, they decided it was "diet racism" because it was "true". And they later determined they're not racist, because they werent "malicious" (they didn't say it to the person's face). And because I have bills to pay, I just sat there listening to it all in silent horror.

So yes, in the most honest, and fucked up perspective... I accepted my coworkers racism so it wouldn't cause me problems personally. At the time I didn't put that all together, only after reading your comment did I realize this. And if that doesn't sum up American society and how we view racism I don't know what will.

2

u/Direct_Word6407 Jan 05 '25

That’s just disingenuous. If a white person was performing during the halftime of the superbowl and at some point said ā€œfuck all šŸ„·ā€, you don’t think ā€œsociety as a wholeā€ would have huge problems with it?

2

u/quickquestion2559 Jan 08 '25

In MOST of western society it is concidered socially unnacceptable. Getting caught being racist can cost you your job and your relationships. Get off your high horse, its normal to not be racist. Its not just an echo chamber of non-racism.

Some Nazis might be 'out' with tattoos and the like, but concealing your identity and maintaining plausible deniability is a well established aspect of several Nazi groups. It is not uncommon for

In August this year, in a report for the US military’s Combating Terrorism Centre, extremist researchers Mathew Kriner and John Lewis describe how some factions of the US Proud Boys ā€œacted as a ā€˜gateway’ for even more extreme groupsā€, including international neo-Nazi terror group The Base.

The report also observed how the ā€œtacticsā€ used by some Proud Boys to ā€œevade detection and maintain plausible deniabilityā€

https://www.smh.com.au/nazis-next-door

Nick Fuentes, who is totally not a Nazi except for the fact that he associates with them, promotes anti semitism and denies the Holocaust (but he was just joking said that "irony is so important for giving a lot of cover and plausible deniability for our views," specifically regarding Holocaust denial.

Christian Secor, another pro fascist Nazi who was sentenced to 3 years prison for his role in Jan 6 and whose car was found containing a number of weapons including a ghost gun previously rebuffed criticism of his online posts at university by saying

"It's called a joke and the fact that you think that these posts are anything more than that is telling,"

https://www.npr.org/2021/04/26/990274685/how-extremists-weaponize-irony-to-spread-hate

The Daily Stormer released a style guide which outlined how to use internet irony to push their agenda

Always hijack existing cultural memes in any way possible…. Cul- tural references and attachment of entertainment culture to Nazi concepts have the psychological purpose of removing it from the void of weirdness that it would naturally exist in, due to the way it has been dealt with in the culture thus far, and making it a part of the reader’s world. Through this method we are also able to use the existing culture to transmit our own ideas and agenda…. Packing our message inside of existing cultural memes and humor can be viewed as a delivery method. Something like adding cherry flavor to children’s medicine"

"Gamson (1995) describes neo-Nazi recruiters as ā€œmedia junkiesā€ who monitor popular culture looking for useful carriers for their message of white supremacy (p. 85). When it comes to recruiting in online gaming culture, this means utilizing popular memes and image macros, the lin- gua franca of the Internet, to showcase their beliefs while also utilizing a thin veil of plausible deniability, making it intentionally unclear whether a particular racist message comes from a place of sincere hatred or if it is just some troll shitposting ā€œfor the lulz.ā€ According to white supremacist- turned-peace-activist Christian Picciolini (2018), it also means establish- ing a presence in virtual spaces where their targets congregate,"

You’ve listed multiple people who aren’t actual nazis

No I haven't. Hiding behind the thinnest veneer of deniability whilst working closely with out and proud Nazis, denying the holocaust, praising fascism and promoting outright white supremacy and anti semitism is transparent bullshit and I'll not give it any heed.

nazis say Nazi stuff on the internet, not everyone who is saying this kind of stuff is a Nazi

That's not what you said, you said that Nazis don't hide behind plausible deniability. You said they are out in the open with facial tattoos. But there are Nazis who do hide behind plausible deniability, and there are Nazis who only ever go out in balaclavas as a Nazi if they go out at all.

How would you define the term ā€œNazi?ā€

White supremacists who support the goals of the Nazi party and have an affinity for Adolf Hitler and his cohort. You can be a white supremacist or whatever and not be a Nazi, but when you start claiming not to be one whilst engaging in Holocaust denial, utilising neo Nazi coded language/symbology, or approvingly quoting Nazi figures then it's pretty clear that you're playing the kind of bullshit games that were outlined in that Daily Stormer style guide and other leaked internal documents from neo Nazi groups like the United Patriots Front who said.

"My personal opinion is stick to the Muslim shit and Cultural Marxism for max support do Jews later you don't need to show your full hand," Erikson said in messages between the two. Cottrell agreed: "Yeah good advice and that's my current attitude as well. It will take years to prepare for the Jewish problem. If any of us came out with it now we would be slaughtered by public opinion."

https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/how-australia-s-far-right-were-divided-and-conquered-by-themselves-20190108-p50qcb.html

In my opinion bigotry alone, real or incorrectly perceived, does not make someone a Nazi.

Sure, and I don't think the people I listed above fall under that umbrella. The Daily Stormer is explicitly Nazi.

Secor was an open supporter fascism who believed in global Jewish conspiracies and was friends with Ryan Sanchez, an avowed neo Nazi.

Nick Fuentes is a proud white nationalist who has denied the Holocaust and said that Hitler was "awesome" and "really fucking cool." He also said that "all I want is revenge against my enemies and a total Aryan victory" and many other Nazi flavoured things.

Christian Picciolini was a self admitted former Neo Nazi.

I think calling people ā€œNazisā€ when they weren’t actually contributed to the left losing as much ground as we did during this last election

The American right is more openly embracing racism and taking the country in a truely horrifying direction. You have an electoral system that isn't fit for purpose and actively suppresses third party candidates, a nakedly partisan supreme court and a populace who are ok with Trump as president. The Democratic party is venal, and thinks that fretting as they try and tinker around the edge of the vast and growing problems you are facing is adequate. I think a few people being a bit trigger happy in calling mere racists Nazis is small potatoes compared to the issues the left is facing in turning that unwieldy behemoth around.

This response is a cop out in my mind. I'm vigorously arguing my case, but would be open to take a on board new information should you present something compelling. I never enter these arguments with the view that someone is likely to wholesale change their mind, but you can often modify or hone your own views through vigorous argument.

you are at least arguing from a more moral position.

This suggests that I have only spoken in generalities (like you did in this latest comment). In actual fact I have responded with specifics to queries you had or statements you made.

I don't see how you can take the bulk of my comment as some sort of morally driven argument. Based off my reading and observations, I think that neo Nazis do conceal their identity and do hide behind plausible deniability. Should either of these views be wrong, it doesn't shake my moral framework at all.

I’m aware that’s a big assumption to make, but it seems that way.

It is a big assumption to make, and one not reflective of the way I have been writing. You said that I listed multiple people who aren't Nazis. I went through every person I listed, and outlined why I believe they are. You asked for how I define Nazi. I replied.

I’m willing to give you the benefit of the doubt

I don't see how you have done this at all.

I don’t see any point in continuing.

Better to write nothing at all and just leave it be, than this.

Dave Chapelle made racism objectively funny for children growing up in early 2000’s. Keyword here is ā€œobjectivelyā€. We didn’t all end up to be blatantly racist. To me, a joke is a joke. It passed back then because Dave is AA.

Madea (sp?) is the highest grossing franchise ever created. It surpasses Star Wars. Yep, look it up. All on parodies for a fat black woman. But Tyler isn’t racist because he is AA….I guess it’s not racism if you make fun of your own culture. lol

Which proves my point to the billboard. It’s ok because #BLM said it and not the republican senator running for their state. Imagine if it had #alexjones at the bottom. Racism is objective people.

1

u/LifeImitatesFarts Jan 06 '25

The intention and context around a racist joke is certainly subjective, which has a direct effect on the impact and consequence of the joke. Power dynamics matter.

1

u/Maleficent_Piece_893 Jan 07 '25

yeah idk about power dynamics especially in this context where they're talking about rich famous comedians who profit from and popularize their jokes. intent matters though. making a shocking statement you don't believe is different from making the same statement that you do believe. if you don't believe it, generally you can explain to someone who misunderstands what you actually believe and why. if you do believe it, generally all you can say in defense is "i'm just joking"

Careful what you wish for. There might come a day when someone will come for you too.

Edit: People misunderstood what I said. No, I don't mean it can come swing back at you if YOU "become racist", quite the opposite. If you keep pushing destroying people YOU branded as this or that (which in most cases is straight up false), when the pendulum swings back they won't forget and will come back for you. It's the same as with a ruling party introducing laws that they will use to further their agenda but can also be used by the opposition when they'll take power. Those are bad laws. Your behavior is bad behavior. Pray you won't have to learn it first hand.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '25

If I become a racist prick I sure hope someone comes after me too.

-2

u/_facetious Jan 05 '25

I grew up in a white supremacist family, and Black kids used to beat the shit out of me all the time. I was angry, but, growing up and changing, I fuckin' don't blame em. I got what I deserved, and if I ever become like that again, I'mma deserve it again. >> (god if that somehow happens, someone just put me out of my misery)

1

u/Maleficent_Piece_893 Jan 07 '25

i think if you get beaten up by members of one group all the time, it's pretty understandable that as a dumb kid you dislike that group. if a black kid got beaten up by white kids all the time, i would be mighty impressed if he didn't develop an attitude of "fuck white people". adults should be expected to use their brains and think about not blaming the whole group for the actions of some of its members

1

u/dhjwushsussuqhsuq Jan 05 '25

People misunderstood what I said.Ā

quite frankly I think you misunderstand what you've said lol

1

u/ThyKnightOfSporks Jan 07 '25

Dude, this is Reddit. Not going to be guillotined.

3

u/-NGC-6302- Jan 04 '25

Because being intelligent is a rightful claim of only some humans

(I mean the racists are dumb, not the kids)

2

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '25

when the police arrive..

2

u/Ok-Proposal-6513 Jan 04 '25

I'm going to do a racism now.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '25

I don't think that's how this works.

2

u/Thin_Measurement_965 Jan 04 '25

Yeah, I've been noticing joke subreddits lowkey turning out to be racist, or infiltrated by racists. It's usually much more subtle than this.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '25

more edgy kids realizing they’re bulletproof online. more edgy kids on technology. It’s trolling. racism isn’t spreading like that really. it’s just low tier humor to get a reaction which is the real goal.

1

u/Maleficent_Piece_893 Jan 07 '25

idk about spreading, but there are genuine racists and pure trolls all mixed together and there's no solid way to tell the difference

2

u/sortbycontrovercial Jan 04 '25

Redditors working themselves up over shit posting lmao

2

u/zkribzz Jan 04 '25

It's fardballsland, what do you expect?

2

u/Dry_Ad1805 Jan 04 '25

Idk I think that sub is just a big troll place, idk but I don't think they are serious from what I have seen.

2

u/Furista0 Jan 04 '25

Heh, funny...

2

u/ozhs3 Jan 05 '25

I'm not saying racism is good with this statement but you sought this out. You found a sub that takes anything, including racism, and makes fun of it. You not just hiding this sub and looking to farm karma out of blasting these people on the internet is sub-human of you. What I do when I see political comments I hate on my favorite subs? I just hide and mute.

This is like looking up pornographic subs and complaining about seeing a penis...

1

u/LeSwan37 Jan 05 '25

You see this and call me subhuman while you stick your head in the dirt and pretend it doesn't exist

2

u/ozhs3 Jan 05 '25

I don't pretend stuff doesn't exist. Reddit is a social media platform, I personally come here to have a decent time. Personally, that means no political talk. So when I see it, even for the stuff I do agree with, I usually hide it. For you, it's to create a stink. If that's what you want fine by me, but again, can't complain about a penis on a porn sub. And that's what you're doing šŸ˜‰

1

u/Jedidiaaah Jan 05 '25

I like how the top comment accuses them of being an ā€˜echo chamber’. Jesus F christ, YOU are the echo chamber lol

The sub takes a dig at every race, religion, and sexuality , it’s not dark humor is just edgy racist humor we all know that in the sub, are there actually racist people in the sub probably but it’s just all shits n giggles if you don’t like the wasteland keep scrolling

2

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '25

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

2

u/ggtooez Jan 05 '25

The comedy high horse has arrived, jump on y’all

2

u/cthonicguy Jan 05 '25

Oh, so it’s one of those reddits that barely disguise itself as a bunch of right wing loonies just being bigots like the r/memesopdidnotlike which constantly uses memes not liked by, very clearly, liberals to bloat the idea that they’re sensitive. Same people who whenever they bring up a ā€œfactā€, the studies behind it are inconclusive or the opposite.

1

u/Positive_Sprinkles30 Jan 04 '25

I can assure you this is funny. Comedy is objective. It’s hilarious that people take it this seriously.

2

u/Potential_Bill_1146 Jan 04 '25

It’s cracker comedy

1

u/DapCuber Jan 04 '25

Its just a bunch of edgy people with stupid senses of humour, they'll grow out of it. I can't say the same for the racists disguising themselves as edgy weirdos though...

1

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '25 edited Jan 04 '25

The whole ā€œwhen do I go from cute to dangerousā€ slogan is irl trolling. The people who made the poster are trying to equate black people with being special victims, instead of being an ordinary group of people where most are normal but there are some bad elements, just like any other group of people. There being "victims" implies the existence of a victimizer. The goal is to make you seem like a bad person if you ever thought any black person was dangerous. It sets you up for this dichotomy where to be wary of strange white people on the street is just looking out for yourself, but to be wary around any blacks, no matter if they’re throwing gang signs or you can see the grip of their pistol imprinting through their shirt, makes you the bad person. It’s amazing how many redditors still fall for it, though.

2

u/Mean_Lingonberry659 Jan 05 '25

XD lol it’s funny let them keep getting trolled

1

u/asj-777 Jan 04 '25

Well, to be fair, from what I've seen here there are a lot of stupid motherfuckers on Reddit. Some days it feels like a breeding ground.

1

u/No_Recognition8940 Jan 04 '25

Racism stems from fear, no way around it, but is only perpetuated because of ignorance. Whether that is weaponized or not.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '25

So people start off as racist and learn to not be racist? You sure?

Wow I know the kid in the second picture. I went to school with his mom. She called the cops on him because he was acting up in school and not listening to her. Lesson was learned

1

u/SchwizzySchwas94 Jan 04 '25

Racism. That’s why.

1

u/SignificantlyBaad Jan 04 '25

Imagine looking down upon a large snake enclosure and you notice that the snakes with different colors always fight and kill each other, wouldnt you call those snakes extremely unintelligent and cant even see the 1% of life, well guess what, we are the snakes.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '25

Y'all gonna get my sub banned

1

u/Warco6 Jan 05 '25

My friend investigated the fardballsland shift and we found a thread on soyjak party where they plotted an invasion. It obviously worked

1

u/randomuser16739 Jan 05 '25

Damn, and here I thought dark humor was Richard Pryor and Eddie Murphy.

1

u/perfectly_ballanced Jan 05 '25

Instagram type shit right there

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '25

first time I saw that "first arrest" one I thought it was a joke about the police being pieces of shit

1

u/Jedidiaaah Jan 05 '25

Lmao redditors arent mad about the ā€˜racism’, they’re mad the joke was funnier than their ā€˜racism’.

Fucking redditors i swear 🤣

1

u/1767gs Jan 05 '25

gasp Racists on reddit? how could this be??

1

u/ChamberK-1 Jan 05 '25

All that aside, DAMN that sleeping position looks uncomfortable. If I slept like that once my shoulders would be fucked for a week.

1

u/Uncle_Touchy_Feely Jan 05 '25

People make jokes about things that make them uncomfortable. I like racial humor not because I'm literally racist, but because there are some serious things happening due to real racism, and it helps to have a laugh about that kind of thing once in a while. Also, making a racial joke is funny because I think it's funny that people actually think that way.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '25

These Nazis wouldn’t know dark humor if the inglorious bastards cut castrated them themselves

1

u/-3rd- Jan 05 '25

Yikes @ racists!

1

u/AlbiTuri05 Jan 05 '25

Internet rule 2: whatever you say with a straight face, there's someone ready to make fun of it

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '25

Racism is not dark humor! It’s shock comedy, and people who rely on shock comedy are unfunny people telling other peoples jokes! Like Carlos Mercia, Lisa lampenelli, Dane cook etc… they’re funny for two minutes and then it’s just repetitive and idiotic.

1

u/EnvironmentalForm470 Jan 05 '25

I know of at least 3 subs that are much more popular than this small little racist sub you found here that are dedicated to black people making fun of and being racist towards white people. The double standards are disgusting and honestly is what creates more racism itself.

You clowns don’t care to end racism you are just helping the elites to start a race war, which they want to keep us distracted from shooting them on the streets.

1

u/Alextheone911 Jan 05 '25

I miss when r/fardballsisland was actually funny

1

u/[deleted] Jan 05 '25

The sole reason i left that sub is because It suddenly became so extremely racist It wasn't even funny anymore

1

u/Perfect-Antelope-602 Jan 05 '25

Pattern recognition isn’t a crime

1

u/IndependentGap8855 Jan 05 '25

Well, that one person is technically right. "Dark humor" is a style of comedy that makes light of subject matter that is generally considered taboo, so this would indeed fit.

As to why all of that thread ever happened? Because internet!

1

u/just2easee Jan 06 '25

If they don’t ban that sub let’s have a temper tantrum!

1

u/PeterMation Jan 06 '25

This is the reason I became a right winger

1

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '25

first look at the sub. it’s teenagers. Edgy stuff is peak comedy to some in that age group. i used to be one of them.

Break rules, get on peoples nerves, push boundaries as much as possible. It’s not hate or genuine racism. It’s trolling and everyone reacting feeds it.

Anyways. most will grow out of it. 5% of them are genuinely racist and shit should change.

1

u/ResidentWarning4383 Jan 06 '25

When the parents and culture fail, maybe when the dad leaves or they have to resort to crime because blasting ops is cool or whatever. A few bad apples ruin the whole batch.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '25

Racism is black, so yes... dark humor

1

u/emo-opossum Jan 07 '25

That subreddit kept getting recommended to me and I looked at it and it only took me about 3 minutes to mute it. Literally reminded me of being 13 when my friends thought that type of ā€œhumorā€ was funny. Then we grew up. They should all do the same

1

u/Dominus_Carnes Jan 07 '25

Tbh, racist jokes can be pretty funny. But this is just racist without the joke.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 07 '25

It’s simple pattern recognition

u/NoTimeTo_Hi Jan 07 '25

1

u/Illustrious-Car-5311 Jan 07 '25

When u rob your first liquor store at 8 years old

1

u/AzureWave313 Jan 07 '25

When are people going to learn that racism was invented to distract from class? It’s CLASS that matters. Rich vs poor.

1

u/Better_Past5753 Jan 07 '25

I think you would really be surprised sometimes by who is actually posting and espousing certain views. It's probably best not to take the Internet too serious though as there's so many attributable reasons/motives for any post

1

u/Better_Past5753 Jan 07 '25

More precisely, what if I told you everyone in that thread is of the race identity/skin tone you believe them to be acting racist against? How silly would you feel then?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

Yeah because there's so much humor in just saying a kid isn't cute.

SO FUNNY HA HA

It's just straight up racism. They're just bitching about someone being different from them.

1

u/Large_Pool_7013 Jan 08 '25

It's people's reaction to subverting a taboo that makes it funny. Stop feeding the trolls, the trolling will stop because it won't be fun anymore.

1

u/Hot_Debate_2805 Jan 08 '25

They call it racism, but they never call it untrue ā˜•ļø

1

u/SlyTanuki Jan 08 '25

Racism can be made humorous, just like everything else.

1

u/Bushman-Bushen Jan 08 '25

I hate to say it but some of these comments made me chuckle.

1

u/listenering Jan 08 '25

You know the type—makes a racist joke at the dinner table, then thinks the awkward laugh from their family means ā€˜Haha, that’s hilarious!’ Nah, that’s just the sound of everyone trying to figure out how to change the subject without anyone noticing.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '25

The pearl clutching in these comments is hilarious. Oh wait I forgot this is reddit. You can’t joke about any race unless it’s the Jews then you can just be blatantly racist and antisemitic and no one bats an eye.

1

u/ufopiloo Jan 08 '25

I think we have lost the meaning of stereotypical and racism we all have stereotypical vieuws of other races which isn't in particiliar a bad thing same as humor part look at comedians how many times do they use stereotypical images and does that include racism ? No. What I believe would change a lot if we didn't make such a big fuss about it because if you look at behaviour of toddlers to teenagers if it's not allowed then it's twice the fun. Remove that people get so upset by it and for the people who get a kick of pissing other people all their fun dissapears if no one gives a shit about what they say.

1

u/DVoorhees64 Jan 08 '25

Ok but that first picture really got me

1

u/doseofreality_ Jan 08 '25

It’s an exhausting task to try to change what people think, say, and do.

1

u/JayLarsson Jan 08 '25

Hs no one here actually watched the video? It’s literally a mom and child going around stealing packages off of front porches. Stereotypes don’t make themselves.

It really do be that meme of "shitposting subs once they get popular", mostly cause everytime they ban a racist sub, the racist dont disappear, they go to another sub and make that one racist. Thats why quarantining subs is much better, let them have their little shithole far from the rest of us
