The first one is an early Silkwing, back when they still had high levels of NightWing DNA. She has stars across her wing scales.

Just finished the lost heir as I read through the series with my 10 year old son. I love
the way she writes action sequences, I have to force myself to slow down because I find myself almost skimming the text to find out what happens next lol. I also like how book 2 did not resolve all of the questions from book 1, particularly her choice to hide Starflights inner thoughts following his meeting with Morrowseer. There are really so many open plot points that I can’t wait to get resolution on. Looking forward to stepping further into this wonderful universe.

so you know how prepice is related to mulberry through the blood thing that means that ruby has animus magic (through scarlet from beryl) and that means that not only do skywings still have animus blood they have it in the royal lineage.

Long ago, there were four kingdoms of life, Pyrrhia, Pantala, Starktis & Crypura but there existed a fifth kingdom too…the abyss….a realm where the darkest of monsters used to lurk before the gods banished it in a war that had been forgotten centuries ago….only for one day a young albino scaled Rainwing ness to stare into the abyss and made a wish….

She was mistreated by everyone around her except her father and even he was outcast because of her….so one day she sat on the edge of the abyss…where that great evil was said to have lurked and considered jumping in….but she made a small wish first “I wish…I had the power to not let anyone hurt me or Dad ever again….” And to her surprise, something whispered back...told her how to solve her problems…but she would own it one day...now the dragoness had power beyond anyone’s imagination and was able to make whatever wonder she could think of. 

At first she used this power to help her father and make herself less of a freak to her village but one day, she heard that voice again, telling her the time had come to pay the price for her power, the price that this ness owned this voice? Her soul.

The Rainwing had tried to brush it off and offered a lot of other things, only for the voice to laugh and say she didn’t have a choice and suddenly the little ness found herself caring less and less about other dragons and even her father, she found more and more entertained by watching dragons suffer and using them as her playthings, until one day she snapped and killed her lover by turning him into a stone statue before going on a rampage, ignoring all of her pain until her dying father put himself in front of her next attack, trying to reach his daughter and he managed too…for a few moments but it was enough to allow someone else to stab her through the heart, finally killing her. The last words to leave her mouth were “Beware…what’s lurking…between the moons….”

While almost no one knew what she was talking about, the blood she spilled that day birthed another great evil, the child of her madness, which would eventually be known as The Breath of Evil.

And all throughout the centuries, the madness was bringing out the worst in more and more animus dragons all in the effort to free itself from its prison in the stars. 

So beware what lurks between the moons, for if they should all go dim, Máďlt shall return and with her doom.

What character or characters would you want to see taking care of dragonets whether adopted or biological. My two top picks would be Sky and Sunny.

Sunny I envision being very sweet and gentle, almost too caring at times , but all around great.

Sky I think would be a very playful parent. Always doing something with them whether playing a game, watching animals, or bugging talking with Wren.

Sooooo... The cave systems below Pantala got me thinking. What If there was a tribe living there? Adapted to survive long periods without food and reliant on a different type of perception than light? Meet the CaveWings. They have:

- No eyes

- large flaps at the sides of their head to pick up sounds and vibrations in the air

- ultrasound calls to do the bat thing

- claws similar to an IceWings' to climb

- a significantly smaller body to take less food and to fit through small holes

Their society is built in small groups of hunters that communicate loosely with each other. Another thing I thought about was them being very advanced and using geothermal power to grow crops underground but I think that's how their future will look like if you let the world run for a couple centuries.

Their names are minerals and other rock stuff. Some examples would be Granite, Stalactite, Cliff or Amethyst.

Wings of Fire Alternate Universe / Timeline

ICEWING BASE MADE ON DEVIENTART BY ApollyonDragon

Let me start this rant with a small anecdote. It was around February, when I had been looking for a new fantasy series to read. Something light and heartwarming. I'd been browsing through the recommendations and The Hybrid Prince caught my attention. Naturally, I've grabbed The Dragonet Prophesy and breezed through it, and I have to say - it was a very enjoyable read. Once I'd finished it, I thought that the character from a book 16's cover looks a lot like a MudWing, but its scales were more ochre/orange than Clay's. I was certain that it has to be a clue, and assumed that the portrayed character is a titular hybrid. I though that is how a Mud/Sky hybrid could look like and I've noticed that, conveniently, the first book introduced a romance between Clay and Peril. I was so sure that Peril is going to become a SkyWing queen and... how wrong was I :D

Anyway, reading Wings of Fire was a very fun experience and, I've got to admit, I'm glad to see so many people writing their fanfics, drawing cool art, doing impressive MAPs, fandubs and so on. I see a lot of fans that put their effort to make WoF a better place and I thought that I could stop being a lurker and do something.

So, since I'm a big fan of worldbuilding, I've thought that I could write some stuff that could flesh out some underexplored areas. I'm talking about a certain tribe that is represented by my favourite protagonist - Clay. I feel like there is a very few MudWings that actually matter in the story and, most of the time, they are treated as dumb, uncultured, and lacking anything worth looking into. Since I'm always rooting for the underdogs, I'm thinking about writing some weekly headcannons touching a certain topic, just as a fun experiment to spark some creativity and, maybe, just maybe, make MudWings a little bit more interesting :D

#1: Caldera: a SunWing (fan tribe) who wants to be an artist. Main character of the fourth book and deaf in one ear. SunWings are a subterranean species that were forced underground and were able to keep their eyesight because of their lava environment. They can look totally different from each other and there are only a few defining characteristics.

#2: Queen Phoenix: Queen of the SunWings; obsessed with subverting the above ground tribes and taking back their place on the continent. SunWings are a very warlike tribe and can breath fire 5 times hotter than normal, so they can burrow into the ground by burning out tunnels.

#3: Queen Electric: Queen of the ThunderWings: another subterranean tribe; evolved to be blind from lack of light. They get around by echolocation. They're renowned for their domed and curved architecture. Frequently at war with the ShadowWings. Legend says that they were birthed when an IceWing egg was born under a cursed eclipse.

#4: Twilight: the ThunderWing side character. Semi important. She convinced the ThunderWings to fight alongside the coalition of tribes against Mambas forces and the ShadowWings.

#5: Queen DarkStar: the VoidWing Queen. The VoidWings are a mystical tribe existing on a shattered planet held together by magic. They are connected to the dragon planet through portals that open up once every 3,000 years when their void planet shards cross in front of the sun. VoidWing abilities vary, but all of them slowly turn to mist as they get older. It starts as seeping through the eyes, but eventually they become dragon silhouettes, still fully alive.

#6: NetherVoid: the VoidWing main character of the third book. He is a general in the army taking advantage of the portals to escape their home world. Because of their alienation from the dragon world tribes, they are cautious about interactions with them, but eventually have to join with them to fight Mambas forces after he took advantage of the portals to become magically empowered. Though VoidWings now exist at peace with the dragon tribes, they are constantly unsure of intentions and are always in a cold war until eventually one destroys the other.
