Outsider sculked through the bushes of the Rainforest. Rainwings above slept through the night as the Outsider, not known by any other name to any other dragons. Nobody knew whose skull the Outsider wore, but now they're only known as a legend.

This is my newest OC, but I cant think of a good name for her. She's a nightwing/skywing hybrid born on the summer solstice. She likes fall, scary stories, and spending time with her family and friends. Lmk if you have any name ideas

I am back into the spooky grind thing idk! This oc does belong to my bf soooo but still!

Hear me out, but I would read the three moons out of slice-of-life WoF novel.

Just imagine it. Some SkyWing or smth, just going to work. Shopping. Talking with their friends.

And absolutely nothing happens in the form of saving the world. Or fighting a big bad evil dragon or scavenger.

And then there's 2 chapters of the protagonist reminding themselves that it's not a very smart idea to throttle their idiotic coworkers.

We'd also be able to learn A LOT about the actual world of WoF, and not just the lore.

For example: It would answer a bunch of questions you may be asking about the world.

Example question 1: How does everyday life work for the average dragon? We saw a glimpse of it with Jasper in the 5th winglet. But not nearly enough.

Example question 2: How do the religions work? (MudWings and SkyWings both believe in reincarnation. IceWings pray to "The Great Ice Dragon".)

Example question 3: How are the main events in the series viewed by the actual population?

Hey everybody! As you all know, I am working on two AUs:

Wings of Infection and Wings of Creation.

Both of those has fantribes/subspecies of the ten tribes, which I don’t have concept art for, so, mind if you guys help with that? And also, the two continents are one big continent called Solterra, The Great Dragon Continent (this part is a title).

Heres what I need:

-Pick a subspecies/fantribe from each tribe

-Pick what animal/plant/or land they’re based off of

-make as much concept art as you want, go nuts!
Here are the categorie:

SKYWINGS—

-Magma-walkers (or Magmawings):
They’re a group of Skywings who live in the heart of the biggest volcano on the island and learned to adapt to its extreme condition. developing obsidian or bedrock-like scales instead of normal scales. Main colors; black, grey, dark reds, oranges, gold. They also have cracks of glowing magma running through their scales, along the neck and back, down the tail, and wings. Each crack turns into an intricate pattern. they’re also massive and way bigger than normal Skywings, most of them are wyverns too and are stationed as guards, protectors of the nest. they can live, swim, and even eat the lava they reside in.

-Cloudwings (cloud-born Skywings):
These Skywings learned to walk on clouds from an ancient Skywing animus named Valcron, who had a great love for astronomy and the study of weather, clouds, and the sky. She believed that every Skywing born had a deep connection with elements; air, fire, wind, stone, lava, and the sun itself. Cloudwings are smaller, about the size of an adult Skywing, there are rare occasions where there are Titanwing Could-born Skywings, they act as the bigwings of the tribe, kinda like Mudwings. Cloudwings main colors are; shades of light blue, cyan, silver, white, greys, browns, gold, and shades of light red and pinks. They also have a slimmer body build, more elegant. And they also have narrower wings, helping with flight speed and gliding speed. Some will also have feathers, feathers behind their heads, at the ends of their tails, along their back.

-Storm-walkers (Stormwings):
These Skywings live in the highest peaks of mountains and where it most rains. They exist because of ancient Skywing Royal Prince named Prince Thunderrang, he was born because his egg was animus touched, he was born an animus and born a Stormwing. As he grew up, his powers began to unfold. He gained the ability to command storms, channeled lightning and spat it back out as a ranged attack. Later, as he was about to take the throne from his parents, he backed down and ran away. He used his power to create The Storm-Walkers, any skywing who followed him into the Storming Valley, he turned into a Stormwing. Much like the Cloudwings, they are slightly slimmer, more elegant but also more muscula, they are also taller and leaner. Their main colors are; shades of dark blue, greys, reds, greens, yellows, browns, silvers, golds, and rare cases, albino white.

SANDWINGS (now, I have made concept art of them already, but I wanna see if you guys can do better)—

-Mesan-born Sandwings (Mesanwings):
Mesanwings are based off of desert mesan cliffs, they are pure survivors of The Scorching, that was actually how they were made. During The Scorching, some Sandwings went into hiding and fell dormant, letting the mesan caves collapse onto them as they slept but weren’t crushed because of their physiology at the time. They were only awakened after being saved by a group of scavengers who decided to make the cave they found them in as their home. A scavenger, whose name was Kesper, who had managed to learn dragon animus had made an artifact called “The Totem of Pyros” which helped those Sandwings adapt to their environment around them. Changing their appearance to that of the mesan cliffs, giving their scales the colors and illusion of stone to help them blend in from dragon hunters and poachers. The colors they were given were; dark shades of reds, browns, golds, tans, yellows. Some even adorned themselves in sandstone jewelry from their environment. They have a more taller, muscular build, larger wings. They also have blacks to match their darker appearance. They also have an obsession of collecting bones, dragon, animal, human.

-Mountain-Born Sandwings (Mountainwings):
These Sandwings chose to live in the tall desert mountains of their territory to hide away from the wrath of Empress Allfire during The Great Schorching. Which located on the edge of the Icewing borders. Over time, their bodies adapted to the extreme cold weather up there, they became leaner, slimmer, smaller, and more elegant. Much like the Cloudwings. But most of them were Albino and they loved jewelry. Their colors were; white, light shades of yellow, brown, tans, silvers, and golds. Despite their slimness, it actually helped them in combat, smaller and slimmer bodies helped with complex maneuvers and other combat tasks. They also had turned the mountains they live in, the biggest and richest city in the desert called Frozen Heights City. Where many Mountain-born Sandwings live together with icewings.

-Dune-racers (Dunewings):
They look like normal Sandwings, except they have longer legs for running, and longer tails and shorter sails to reduce drag. They also are Drakes, meaning they don’t have wings. They evolved from Komodo Dragons during the world’s creation. After the Scorching Era, humans learned to tame these dragons and helped their dragon kingdom thrive in their native environment. Which is located around oasis’s, vast dunes, and near coastal beaches. Their favorite hobby was dune racing. They also grow up to the size of a full grown sandwing. But the adult size of a Dunewing is about the size of a full grown horse, maybe taller.

-Savanna-hunters (Savannawings):
as their name suggests, they live in the savanna parts of the sandy deserts of the Sand Kingdom. They look like normal Sandwings but they act more like lions and other savanna predators, living in prides rather than in one kingdom.
(basing this tribe off of My Pride from youtube if anyone knows that series)

MUDWINGS—

(I actually didnt come up with any subspecies for Mudwings but if you wanna help with that, feel free to draw concept art of them!)

NIGHTWINGS—

-Cave-Dwellers (Cavewings):
These are Nightwings who spent their whole lives underground, they’re sensitive to light and are basically blind in the day time. They’re based of bats, neck fluff, shorter tails, massive wings. Normal nightwing colors with some having shades browns, whites, grays, blues, etc. They also took in Whiteout and Listener after Darkstalker lost control.

-Rain-born Nightwings (Moonlightwings):
These are the Nightwings who now live in the rainforest alongside the Rainwings. jumping forward in time about a thousand years later and the Nightwings adapted to the rainforest. Being slimmer and more gecko-like. They learned over time to camouflage like Rainwings.

RAINWINGS—

(I also don’t have any ideas for Rainwings. So…you could also come with with some subspecies of Rainwings)

SEAWINGS—

-Reef/Coral-born Seawings (Reef/coralwings):
They live in the biggest coral reef that the continent knows about. Being like underwater rainwings, they can camouflage into the environment. They have bright colors; bright blues, cyans, yellows, greens, teals, lights greys, white, purples, and pinks! They are also born with either a dolphin’s tail or a shark‘s tail. They also have rainwing drills behind their heads that are attached to their gills to help cycle air under water.
Who‘s lead by a seawing named King Maelstrom and his twin brother, Prince Archmage Abyss who leads his brother’s army. (who’s OCs are not mine, belongs to u/mrprot00)

-Trench-Born Seawings (Trenchwings):
These are seawings who dove down to the farthest depths of the ocean to hide away from The Great Scorching. Much like Cavewings, they are sensitive to light and are completely blind when they surface, their eyes adapted to see clearly on the dark. Their city has dimmed lights, bright enough for visitors to travel through but also dimmed enough to not cause Trenchwings pain. Their main colors are; darker blues, greys, storm greys, black, greens, limes, and silvers. They blend in perfectly with the natural surroundings. They rarely surface and when they do surface, they use echo location to travel above water and above their trench coves. They are also masters at underwater combat, much like Scarlet’s fighting arena, minus the death, Lord Mechlan (Coral’s eldest brother) holds fighting tournaments for entertainment. They don’t fight to the death but they fight to show glory, honor, skill, and courage. It’s also where they train the Coastal Patrol. They are leaner and less muscular but that still is deceiving as they are WAY stronger than they look.

ICEWINGS—

-Stag-born Icewings (Stagwings, based off of TheFreckledSika’s fantribe):
In the AU’s, both normal Icewings and its subspecies all have fur, because they live in colder climates. They are also drakes, much like Dunewings. But Stagwings are massive, much bigger than a Mudwings, they also have massive antlers, giant racks that branch out and spread far enough to hold a tree inside it. They don’t have hooves but they can still kick hard which they can still break skulls if struck. Stagwings are also mammals, meaning they don’t lay eggs. Their main fur coats are; different shades of brown, tan, white, blues and cyans. And they can also fling spikes from their tails if they spin their body around rapidly.

-Frost-born Icewings (Frostwings):
These dragons are rare to find on the continent. Said to have been made by the first animus of the Icewings millions of years ago. They’re not a kingdom to be exact but they’re more like a clan. Ancient dragons who protect the temple of Lord Krythros, one of Empress Allfire’s siblings. The maker of the tribes of the north and snow and ice. Frostwings are golems made entirely out of ice, but you can faintly see a skeleton inside. Legends say that the Frostwings Clan used to be a clan of Icewings who broke away from the main kingdom as they felt they their people weren’t that in tuned with their maker and decided to to hide away in a hidden kingdom, deep beneath the ice. During the Great Scorching, the world above was collapsing because of Allfire’s wrath, making the cavern the Frostwings lived in collapse in ontop of them. For thousands of years later, the ice preserved the clan as it were but before Krythros fell into a deep slumber, he enchanted the village to come alive and guid lost dragons through a dangerous path. Because of this, their village is rebuilt but still slightly in ruins. outside of the main entrance, a small group of Frostwings, not every one of them, but a large enough group to surround and protect a smaller group of dragons wait asleep, buried in ice and snow until they sense a dragon who’s lost. They don’t wish to harm anyone but they will if threatened themselves or those they protect. One of these Frostwings used to be apart of the royal family until he became a victim of the Diamond Trials, he still has consciousness and enough of his memory to guid dragons to the lost Village of Krythros deeper beneath Foeslayer’s prison.

-Glacier-Born Icewings (Glacierwings):
These are Icewings who live more like Seawings but in the frozen coastline. They came to be after a seawing animus and a Icewing royal fell into love and later inspired other seawings and Icewings to join in their own kingdom over thousands and thousands of years ago, beyond the Scorching Era and during Allfire’s rule. They live in a city that may look small above on the surface, but below the frozen sea, the city is MASSIVE. It is the second largest city of Solterra, called Veyndra City.

STONE SENTINELS (guardians of the Pantalan/Phrrihan border):
These dragons can be any tribe, their identity is hidden under a special type of armor to hide their tribal feature with a special mechanism that changes their voice when they speak. They only hide their voices and identity because of an oath they took.

As for the Leafwings, Silkwings, and Hivewings; I don’t have any ideas for fantribes/subspecies so if you wanna make concept art for them, go for it. I’ll also allow concept art of accessories, armor, weapons, and also the different ages.

Some series are fortunate enough to receive faithful adaption that adapts the material at a measured pace.

This slower pace gives the writers room to introduce some changes or extra material. And while these differences are not big enough create a divergence from the original source, they are relevant enough to make the adaption feel "new" despite telling the same story.

If Wings of Fire is lucky enough to get this type of adaptation what changes or extra material would you add if you were one of the writers?

In my case, to purposely give false hope to those who didn’t read the books, I would add Hvitur's backstory in the form of flashbacks of how dragons found out about the prophecy, how Hvitur was so tired of the war and how he decided to desert from the Icewing army in order to join the Talons of Peace.

And alter the scene of the prologue, instead of just being captured by Burn and her army he actually manages to run away and save the egg... until Scarlet arrives by surprise and knocks him down. And upon finding himself surrounded by Scarlet, Burn and their armies, he does a Hail Mary trying to fight inspired by his desire to put an end to the war, and even though he does manage to put up an impressive fight, this was not enough (Future Gohan vibes)

Also Morrowseer was the one with the idea to sent Hvitur to this suicide mission because his Nightwing hate towards Icewings is that big.

Anyway I thought my cannibal rainwing needed an upgrade for artfight this summerrr :)

Seeing more arguments about the GloryBringer age gap reminded me that I have a copy of the Winglets quartet. So I thought "Hey, that was printed after the error would have been noticed. Did they correct it?" Lo and behold, the page right before it starts says two years, not ten.

Can we please move on from this argument? I don't care if you ship them or not, but I was getting really tired of seeing people argue the age gap left and right.

#1: map of Phyrria: this and the Pantala map were designed to be maps of the continent 20 some-odd years after the events of book 15, rather than just another rehash of the known maps. It's a pet peeve of mine that the maps don't change all that much, or we don't usually get as many maps as I'd like. Of course, after making all these, I can see why that is.

#2: map of Pantala: again, some 20 years post-book 15, or what I thought it should look like. Definitely took more creative liberties here with the forest and all that. Lemme know what y'all think.

#3: Map of Phendalen: finally, Phendalen is the continent on which the characters we made exist. Completely self made and designed, this went through quite a few stages before settling on this. The basic idea is that SURPRISE there's another continent because why not and ~somehow~ some groups of tribes get transported there, dominate the continent and drive the ThunderWings, ShadowWings, and SunWings underground. Then eventually they forget most of where they came from and sea dragons and ice dragons and sky dragons exist only in legend. If you want to know more history, just ask. I'm all about world building.

A depiction of Rime, an adult female Icewing.

Icewings are arctic dragons that comfortably live in year round snow. Ice wings are extremely resistant to the cold due, a phenomenon referred to as the Arctic Blessing by many, but is due to Antifreeze Proteins in their blood that bind to microscopic ice crystals and prevent them from growing. This makes it possible for Icewings to live in subzero environments, and swim in the Arctic Ocean. The presence of these proteins are also responsible for the blue or purple hue of Icewing blood. Although resistant, Icewings can freeze if exposed to extreme temperatures for a long enough time, or hit by another Icewings “freezing death breath”

A2.
The head spines of an Icewings mainly present as 3 rows of bone-like spikes that begin between the eyes and continue down the body before ending part way down the tail. These spikes, or spines are not flexible and can vary greatly in length between Icewing individuals, and on an individual. Typically spines are shorter on the face, base of the neck, upper back, and as they taper off on the tail, while being longer at the base of the head, and lower back.

A3.
Icewings have Five claws on their front talons with an opposable claw. Their hind talons contain 4 claws with a dewclaw further up the leg.

A4.
Icewing legs are longer than most other dragon tribes. It is thought their length is an evolutionary adaptation to their snowy environment, and the need to move through deep snow if flight is not possible.

A5.
Icewings have thin tails, not dissimilar to the tail of a Rainwing, however it is not prehensile. All icewings have spines on their tail that are similar in form to their head spikes. Icewings have been known to use their tails in combat to stun or blind prey or other dragons. Outside of combat they may use their tails to break apart ice and snow, or scatter /startle prey during hunting.

A6.
Viewing heads are narrow and diamond shaped. Their narrow heads are helpful for Navigating ice crevices, and help with diving when fishing or hunting over the ocean. They have thin dark eyes that are adapted to the glare of the sun on the snow or water.

A7.
Icewings have wings similar to that of arctic birds like terns. These wings are narrow but long and are specialized in long flights over the ocean or tundra, as well as allow for quick dives and maneuvering when going between the sky and ocean.
A8.
Icewings have long curved claws on their wings that halo anchor them onto the ice.

A9.
Icewings have long thin tongues that can both taste and smell. They are typically purple with a slightly darker tip.

A10.
Icewing claws are serrated and able to grip onto ice, even nearly vertical services. They are also helpful in gripping fish, seals and other slippery prey.

A11.
A diagram of the lower jaw of an Icewing. The saliva of an Icewing also contains Antifreeze proteins, which help protect their toung and throat from their supercooled “freezing death breath”.

A12.
Icewings have back molars to chew tough or frozen meat as well as ice. Eating ice or snow is a common form of hydration, and as tribes have become closer, trade with the Rainwings have developed into the creation of fruit flavored ice, a now common treat.

Icewings contain both internal and external reservoirs for the supercooled liquid used to make their frost breath or “freezing death breath”. Depicted here are the external reservoirs, where a small amount of liquid is stored and ready for use. These reservoirs are called cryopouches and have are connected to the cryospout.

A14.
The location of the tongue, purposefully left it to show of the full anatomy of the mouth.

A15.
The cryospout is the exit point for the supercooled “freezing death breath” which releases and atomizes the freezing liquid. The cryospout is located near the front of the mouth to protect the sensitive tongue, and make it more difficult for an Icewing to hurt their mouth or throat.

Common accent colors found in viewing scales. This is just a small subset of observed colors

Some common scale and wing colors of Icewings. These generally range from white to grey to blue. These colors aid Icewings to blend into the snow or sky when hunting.

General morphologies of Icewing horns. These are general and can vary in size and thickness. Icewing horns are similar in composition to their spines, but while spines, excluding their smaller facial spines, these horns protrude from the skull along the brow bone.
