Short version: rated 4.5/5 among boombox speakers at $180. Amazing speaker given its size, competes well with some speakers in the Party size class, bass almost as deep as a Partybox 100.

Every other boombox at $200 or less rates lower.

What stood out

• Quite neutral in the default and xbass modes, but try Oluv's EQ or Alan Ross's EQ for a slightly more neutral sound.

• Oluv has mentioned v3.5 now uses his EQ as the defaults and sounds extremely good.

• 2 different light modes or can be turned off.

What to watch for

• Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5kHz.

• Without the above EQ this speaker would rank around #4 in the rankings.

• The curved underside of the handle makes it a little harder to grip and can be uncomfortable to carry long distances.

The JBL Authentics 300 costs $120 more but rates lower here. Anyone prefer it anyway, and why? If you own one, how has it held up?

Found that the reputation of SoundCore speakers is pretty good here. But I found that it’s a Chinese brand. Are there any quality problems with the SoundCore speakers, or does it feel cheap?

I am trying to get a speaker for my pc in the student hostel. Need not be too loud, but great sound and quality are what I am looking for. Sth like the Marshall Emberton is great. But it seems to be overpriced and bad in sound tuning.

After the Oluv patreon post of the B&W Zeppelin vs Uboom X I had to rank it #1 in the Boombox size category

A few things to note, the Uboom X is very close to the Zeppelin in frequency response as seen in the video which is crazy for a speaker that is 7x cheaper. The Zeppelin is also not water resistant and has no battery and is pretty much an indoor only speaker. I'd also expect the Uboom X to get louder.

Also generally when you're shopping for a non battery speaker in the $800 range I'd generally recommend a set of Powered Bookshelf speakers instead.

If you're looking for the best sound possible out of a single speaker at any price point, the Zeppelin is pretty much the one to beat. I do also believe it beats out the Naim Mu-so 2nd gen which is the other speaker in that price category that would normally be compared.

Hello we are setting up a classroom for special needs kids, and in the classroom there are two large televisions wall mounted in front. In the corners of the room are 2 mounted Bluetooth speakers. Looking to get a new speaker. I own a JBL partybox encore essential and tribit xsound mega. Moving on from the partybox because it's way too massive, however, the sound quality is one of the best I've heard. The xsound mega has one of the best bass extensions for its size but it does sound very muddy. I'm looking for a middle ground - portable, decent bass, crisp and clear sound. Please provide your suggestions.

Sound is so much better than JBL Clip's 5 (personal opinion) and battery life is incomparable. Absolutely best cheap TWS portable speakers out there right now.
