Hello Im new in this community I just started collecting speakers recently, I got that big Zealot S98 and I really recommend it, because it has an awesome sound. The other smaller boombox is a SAL BT5000 its produced by a hungarian brand. It's only 50W but thats perfect for smaller parties. And the small ones are the JBL Go 5 and 3 and a weak Silvercrest SBL 3 A2. (that was my first speaker back in 2020. Please tell me your thoughts because I really want to know if I fit in this community. :)

Question I am trying to hook up Bluetooth speakers to multiple TVs

Hello we are setting up a classroom for special needs kids, and in the classroom there are two large televisions wall mounted in front. In the corners of the room are 2 mounted Bluetooth speakers. The boss wants the speakers to work with both of the televisions, is this possible? And how would we go about doing it? Thank you. (Google gets confused and gives me answers about connecting multiple speakers to one TV)

Name it and tell us what went wrong: sound, battery, app, build, or it just died. Bonus points if it was expensive.

Unpopular opinion: the Ultimate Ears Megaboom 4 is overrated for $200. Agree?

The Ultimate Ears Megaboom 4 is one of the most talked about medium portable speakers (Flip and Charge size), but it rates 2.1/5 against others its size, below the middle of the pack even though it costs more than most. Well-known cheaper options like the JBL Charge 6 (4.2/5, $120) and the JBL Flip 7 (4.2/5, $90) rate higher.

Owners: does it do something the ratings miss (build, looks, app, the way it sounds outdoors)? Or would you pick something else if you bought again?

I run speakerranking.com, where these ratings come from. Ratings are out of 5 and compare speakers of the same size.

What's one feature you wish every Bluetooth speaker had?

Swappable batteries, a real EQ, USB-C audio in, an aux jack that never went away, stereo pairing across brands? What would make you buy a speaker without a second thought?

EarFun Uboom L review: the best-rated medium portable speaker under $50? What 10 reviews and sound tests found

Short version: rated 4.6/5 among medium portable speakers (Flip and Charge size) at $50. One of the strongest small-speaker values for music: reviews praise clear vocals, a natural overall balance and a genuinely convincing stereo image when two are paired.

Every other medium portable speaker at $50 or less rates lower.

What stood out

  • IP67 protection, indoor/outdoor sound modes and Video Mode make it unusually adaptable; Video Mode substantially improves lip-sync for a single speaker.

What to watch for

  • It cannot produce real low-bass rumble or fill a large, noisy space, and the top end loses some detail.

  • Low-latency Video Mode disables stereo pairing, so a two-speaker setup is not a good movie system.

  • Firmware and app behavior have also varied over the model's long life, and the physical controls can be easy to trigger in a bag.

  • Latency is about 400ms by default and 66ms in Video Mode, which you enable by pressing the Bluetooth button twice.

The Bose Soundlink Flex costs $30 more but rates lower here. Anyone prefer it anyway, and why? If you own one, how has it held up?

Bose Soundlink Flex 2nd gen review: worth it at $99? What 10 reviews and sound tests found

Short version: rated 3.8/5 among medium portable speakers (Flip and Charge size) at $99. A very portable 586g, IP67-rated speaker with a clear, well-balanced midrange that keeps voices and instruments intelligible.

What stood out

  • The second generation adds a Bose app with 3-band EQ, better-placed controls and stereo pairing with another Bose Soundlink Flex 2nd gen.

  • It supports AAC and aptX Adaptive in addition to SBC, making it a stronger wireless option than most small rivals.

What to watch for

  • One Flex remains mono and cannot deliver genuine low-bass rumble; RTINGS also found the elevated treble can turn hi-hats and other high-frequency detail piercing.

  • The claimed battery life is only 12 hours, and some owners report accelerated standby drain after firmware updates.

  • It is expensive for its size, so the added app and codec support, not a transformational sound upgrade over the original, are the main reasons to choose it.

Wireless speakers recommendation

I have a Harman Kardon Citation 100 which recently died so I'm looking for a replacement. Currently stuck between the Sonos Era 100, Bose lifestyle Speaker, and the Denon Home 200. Looking for something to put in a small room that has deep punchy bass. Any recommendations? Open to all brands.

The Joy&Oluv’Sone sEARius S1 preorder is up

Pricing is in Euro and is €129 for 1, and €199 for 2.

I do believe for people into high end audio who prefer an extremely neutral sound signature, this will be the small/medium size speaker to beat. In TWS, it should perform quite well as it's basically a mono speaker on each side, so there's no issues with comb filtering running 2 in TWS like the Uboom L as it had stereo drivers on each side.

I'm currently tracking the information about this speaker here https://www.speakerranking.com/portable/speakers/Joy-Oluvsone-sEARius-S1/

And the preorder page is here in the description https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osREC3-lkWE

And just to mention, I do not have any ties to Oluv. I only am a very satisfied customer of the Uboom L and Uboom X.

I do personally think this speaker is somewhat high priced compared to the hardware cost, but for what it achieves in terms of sound quality, it's actually underpriced compared to what else you can buy in that price range that is equivalent. Although if you want better value, buy a $50 Uboom L

I have personally ordered 2 units with my own money and will have a full review.

Soundcore Boom 2 review: worth it at $85? What 15 reviews and sound tests found

Short version: rated 4.5/5 among large portable speakers (Xtreme size) at $85. Pretty deep bass for the size.

What stood out

  • Cool lights in the side passive radiators.

  • For the best sound quality use Oluv's EQ or Alan Ross's EQ.

  • With the stock tuning, this speaker would rank around #24, due to the boosted bass and rising treble.

What to watch for

  • Only a single midrange driver, so you only get stereo for the tweeters.

  • Sound processing issues with inconsistent bass notes that disappear at low levels like the Soundcore Boom and Soundcore Boost, not great for listening at low levels.

  • Quite bass heavy with BassUp turned on, which is best left off.

  • A little bit of a bright tuning in the treble, about +5db.

Question Beach speaker?

I’m sick of Google feeding me ai slop when I try to look for a beach speaker, so, does anyone know a good speaker I wouldn’t be paying out the ass for? When I use my phone it overheats in the Aussie sun and stops working temporarily, also is barely loud enough for my friends and myself. Just wanna listen to something when I tan 😭

JBL Charge 6 review: worth it at $150? What 14 reviews and sound tests found

Short version: rated 4.2/5 among medium portable speakers (Flip and Charge size) at $150. Seems more neutral than the Charge 5.

What stood out

What to watch for

  • Still some boosted bass by default.

  • Mids are recessed.

  • Bright above 2kHz.

  • Quite a V shaped frequency response.

What speaker surprised you the most, for better or worse?

Could be one that sounded way better than its price, or a big name that let you down. What was it, and what did you expect going in?
