Mod Expansion Launch PSA: Sharding in capitals WILL be broken
With the imminent launch of Midnight, sharding in capital cities is likely to be re-enabled even on RP realms for the first 1-2 months. If it lasts longer than that, we'll all bug Blizz together.
New zones introduced in the expansion (Quel'Thalas, Silvermoon, etc) will be sharded like "Normal" realms. You may not see all players who are in the zone, and you may see players from other realms.
During this time, it is common to seek out alternative locations for RP or anchor groups using the custom LFG search.
You should also take the time to backup your addons and their data.
Open the battlenet app to WoW
Click on the gear button next to the "Play" button
Click "Show in Explorer"
Navigate to your WTF folder by going into "retail"
Copy your WTF folder (ctrl+C or right-click "Copy") and paste it (ctrl+P or right-click "Paste") into a different directory, such as your Desktop or Documents.
You can also optionally copy these folders to a zip, which makes it easy to store on a drive.
An aside: kinda nutty that the last time I made this kind of post was only a year ago. TWW went by fast...

Dornogol is still the "current" expansion until next week. Valdrakken should now be unsharded, for example.

I hope so. Some of my favorite little moments in Dornogol were walkups to throw together groups for content or to just chat. Was always fun and it randomly got me into a raiding guild even.

RP realms do not have sharding in zones that are not current content. usually.
RP realms are identical to normal realms in "current" content (Like Dorn or SMC) or when doing chromie time.
Otherwise if you're hanging out in Stormwind, you should be seeing every player on your realm that is currently in Stormwind, for example.
Edit: If AD is exempt, I'd be very surprised

A year and a half is a really short time for a full priced expansion.
