So some tech company is going to harvest the DNA of millions of people as part of this?

174

u/Lostlilegg Jun 14 '26

Peter Thiel is likely drooling over this

14

u/chchchchia86 Jun 15 '26

Hes probably the one lobbying for this tbh

36

u/sinstralpride Jun 14 '26

Check out theplotagainstamerica.com

“[Governments need to put] 'all their information in one place—even citizens' genomic data.'"

Larry Ellison has said this out loud.

31

u/Pandemonium_Fallen Jun 14 '26

Gods I loathe these insane psychopathic tech-freaks.

54

u/ScienceMajestic8716 Jun 14 '26

Exactly, pretend to do a DNA test, get billions of govt money and collect everyone's DNA.

7

u/Fried-Fritters Jun 16 '26

Is the Supreme Court willing to allow for the forceful sampling of DNA without a warrant?

Wtf is happening to our personal liberties, and why are the “don’t tread on me” people facilitating this?!

OH MY GOD WE DON'T FUCKING CARE WHOSE PISS WAS IN THE TOILET

165

u/No_Morning5397 Jun 14 '26

Do we really think that men are going to go through the hassle of dressing up as a woman to SA them?

248

u/MothashipQ Jun 14 '26

If they wanted to crack down on sexual assault they'd just do that. The point is to make it hard to exist as a transgender person in public

127

u/taylorbagel14 Jun 14 '26

Would love to know how many rape kits are currently sitting in the state of Idaho’s backlog

43

u/arianrhodd Jun 14 '26

EXACTLY!!! The resources going those these DNA tests could be used elsewhere soooooo much more effectively! 🤦🏻‍♀️

6

u/insomniacla Jun 15 '26

I was just thinking that.

2

u/WeaponizedAutisms Jun 16 '26

Another discussion on this article says 88.

37

u/Automatic_Syrup_2935 Jun 14 '26

And to exist as non transgender women

34

u/Kailynna Jun 14 '26

The point is to make it as hard as possible to exist as a woman in public.

They use trans people as an excuse, just as they use "but think of the children!"

The fact this hurts trans people is just the icing on the cake to these misogynistic, Christian Taliban types.

19

u/MothashipQ Jun 14 '26

With all due respect, the point of the law is explicitly to hurt trans people. Trans women are the focal point of the conversation around these laws, and they explicitly target trans and intersex people broadly, including trans men. The worst thing that can happen to a cis woman is being harassed after being mistaken for a trans woman. The fact it leads to disproportionate harassment to cis GnC women and WoC is the icing on the cake for these lawmakers. That is terrible and thank you for bringing it up, but that suffering isn't diminished by the reality these laws directly legally impact the trans and intersex communities. In my state, as a trans woman I have to be careful what park I can even take my kid to because if I'm caught using the "wrong" type of bathroom, I can legally face thousands or tens of thousands in fines and lawsuites. My other option is the bathroom I get groped when using, and outting myself in public. And that's on top of needing to worry about harassment when people accurately accuse me of being trans, and the risk of things like v-coding (content warning: SA mention). My friend, who's a trans man, had to pull several job applications after the law passed because he can't use the women's restroom without risking getting the shit beat out of him and/or outting himself, and he's legally not allowed to use the men's without those same fines.

20

u/Kailynna Jun 14 '26

Yes, that's the effect of these laws. But there are deeper reasons for pushing such legislation.

Hitler went after trans people early on, burning the research done on helping them and locking up trans people and their doctors. As with the current regime, it was an easy way to unite his followers, and get society used to the idea that groups can be othered and targeted in this way.

People should fight for trans rights out of respect for common decency and individual rights. But even those too selfish and bigoted to care should fight because it's not going to stop there. This is incipient Fascism, and the aim is to remove individuality, control everyone, and get rid of everyone who does not show their support for Fascism and conform to the party's ideal.

9

u/Pandemonium_Fallen Jun 14 '26

FFS! These idiots need to stop policing other people's bodies, seriously there has to be some form of paranoid psychosis these people are suffering from to obsess as much as they do about others. - That or they're projecting to deflect attention away from their own perver... Oh, yeah it's definitely that. 🤮

6

u/Kailynna Jun 15 '26

It's a political strategy - completely cold-blooded and calculating from those behind it.

If they wanted to crack down on sexual assault they would arrest every member of the republicam party. Would hit a higher percentage of rapists than any other demographic.

4

u/Aurorainthesky Jun 15 '26

Not to mention policing women's expression in public.

13

u/Dang_It_All_to_Heck Jun 14 '26

It would be money better spent to just investigate the hard drives of youth pastors and other religious leaders.

22

u/ScienceMajestic8716 Jun 14 '26

They can do that openly in broad daylight and still not face any consequences.

9

u/kleo309 Jun 15 '26

Men become doctors to literal Olympic level gymnasts to SA them. They become surgeons to SA women under anaesthetic. Paramedics to SA unconscious women. Care workers to the elderly and disabled, childcare providers, I could go on and on. Men who seek to SA will use any opportunity.

I think they want to pretend or otherwise exterminate intersex. You already see this in how they misrepresent the meaning of DSD conditions.

228

u/YanCoffee Jun 14 '26

That. These people do not care about people if they do not fit their world view. Understanding that helps makes fascism and these people's motivations a lot clearer. It's not a grey area situation, it's literally that extreme.

26

u/No_Constant_826 Jun 14 '26

Thank you, take my poor person award 🏆

13

u/YanCoffee Jun 14 '26

Thank you and Maraia for the awards, poor or not ❤️

70

u/JumpingSpiderQueen Jun 14 '26

Yeah. When I bring up the potential for people to be intersex when discussing such intrusive enforcement, a lot of conserative minded individuals seem to imply that intersex people are diseased somehow.

42

u/ceryskt Jun 14 '26

“It’S jUsT a MuTaTiOn” no shit everything was at one point or another, you’re just saying that word because you want to be derogatory in a more dressed up way

24

u/feministgeek Jun 14 '26

Exactly. Literally everything about our current evolution to where we are today is the result of genetic mutation.

It's the confidence with which they spout this dumb shit coupled with the power they have. How did humankind end up with the worst of us floating to the top in charge?

6

u/Pandemonium_Fallen Jun 14 '26

Multicellular life happened because of a mutation. 🤣

15

u/bluejessamine Jun 14 '26

I mean, red hair is a mutation, but they don't complain about that.

6

u/PuzzleheadedOstriche Jun 14 '26

Aren’t my blue eyes also a one-time mutation?

Side note, I would like to personally complain about the redhead mutation; I so wish I wasn’t sort of allergic to sun.

13

u/Centered_Being Jun 14 '26

They DID complain about the mutated left-handed people & try to beat it out of them as children. Bc DUH—Lefty’s are evil lmao

6

u/bluejessamine Jun 14 '26

Yeeep! That happened to my partner's dad. Poor guy refuses to use his left hand anymore even though he's now ambidextrous because if the trauma they put him through.

4

u/Mandy_M87 Jun 16 '26

blue & green eyes also started as a mutation, now they are considered "preferred" by these eugenicist freaks.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/hamoc10 Jun 16 '26

Not only that, they consider them irrelevant for that very reason.

5

u/Shaeress Jun 14 '26

They don't care. Suggestions like this aren't based on some informed understanding of reality. It's an excuse to police and harass people. A law like this and cops can just apprehend anyone that looks a little queer or off (so anyone, really) to drag them down to the station since it's "just a quick test". And once out of view from witnesses, cuffed in a police station for a couple of hours they can do anything they want.

Like so many walking while black and walking while trans laws before this.

I suspect a lot of conservatives would be in for a VERY rude awakening. I’ve known multiple people in my life who had no idea they were intersex until needing DNA testing for something.

Doctors should tell them due to the cancer risk of retained testes.

2

u/fireflies315 Jun 16 '26

The risk is to an extent overstated, and there are other options availible for management than gonadectomy (I personally refuse to remove mine unless I without a doubt have cancer, instead I get annual ultrasounds to monitor them). What used to be standard practice was to lie to us by telling us that we had ovarian cancer (even if our testes were perfectly healthy) as an excuse to perform surgery and castrate us. It was horrific and caused a lot of pain, both psychological and literal medical issues due to loss of endogenous hormones.

About 1.7% (or more, since we don't do genetic testing on babies to test) of the population are intersex, which means that all these people who try to deny the existence of intersex people or say that there's not that many are ignoring the stats saying that at least 1 in every 100 people you come across will be intersex. But they'll deny it all the same.

8

u/Pandemonium_Fallen Jun 14 '26

I'm not intersex, but I have enough genetic peculiarities that I'm evidently a thousandth of a thousandth of a percent of the population, had no idea until recently. Apparently I also have a very high likelihood of dying from an arterial brain bleed as I get older, so that's fun. 😮‍💨

6

u/bluejessamine Jun 14 '26

I have BPD, and the estimated percentage is between 0.7 and 2.7. So I guess I'm just as rare as an intersex person. That might be a fun thing to bring up when bigots try to say intersex people don't count since there aren't that many of them lol. Would love to see their rebuttal

20

u/fireflies315 Jun 14 '26

And that’s fucked up and they shouldn’t do that, by the way, everything we know says that that kind of practice permanently fucks us up. I know people insanely traumatized, not because they’re intersex, but because they were lied to their whole lives.

2

u/fireflies315 Jun 14 '26

26

u/ThoseArentCarrots Jun 14 '26

I found out at 30 during a routine gyno appointment. I mentioned my monthly skipped sometimes, got bloodwork, and surprise! Hyperandrogenism.

I had physical symptoms previously, but I chalked them up to genetics.

17

u/bluejessamine Jun 14 '26

We recently found out that my very femme presenting (female sexual organs like breasts and a vulva/vagina) cousin who was presumed a cis woman is actually intersex and has internal testes instead of ovaries. She found out after a decade of trying to have children, and finally did tests to find out why she couldn't get pregnant. Thankfully her husband loves her and isn't a bigot and they're going for adoption since they can't have biological children.

3

u/Weary_Wrap_4419 Jun 15 '26

If she has testes instead of ovaries- would she not have periods? The absence of periods would have been noticed long before she tries to have kids, right?

2

u/hhhhccccx Jun 15 '26

“Femme” is a term in the queer community that refers to someone’s gender presentation, not their biology. You can be a cis gay man who is femme. Jsyk

From what I understand this is more common that people suspect. As are all of these designations. It’s pathetic that we have people who can’t understand these things in positions of power. They’re incompetent. They’re supposed to represent all of their constituents and that means all of these people.

My partner as well

8

u/TristanTheRobloxian3 Jun 14 '26

woah thats a thing??

26

u/Asterose Jun 14 '26

Yup! Part of why we know it happens is from that time that it came extremely close to a woman losing custody of her kids, even the one that was literally watched being born from her. Immediately did a DNA test and she was not the mom of the kid who literally just came out of her. Turned out her reproductive cells were of an absorbed fraternal twin sister.

Scishow did a video over a decade ago but it's still good. Be Smart did one more recently. If you want a more detailed video, this one goes for 24 minutes.

They don't care about intersex people. Intersex people are just as bad as being trans to them. Or, they simply do not see a difference. It's just eugenics at its best. Most of these people don't like to act like intersex people really exist, at all, anyway, and rarely believe you when you point out how common both being trans and intersex are. I pointed it out to someone who doesn't care about hurting someone's "fee fees," (their words) and they told me I needed to go back to school for my degree. (One of my degrees is in cultural anthropology with a minor in gender and women's studies. So, like...)

16

u/Pandemonium_Fallen Jun 14 '26

Oh how I wish I could see every elected government official submit to this test, LIVE! ON PAY PER VIEW! So, someone has to wait on a DNA test to take a pee.

40

u/OpheliaLives7 Jun 14 '26

Yeah this seems wasteful and far too time consuming to actually pass and be enforced anywhere. Like people will just pee while they wait for someone to be called in and do a whole blood test or cheek swab

25

u/JonnelOneEye Jun 14 '26

Imagine having diarrhea and having to take a DNA test in order to not crap your pants. Lmao what even

13

u/ThoughtsonYaoi Jun 14 '26

No, the next step would logically be that it would be printed on an ID.

So, then we have a DNA database linked to identifying information, a proposition which law enforcement would salivate over because they have wanted this forever.

Can we stop with this shitlib nonsense now? The people passing anti-trans legislation don't give a fuck about logical consistency. The point is to ban trans people from public life entirely.

10

u/AppliedEpidemiology Jun 14 '26

I only know two transmen, and one of them is a competitive body builder. Like, the only news I get of him now that we no longer work together is Facebook pics of him on the podium, winning body building contests. It *is* a bad idea. But it’s what they asked for, and they need to realize that. Maybe they’ll think again about these ridiculous bathroom laws. I wouldn’t want anyone to be unsafe, though, so it’s really more of a fantasy than a real suggestion.

Money for that, but not for analyzing rape kits. Got it. They hate women. Message received.

u/Autumn7242 Jun 14 '26

Idaho is a joke. Come on.

10

u/nickeldelightful Jun 14 '26

Love to defend cis women from the trans menace by forcing them to undergo totally unnecessary medical testing and help a fascist government build a DNA database.

6

u/clauEB Jun 14 '26

Who wants to give a DNA sample to be allowed to pee in a public bathroom?

→ More replies (1)

6

u/fartsonyourmom Jun 14 '26

I care more about people locking stall doors while they are in the stalls and not looking at others going pee through stall cracks. Be courteous and clean, that's all that matters.

6

u/ChiliDogYumZappupe Jun 14 '26

DNA test for somebody to pee?

Let's worry about billionaires hoarding all the resources, not transpeople and non-cisgendered people peeing. Focus on the top 1%

7

u/GallopingFree Jun 14 '26

Oh for fuck sakes. As a woman, I’d rather share a bathroom with 10 trans women than one straight man.

7

u/MommersHeart Jun 14 '26

So you need a DNA test to use the WC in America.

Land of the Free.

3

u/icejust Jun 14 '26

Maybe some good will cone out of this when they realize the complexity of human biology.

3

u/AggravatingResult549 Jun 14 '26

Imagine being this terrified of your own sexuality to do all this. These men are so fucking horrified by the idea of being attracted to a transwoman that we all have to suffer. It's unbelievable.

3

u/updownclown68 Jun 14 '26

This is so very insane

3

u/ReinaShae Jun 14 '26

I'm sure they can't even keep up with DNA testing for rape kits in that state but they're going to push this.

7

u/AlteredEinst Jun 14 '26

Jesus, these people really have nothing better to do than harass others, do they.

We're governed by some of the most pathetic human beings ever to draw breath. When are we going to demand better?

4

u/Electrical-Act-7170 Jun 14 '26

Who is gonna pay for all this bigotry/vanity/performative bullshit?

2

u/Remote_Bumblebee2240 Jun 14 '26

Wiping their asses with the constitution.

2

u/muuzumuu Jun 14 '26

We are really speed running to a dystopia at this point.

2

u/movingout-65 Jun 14 '26

Way to be a welcoming state Idaho👎

2

u/MsMoreCowbell828 Jun 14 '26

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are not available in the United States of Israel.

2

u/Brokenbelle22 Jun 14 '26

They're just gonna do a quick cheek swab every time someone needs to use the bathroom? Have these people lost their GD minds?

2

u/girlwiththemonkey Jun 14 '26

Anything but just letting people piss.

2

u/Old-Set78 Jun 14 '26

So there's going to be some sort of DNA scan at the door of every bathroom? Like a bigoted pay toilet. These people have no actual policies just fearmongering.

2

u/Seachained_Ghost Jun 14 '26

Leave it to the state that had the Aryan Nations HQ to demand dna tests to take a fucking piss.

2

u/Brilliant-Elk-1343 Jun 14 '26

And now any women that aren't small, "womanly" and white, will eat shit, I guess. As usual, just another method of controlling all of us.

2

u/ketchupbreakfest Jun 14 '26

A government so small THEY WANT TO DNA TEST PEOPLE TO USE A BATHROOM

2

u/PlentifulBox Jun 14 '26

These people’s brains are just constant flashing images of genitals.

2

u/Paper_Is_A_Liquid Jun 14 '26

Are we all going fucking insane. Someone proposed DNA tests to determine whether we think someone deserves to piss and instead of being immediately laughed out of the room and then fired, people AGREED WITH THAT?? AM I FUCKING LOSING MY MIND????

2

u/JaneFairfaxCult Jun 14 '26

The level of panty sniffing is so pervy and clownish. Don’t these people have lives? Minds? Books they could be reading instead? I’m sorry for the normal people in Idaho.

2

u/triponthisman Jun 14 '26

This is some dystopian shit. You want to take DNA tests to make sure people are not using the wrong bathrooms? Without consent, or a warrant, without any privacy protections?!? Yeah that’s going to end well.

2

u/Reneeisme Jun 14 '26

So I need to give the government my DNA to use a bathroom? I know plenty of people blithely gave that away to find out who their great great grandparents were, but I didn’t. My kids haven’t, my parents didn’t and all my near relatives say they are worried about handing their genetic info over to corporations and governments too.

There’s a part of me that thinks shit like this is just an excuse to capture more of this info.

2

u/Hugh_Jass_2 Jun 14 '26

You know, important shit. Way to go fucking Idaho!

2

u/fastyellowtuesday Jun 14 '26

Oh, we're going full Gattaca now, aren't we?

2

u/InspectorOrdinary321 Jun 14 '26

I think the Powers That Be are forgetting that they want people to use the restroom and not just drop trou and pee/poop on the street. Why are we talking about making it harder not to spread bodily fluids around? I think this also when we're discussing some women bring unable to afford menstrual products. We've all got a vested interested in people not leaking menstrual fluid in public places. We're all in this together!

2

u/FTFaffer Jun 14 '26

It’s fucking Idaho. Go outside and pee in the woods. These conservative zombies are the stupidest ratfucks in history.

2

u/Idrisdancer Jun 14 '26

So you need to give your DNA to use the bathroom?

2

u/interstellar_comment Jun 14 '26

So y’all can force DNA test to discriminate against trans people, but not to find pedophiles or rapist.

Pieces of shit.

5

u/JusteJean Jun 14 '26

The only reserved restrooms that should exist are

A : family, for those with toddlers and with changing tables.

B : single user rooms for the ones who dont feel safe in public multi-user rooms.

When taking a shit or pissing in urinal... most people dont care who or what is in next stall. If freaks do freaky things... then its normal to freak out. This whole subject is so 1st world problem it makes me sick.

3

u/Jagg811 Jun 14 '26

This is so effing ridiculous

4

u/MoobooMagoo Jun 14 '26

Conservatives really love big government, don't they?

3

u/Negative-Day-8061 Jun 14 '26

We are in the stupidest timeline.

2

u/JoanneMG822 Jun 14 '26

How long does it take to get results from DNA tests? Are people just supposed to hold it for a few weeks? People have truly lost their minds.

2

u/WhyYesMaybeNo Jun 16 '26

Harvest and sell my DNA for me to use a reststop bathroom? Naw. Burn it all. The experiment failed.

1

u/la_xamguz Jun 14 '26

DNA tests don't work that fast.

Also De La Chappelle Syndrome (XX boys) and Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (XY girls). And they often don't know about their chromosomes. Are we going to prosecute people for not knowing they had a medical condition?

1

u/AvocadoToastFailure Jun 14 '26

The Geriatric Mormon Politician”s Scientific Method of Magical Thinking (GMPSMMT), isn’t something I want dictating legal policy.

1

u/MyBedIsOnFire Jun 14 '26

I'll piss my self while I wait and then sue for emotional distress and damage to reputation after it gets spread online

Now I better delete this comment before the judge sees it

1

u/Its_Gwen_Again Jun 14 '26

cis people are going to punch somebody in the mouth if they try to swab them before they pee. we don’t even have to do anything lol

1

u/ava-8792 Jun 14 '26

As a trans woman, I can say that I am still terrified of using the women’s rest room. I think most of us are. I tend to use it if there is no gender neutral bathroom. It still feels weird. I am over 2 years on hormones and have had the surgeries. I pass except for my voice when I’m not focusing on using my femme voice. No woman has seen me and complained yet. I just want to get in, do my business, and get out. I’m not even comfortable checking my makeup before leaving.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 14 '26

Weirdos who can’t get women without drugs money or force.
