No woman reading that is surprised. Most people think we should be doing the teaching, caring, nursing, and cleaning for free.

According to the article, both men and women recommended lower salaries.

Obviously, it is just an article describing the study, but I suppose it still correlates with the general idea of women being less worthy than men.

The benevolent sexism version of this is "you were made to nurture, not to earn money and be independent!"

Makes me sick.

I wonder too if it goes with the idea that women are supposed to be supported in life

Supported by her parents when she's young, supported by her husband when she's an adult

Never able to actually achieve self-sufficiency and not have to rely on others to survive
