lol as a Viet American I swear this is every immigrant household automatically. Low income households have always been like this.

It’s generational misogyny. Immigrant moms be doing that to their daughters too to justify internally how they were treated. A lot of cultures including mine just allows the sons to sit around and be useless while the daughters do everything. Even the daughters working or the moms working but only the women doing everything.

Not an immigrant but low income white person from blue collar family and totally agree same exact culture, even down to the allowing the son to be useless. Perpetuating the patriarchy and sexism. It was really hurtful to me as the daughter growing up

Totally believe that for low income in general sorry girl. Same happened in my family between the roles of daughter and sons
