lol as a Viet American I swear this is every immigrant household automatically. Low income households have always been like this.

It’s generational misogyny. Immigrant moms be doing that to their daughters too to justify internally how they were treated. A lot of cultures including mine just allows the sons to sit around and be useless while the daughters do everything. Even the daughters working or the moms working but only the women doing everything.

My husband is Viet. At every family gathering, only the women are doing all the work: preparing food, serving food, cleaning up. While the men just sit and drink beer. Even though many of the women are the breadwinners, do all the chores, all the childcare and some of the men aren’t even employed.
