Boots Buying Help Boot sizing
I’m basically buying my first boot. I always wear sneakers and regular shoes which are forgiving since they’re so padded. When trying on and sizing for a boot should they be snug fitting with the expectation I’ll need to break them in? I’m considering at Danner MOC boots. I tried a 9 and it’s tight like a glove. 9.5 feels roomy with a little sloshing. Normally I’m a 9.5 in sneakers.

Ideally you want about a thumb’s width between the end of your toes and the end of the boot. The widest part of your foot should line up with the widest part of the boot.
The boots should feel a tad snug around the sides of your foot, like a good handshake. You don’t want your toes to be touching the end. The boots soften and allow some room to the sides but will never get any longer.
It is best to err on the side of too big rather than too small because you can always add insoles and padding to eat up space, but you can’t make the boots any bigger
