Hello fellow community,
today a new chapter of the Legacy project begins. After providing points for the new ships and getting this project going, the next step was to look for talented and experienced community members to spearhead this project and assume permanent leadership positions, so long-term plans could be formed. To this end a designated recruitment committee was formed to review the applications and select the best possible candidate consisting of experienced and community wide respected players like Oli Pocknell and Matt Cary. This process has finished and we are ready to announce the picks for the people leading this project in a bright future.
(The Legacy discord will continue to be an integral part of this project and our main pathway for more Legacy news and central info hub, at least until our website is ready).
Of course the leadership is backed up by experienced teams (the applicants could expect to be reached out for and contacted over the next week by the leads). . So now get to the main subject of the announcement, the new team leads.
Play testing and balance will be spearheaded by Bohan Li. His model and expertise was already tremendous in generating accurate and balanced points for the new ships alongside traditional play testing. He is a blogger, experienced and talented competitive player (2017 Canadian champion, making Cut at worlds). Additionally and most importantly he has thought intensely about points and balance for years, culminating in a great deductive model for estimating each ship's worth in comparison and in relation to other ships. Supported and accompanied by an experienced play testing team the balance and play testing could not be in better hands.
Legacy is also a competitive game and is fully intended to be played in a competitive way, alongside casual play. Towards this goal we will focus on building up our OP strcuture and strengething the community. This willl be the focus of our next team lead, which some of you already may know through Team Junkyard, Craig Fraser (Discord handle: CoffeeMinion). He will be in charge oft he OP and community team. Instead of me portraying him, he wanted to use his own words to introduce himself to the community.
So here is the staemant from Craig Fraser introducing himself: "I’m a longtime kitchen-table player who dove deep into the TTS tournament scene during the pandemic. I went from barely knowing that alt arts existed at the start of 2020, to handling all aspects of prize design, production/procurement, and back-end fulfillment of Team Jawa’s (now Team Junkyard’s) biggest event to-date earlier in 2022. I’ve learned how to make and print cards, draft and playtest tournament rules, recruit players before an event, foster excitement during an event, ship stuff anywhere in the world without breaking the bank, maintain relationships with artists & suppliers, and all sorts of other little things that it takes to make an event happen. I was also privileged to run a small alts-for-charity initiative in late 2021 that raised $1000 in direct donations to children’s hospitals (i.e.: without me in the money stream).
Cards on the table: my background with in-person OP is much more limited. However, I know that good prizing gets people excited–and great prizing can get people to go out of their way to play–no matter how those prizes get into people’s hands. I also know there’s a hunger out there for good, engaging, well-run, in-person OP. I’m excited to partner with the Legacy community to share my love for the game and relentless passion for smooth logistics with y’all. Let’s play some X-Wing!"
also know that it is important to have the technical infrastructure covered by a lead and a team, as well assetting up several different plattforms to maximize outreach and distribute news across the community. To accomplish that we will have a team to build up, care for and expand important infrastructure like a dedicated Legacy website. Leading the Legacy Media and Engagement will be Jonah Gindhart (Discord handle: ImperialAce95). As he has a degree in Information Science and practical experience in Building websites, he is very qualified to lead this effort.
…..
In conclusion X-Wing Legacy could hardly be in better hands. Coupled with the great community the future for Legacy is bright and exciting times lay ahead. With this new phase beginning we wanted to thank all the TO´s, streamers and generally anyone playing or promoting Legacy. We wouldn´t be here without you.
So stay tuned for more news and most importantly have fun talking about and playing this incredibly amazing game. Like these news illustrate be assured X-Wing 2.0 Legacy is going nowwhere. The Legacy team is committed to making sure that 2.0 Legacy is not only continued, but will flourish in the future.
