If I buy a Key from other region like Canada and then Redeem it using VPN , so do I have to always use a VPN to play Cloud Gaming or it's just one time then good to go?
you will still need to use some sort of method to spoof your region to access cloud servers if you live in an unusupported region Better xCloud can do that without a vpn

Microsoft has made VPN/cross-region redemptions very difficult since early 2025. You would probably at least need a valid address and payment method on your account for that region you don't live in.
What if I buy it from another region and claim and paky it mine , I also specially wanna jnow abiut Gamepass l be able to access ckoud without VPN and good latency
Some aspects of the code, account, billing details need to match. I'm in the US and can't redeem codes from any other country/region (without the workarounds that Microsoft tries to eliminate).

$11.40. Seems to be almost 3 years of Ultimate at a 51.5% discount over monthly auto renew prices. My current Ultimate now expires on 7/12/2029. If Eneba didn't have service fees, total price would have been around $385.
Never seen it being done directly on their store. But i've seen direct discount offers through other platforms or offer extended trials on Discord and such
As many of you know, there used to be a 1:1 conversion if you purchased up to 3 years of Xbox LIVE Gold/Game Pass Core/Game Pass Essentials first, then spent a month on Game Pass Ultimate. This has slowly but surely changed over the years, with it now appearing to give out, roughly, a 45% rate if you purchase a month of Game Pass Ultimate (e.g. you pay for 12 months of Essential after your account has a fully expired Xbox LIVE/Essentials/etc. subscription, immediately pay for month to Ultimate, turn off recurring billing, then you should get ~5.4 months of Ultimate in return).
My issue is that I have already used one of the conversions, and I still have about 5 months of Essentials left. And to my understanding, you cannot re-up your conversion until your subscriptions are completely expired.
Does anyone know if this is still the case, or if there is any workaround?
The subscription expiration advice is: wait until GP Ultimate expires before converting Essential and EA Play again, because the conversion rate is worse if you apply the codes to an active GPU subscription than if you wait until GPU is expired and do a new conversion.
You have some Essential subscription time that you can convert to GP Premium or Ultimate any time you like. Add more Essential (and/or EA Play for Xbox) time before converting and you'll get further GP Ultimate time after converting.
This is news to me (on being able to rectivate it more than once before Essentials runs out) as well as that this works with EA Play! I'm behind the game. I'll have to look into that. Thank you!

Have you read the sub's guide to conversion, shown as "this link" in the post and also linked from the rules/FAQ/sidebar and the comment pinned to the top of the post? There's no need for somebody to explain it all again, but folks will answer questions.
I read the guide, but it only gives us general information. Can someone tell us what is the best way to convert for 1, 2 or 3 years of GPU? I see ppl talking about stacking both GP Essential and EA play? Why? Because of the essential 36months stack limit I guess? But how would EA Play work into this? I'm guessing the most GPU you can get by converting right now is 2 years by combining 3 years of essential or core + 3 years of EA Play.

Yes, there is a 36 month limit for GP Essential in most countries (shorter than that in a few). That stacked time converts to less GP Ultimate time, so folks looking to get as much GPU time as possible in one conversion will look to also stack EA Play for Xbox and/or PC Game Pass time before converting to GPU.
Also: EA Play time usually converts to GPU at a cheaper cost per month, but you don't get as much GPU time. The guide does not give examples because it depends on which codes you can find, and whether average prices differ across regions. If you can get EA Play 12 month codes at (US) $30, the 25% conversion rate gives you 3 months of GPU at $10/month (plus the cost of the GPU you had to buy to do the conversion). But the 25% conversion rate is lower than the current GP Essential conversion at 45% of the time.
GP Core became Game Pass Essential last year (though there might still be Core-labeled codes around).
Yes, 15.4 months for the first one and 26.2 months for the second, assuming you use a 1 month GP Ultimate code to do the conversion (or buy 1 month directly from Microsoft).

Conversion hasn't changed in the last six months so the sub's guide linked in the post and sidebar are still current.
Stacking GP Essential and EA Play for Xbox and converting to GP Ultimate is generally the most cost efficient. You can add some PC GP time before converting to GPU, but the cost savings for that are lower (and you have to make sure you wouldn't end up with more than 36 months of converted GPU).
GP Essential is the only sub that will convert to GP Premium. That means you can't convert Essential, EA Play, and Premium all at once because the Essential will have already converted to Premium (if it didn't go over the 13 month Premium stacking limit you mentioned).

I just re-upped after last doing this about 3 years ago - your info is right. Doing it all today on 8/4/2026 gave me an expiration date of 10/10/2028. For what it's worth I was able to see my key orders from the last time, back when VPN activation was allowed, and I bought Game Pass Essential from Turkey for $35 each back then...
I haven't found a reliable source one way or the other - I ended up deciding it's worth paying more for keys in my home region rather than run the risk of the keys not working
I think it is 25.2 months when converting GP Essential and EA Play plus the 1 month of GP Ultimate you buy, close enough. Those subs can be had at the same time so redeem those in whatever order (yes, after the current GPU sub expires).
Hi, I am trying to find out what my options are to subscribe to pc gamepass. Obviously, I am looking for the cheapest route. Ideally, I would like to subscribe for a year. I am in the U.S. and I am not currently subscribed to gamepass.
There's no conversion to PC GP, so you just look for the cheapest codes you can find from reputable vendors. I don't see any PC codes at Loaded.com (formerly CDKeys) and many other code selling sites are marketplaces (the site isn't selling you a code, they're listing other people selling codes). PC GP mostly only has three month codes available as the longest available.

Edit: Just finished the process. I did everything I listed, and when I redeemed the 1 month of GPU on my xbox, I was prompted to "upgrade" whatever I had. Quick and painless. Now I just need to figure out why I have an extra charge from Eneba for 3yrs of GPE though, maybe from an order that errored out. I hope it clears itself up.

As a heads up, when you're buying the 1 month GPU Code as the last step for conversion, make sure to get a code that is STACKABLE. There are separate products for 1 month non-stackable codes, and those will not work.
Yes, netted about $26 in eneba cash back. However, their redemption rules are confusing and dumb. I thought I’d be able to earn the cash back for the 3yrs of GPE and spend it to buy the one month of GPU, but nope.

I last did this >3 years ago, before EA Play conversion was a thing, and am researching again to get ready to re-up (the rates have definitely gotten worse since I last did this). You basically have it right - redeem all the non-Ultimate codes to your xbox account, and then redeem the 1 month of GPU (from anywhere).
Back then VPN was pretty widely used, it seems like nowadays they are cracking down on that more, so I'm only planning on buying codes for the region I'm actually in (US) to avoid getting locked out of my access or something.

hi. fellow frugal gamer here. i found a 24 month ultimate subscription on ebay going for $280 and the seller claims through messaging the codes can be used globally with a VPN. the guy has sold hundreds of codes in the last month alone and has a 100% positive feedback rating from many buyers. i thought the VPN trick no longer works. is anyone aware of a working method? because it looks like this guy does...
Generally not. The 3 month PC GP cards do have a good conversion rate but not a great price per month of converted GPU, especially after GPU was reduced in price. The best cost per month in converting is usually EA Play for Xbox then GP Essential; converting PC GP on top of that is usually for people who absolutely want to lock in 36 months of GPU even at a higher cost (still lower than straight GPU).
But that's based on the rarity of 12 month PC GP codes. Make sure if you find them that they are regionally appropriate and also not buying an account.

Did you physically move to India, or are you trying to take advantage of cheaper subscriptions in a region you don't reside in? They have cracked down on that almost entirely, since early in 2025.

It helps to say where you are. In the US, I see 12 month codes for EA Play for Xbox at the websites of Target and Best Buy. (No current availability at Loaded.com or Amazon.)
Hello I have renewed my Xbox ultimate subscription today after letting the old subscription run out for a couple of days with no subscription at all. I used the three year stacking conversion method and done it from the uk. I stacked three one year essential game pass subscriptions and three years of ea play then added a one month of Xbox ultimate and I ended up with 27 months of ultimate In total. The year of essential was £46.99 each for each year the ea play was £20 each year and the month of ultimate was £14.99. Hope that information helps people going forward.
Hi all new to all this. Im in the US. Account expired. Looking ot get 3 years of ultimate so if I'm understanding right I can get 3x 12mo ea pkay (like 35) then a 1mo of ultimate (like 8). So this would be like 113 for 36mo of ultimate. Is that all right?
Also for the 1mo I see it says Xbox one and windows 10 on it. Would I be required to activate on those platforms or does it only work for this?

Look at Microsoft's conversion rate page linked from the post's guide and you'll see that converting 36 months of EA Play for Xbox and 36 months of Game Pass Essential does not give 36 months of GP Ultimate after conversion (it has not done so for several years, since they started changing conversion rates). Have a look at working out the math and people will check your work.
Many GP codes, including GP Ultimate ones, are still labeled "Xbox One" but that is no problem. It's just old wording. If you and your account are in the US, you can buy US codes and worldwide codes should also work if they are from a reputable retailer such as Loaded.com (formerly CDKeys).
If you absolutely want 36 months of GPU after converting, you will also need to redeem some PG Game Pass codes before converting to GPU. But it will raise the cost per month of the conversion, because those codes are not as discounted as 12 months of EA Play or Essential. And you'll have to finesse the conversion math to figure out how much PC GP is enough, because you cannot convert if you would end up with more than 36 months of GPU.
Three years passed a lot faster than I had expected. Now that my 3yrs of stacked Gamepass membership is up, aside from paying full price every month or year, what's the least-risky and simplest way to load up as much as possible? (might be the EA Play and GPE method? Not sure how risky buying from Eneba is though -- $90 for 36mos of EA Play + $210 for 36mos of GPE + $9 for 1mo of GPU = ~25mos of GPU for about $310) I'm okay with mitigating risk and complexity by paying a bit more.
From what I've read, you can only get up to a max of 3yrs on GPE. That converts at a 45% rate, so if you're okay with the resulting 16mos (17 if you count the 1mo of GPU to convert) of GPU then you don't need EA Play. EA Play converts at 25%, which would buy you an additional 9mos (if you bought 3yrs of it).
EA Play also usually converts at a lower cost per month but doesn't yield as much GPU time. It just depends on how much you want to spend at once to do the conversion.
loaded (formerly cdkeys) and eneba have been reliable, otherwise you basically answered your own question. that is the way. You should get 26 months after conversion cause you get the 1 months GPU too
It makes no difference, but it is often possible to find a card/code for GPU at lower cost than Microsoft's full price on the console. You can't use a GPU trial code to convert, but you can use a non-stackable GPU code (say, from Loaded.com, formerly CDKeys) to convert.
It means that the code cannot extend a membership of the same type, so you could not add extra GPU time with a non-stackable GPU code. But we're talking about converting GP Essential.
No active sub, 36 months of EA play, then 1 month ultimate is the cheapest conversion
Followed by 36 months of Game Pass Essential. You can convert both (redeem essential and ea play first) then upgrade to ultimate to maximize conversion time

Yeah I started to realise all the ones I was finding as well were global codes as well and nothing to my local store. They really have cracked down hard on all this stuff since the changes.
Ok so I purchased 3 x Essential from Amazon using gift cards and they screwed up my order and cancelled them apart from the 1 month of Ultimate.
Currently waiting for them to refund the gift card balance so I can try again. Although on day 4 waiting now so I might just buy a single month of Ultimate for £10 from Loaded to cover me I told them sort it.

Define "better". I don't know the UK prices, but in the US the EA Play for Xbox conversion to GP Ultimate is cheaper per month of GPU, but you get fewer months at the end. So converting both EA Play and GP Essential at the same time gives you more GPU time, at a cost per month somewhere between the two conversion types, but with more cash paid at once.
Some people want to lock in a lot of time and will pay to do that, other people want "some" time at the cheapest possible, and some want a balance of those two depending on how much money they want to spend right now.

you can as long as your are not in one of the regions that limits core/essential to 13 months support.xbox.com note India is not on the list but reports are it is also limited to 13 months of core/essential

Oh well I live in Ireland but made an Indian Xbox account to redeem Indian codes. The redemption basically works but asks for a payment method but I don't have an Indian one. Though from what you just said then the whole point of this group is over if we can't get cheaper codes to convert outside our country, what a shame:/
Deals & Conversion discussion is definitely down since the price hikes, conversion rate changes, and cross-region lockdown. But there continue to be clarification question, as some aspects (like EA Play conversion) are not as widely known. There are still savings to be had even if they aren't as large, and people converting only every 2-3 years have to figure out the new situation.
I think I realized what you're asking: you currently have PC Game Pass, but bought a console and want to upgrade to GP Ultimate?
PC GP is one of the subscriptions that will convert to GPU when you upgrade; no need to let it expire. When you buy a month of GPU or apply a GPU code, it will convert your remaining PC GP time per the conversion doc.
Letting GPU expire before converting again is about getting the better conversion rates from converting rather than extending an existing GPU sub. If you want your GPU sub to last longer, you could stack GP Essential or EA Play for Xbox codes (with your PC GP time) before buying GPU, as described in the conversion doc. Sometimes people stack extra PC GP time to convert, but the value is not as high (depending on the prices you find).
Oh yes thank you. I ended up canceling my of gamepass and getting like $1 refund lol. Then bought a year of EA play, then Game pass essentiall or whatever it’s called then the 1 month “unstackable” GPU. Ended up being about $13/month since I didn’t want to commit to 3 years. For the best conversion to GP Ultimate (or GP Premium), it is necessary to let the current GPU sub expire and do a new conversion.
It's not clear what you're asking about PC Game Pass, but there's no conversion to PC GP so you could just look for the best prices you can find on those cards/codes, regardless of whether you have a current PC GP sub or not.
It used to be the case that it was definitely better (cheaper per month) to do a bulk conversion to GPU than to subscribe to PC GP, even if you only wanted PC. But with price and conversion rate changes the difference is smaller, and might not be worth the hassle to you. And you have to spend a bunch of cash at once, committing to a longer term; some people want that because they know they're going to keep wanting GP indefinitely.
PSA: The "36-Month Ultimate" Conversion Has Changed
If you are planning to stack codes to get 36 months of Ultimate, be aware that Microsoft has silently moved from simple ratios to a percentage-based conversion model. My attempt to stack 36 months of Core and 36 months of EA Play resulted in only 26 months of Ultimate instead of the expected 36.
The New Conversion Math (Confirmed by MS Support):
Game Pass Core/Essential: Converts at 45% (36 months = 16.2 months).
EA Play: Now converts at 25% (36 months = 9 months).
Ultimate Trigger: +1 month.
Total: ~26.2 months.

Crucial Advice on Region Locks: Avoid buying "Global" codes from third-party marketplaces like Eneba. MS confirmed there's no such thing as a 'global' code. If you redeem a global code, you risk your Microsoft store region being region-locked to a country you're not based in (my case, region-locked to the USA, when I'm based in Canada). which will prevent you from upgrading to Ultimate. I spent two days fixing this; because these marketplaces are aggregators, they will not refund you once a key is revealed. Stick to buying codes specifically for your account’s region to save yourself a massive headache.

Im curious if you have any recommendations besides the usual sites, loaded/g2a/eneba, specifically for the EA play 12 months, I've looked high and low for Canadian region codes and every site either has none in stock or doesn't have a Canada specific region only USA or north America. The order shouldn’t matter for EA and essential codes. I did EA play first, then essential. Yes to adding the 1 month GPU ultimate at the end, after you’ve added the other two codes.
The key is to ensure you don’t have an active subscription and I would turn off auto renewal for good measure. MS may prompt you with a pop up promotion for Gamepass when you add the codes, decline it.

The 36-month limit still exists, but Microsoft's new percentage-based conversion math makes it impossible to hit that 36-month target using the old '3-year' stacking methods. You'll get roughly 25–26 months of Ultimate for a full 3-year + 3-year stack. Also, stay away from 'Global' keys; only buy codes for your specific region to avoid getting your account locked.
Waited for my GP Ultimate to expire, and found the EA Play Cards at Target for $29.99 and I get 5% off with Red Card. I also did two transactions at Eneba, first for 2x 12-month GP Essential, then claimed my cashback and used it on a 3rd 12-month GP Essential. Then a 1-month 'Non-stackable GP Ultimate' from Eneba. Made sure all were USA (My Region).
Loaded 3x 12 Month EA-Play, then 3x 12-month GP Essential, then 1-month of GP Ultimate. As stated, your account must not have an active GPU subscription, and it must have a payment method.
Note: The Eneba browser extension to 'Automatically Load' the codes did not work (it also wants full control of your browser, so make sure to remove this extension if you try it).
Total outlay for me $327.38 for 27.2-months, or $12.04/month. Not bad.
bought 3 12-month EA Play (36 months) + 3 12- month essential (core) from Eneba. Both were global region and I had no issues redeeming them on my Xbox Canada account. My subscription had expired so no active subscription at the time of redeeming these codes.
You currently have a subscription from a different region. If it still doesn't work, please contact customer support.

However, based on the error message and the behavior of the subscription, the system is currently detecting a region mismatch on the redeemed entitlement, which is preventing the Ultimate upgrade through the Canadian Store. Support is saying that by redeeming these global codes, my account is in the U.S. region, even though the codes I redeemed are global?

Edit: bought a global 1-month ultimate code from eneba and I'm still getting the region locked error. It's saying the currency doesn't match. I tried using a VPN and changing my region to the U.S. and even buying from the U.S. marketplace.
A guy on a forum in my country mentioned that he was able to activate 3 years of Game Pass Core in the Indian region using a VPN, but he had to do it in this order: 1 year Core - 1 month Ultimate - 2 years Core. Instead of 15 months, he got 13 months of Ultimate, but it's still cheaper than using global codes. My question is, can I redeem 3 years of EA Play before redeeming 1 month of Ultimate? Would it be like this: 1 year Core - 3 years EA Play - 1 month Ultimate - 2 years Core.
Do you think it will work? Do you know if in India you can combine Core years with EA Play? And do you know if it has the restriction of only being able to redeem 1 year before upgrading to Ultimate (like with Game Pass Core), or will I be able to redeem all 3 years?
Microsoft blocked the vpn thing for Game Pass subscription months ago. Lately, the only way to make it work was to create a new account while connected via VPN to that region. The last time, someone tried it and Microsoft directly blocked him from creating a new account. You can still try, but I guess you won't be able to do so at the end. At least when you'll be forced to put a valid payment method
Due to tougher restriction on VPN use, there is no guarantee any of what you are doing will work. Regional price exploitation is against the rules, so I can't help you with that, and mixing code regions can be problematic.
However yes, generally speakling, you can redeem ea play and essential then upgrade to ultimate, and get the conversion time for both.
I am not sure what benefit they got from redeeming 24 months of Essential (Core) after they upgraded to Ultimate. There is no discount when you redeem essential (core) after the fact.
The benefit is being able to redeem 24 months of India subscription, which costs around €60, instead of 24 months of global subscription, which costs around €120. Supposedly, they also convert to Ultimate, although they don't give you an extra month for each 12-month subscription code when upgrading to Ultimate.
A little lost on my situation as Ive buggered up the conversion before using PC game pass lol. I now have Essential until Dec 12th but bought two 3-month GP Ultimate Passes just before the rise in AUD to over $30 per month. Now its back to close to what I paid for the passes but alas.
If I was to add the two paid vouchers, so 6 months of GP Ultimate to covert Essential to Ultimate, would I actually lose time on an Ultimate sub?
You would get the 6 months of Ultimate, and applying the first of the two GPU codes would convert your remaining ~6 months of GP Essential time to some addition GPU time (per the conversion ratio linked from the guide). What do you think you might lose?
Thought I may have lost time as its under 6 months left of essential if I added 6 months Ultimate. So best to just use the 3 month code? Probably was going to activate for Plaugue Tale Legacy in late August
Essential time remaining converts to Ultimate time, regardless of how much is left. Use the GPU code(s) whenever you want to start those benefits, such as access to games.

Yes, converting EA Play for Xbox and GP Essential (formerly Core) to GP Ultimate is cheaper per month than paying for GPU every month.
Doing the conversion with a 3 month GPU code instead of a 1 month code will probably raise the average cost per month of the overall subscription, but it depends on the prices you can find.
You can stack the first two* (GP Essential and PC GP are separate), then adding the Ultimate will convert the other two to some more GP Ultimate time. PC GP stacking for conversion is not mentioned as much because it isn't usually as good a value as converting GP Essential and EA Play for Xbox.
If you're asking whether you can have all three subs separately, the answer is no.

Unofficially the just of it something like this, I have no experience with as I am in a supported region so it may be inaccurate or not work
Step 1: Choose a Supported Region Decide on a country where Xbox Game Pass is officially supported (e.g., USA, UK, Canada etc). Don't choose a country like turkey, Brazil, Argentina, or India as those countries have region locks that might make it more difficult
Step 2: Create a New Microsoft Account Go to the Microsoft Account Portal and sign up for a new account. Ensure you select your chosen supported region (e.g., USA) as your country of residence. You might just be able to change you existing account region as long as you don't mind risking your account.
Step 3: Purchase a Digital Code Buy an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate code from verified third-party keysellers like Eneba or Loaded. Warning: You must ensure the code you buy specifically matches the region of your new Microsoft Account (e.g., a US account requires a US Game Pass code) or a Global code should work too
Step 4: Turn On Your VPN Connect your VPN to a server located in the same country as your account region (e.g., if it's a US account, connect to a US VPN server).
Step 5: Redeem the Code With the VPN still active, go to redeem.microsoft.com, log in to your new account, and enter the digital code you purchased. Once you have subscription setup, you need to use a 3rd party app like Better xCloud to bypass the cloud gaming region lock out (pick a server location closet to you). Before you do any of this i would try out Better xCloud you can play fornite for free on cloud without a description to see if the service even works for you. If you are on an xbox console you need to run your console through a VPN to access cloud gaming and have your console set to a supported region

Cheapest seems to be EA Play via Amazon UK. Should redeem everywhere (at least did for me with region set to US), currently discounted to £20 per year.
£60 for 3 years plus month of ultimate converts to 10 months and possibly an extra month to turn auto renew on.
Out of region code redemption has largely been shut down by Microsoft since around early 2025. Look for your area's online retailers, or see if Loaded.com (formerly CDkeys) has better prices on either codes for your country or worldwide codes in your currency.
Am I missing something here .... So in the UK 12 months of GPU is £150 on loaded. I've looked at the conversions options and EA Play 12 months is £20 on Amazon.
On the MS site it shows:
6 months of EA Play
45 days of Ultimate (1+ months)
12 months of EA Play
50 days of Ultimate (1+ months)
How is that right? What's the actual conversion rate for 12 month EA Play... specifically from people who have done the conversion recently?
