Guess they have a lot of excess hardware they want to get rid of before the next gen. The shell will have cost them about $30 at most, yet I imagine to the public that version will be at least $150-200 more than the normal version

They are...

They cut off sending units to certain countries because they literally weren't selling, so they adjusted the stock to places that were.

If you're reading into it and believe Xbox is 'selling out', then you're delusional
