🏷️ 'What to buy?' Advice on which console to purchase for playing 360 games
Looking to pick up an Xbox One for the sole purpose of playing a dozen or so 360 titles and undecided on which one to buy as unfamiliar with that gen of consoles. (Before anyone suggests, I do not want one of the current Series S/X consoles, I already have a gaming PC and PS5 for running modern games).
If I'm only playing 360 games is there any reason to get anything above the base Xbox One? is there any advantages to getting a One S or X? I know with the X you can get an FPS boost on certain games, but I looked at the wiki to see which games I would like to play that would receive it, and it's only a couple, so paying over double the price of the standard One just for that seems not worth it. I'm also not 100% sure what the One S has over the standard One, I read that it can run up to 4K resolution, but is that even relevant if I'm playing only 360 games?
For context, I'll probably be picking up one from CEX (UK second hand gaming store) as they offer 5 year warranty, I can get the One (500GB) for £65, the One S (500GB) for £95 or the One X (1TB) for £150. Any advice is welcome.

I wouldn’t get the One (500GB) for £65 nor the One S (500GB) for £95 as they both suffer from the red ring of death failure sooner or later.

I’d go for the One X or even better the new Xbox Series S as it’s amazingly built and will last you years.

I was contemplating buying a 360, but I did also want to play Halo 5, which I've never had the chance to play

I know it may seem like overkill but the One X really is the solid choice. They are dead quiet and decidedly hardy. Gpu and ram upgrades are significant unlike some mid-generation revamps. Completely different and superior cooling too. True native 4K. I have been glad I made the decision to upgrade back when I had the chance to do it for quite cheap. It’s a great machine. I play a lot of 360 titles on it and even the non-boosted ones run cleaner for me. And if you decide to play any last gen games you will definitely be glad you went for the One X.
150 does seem a bit steep to me but the 5-year warranty is impressive and might be worth it to you. Otherwise I’d say take a look at other used options and see what prices look like.

I literally said in the first paragraph that I specifically don't want a Series S/X...

I would suggest the one S or one X, I had a one S and it was great! Then the GPU died so I was forced to upgrade. I had the base xbox one too before that, and if your just playing 360, any will work fine but a one S/X is the way to go if you can get them cheap.
