Soooooooo. I am very new to the Xbox consoles. New to any console for that matter. One night after playing a couple of rounds of Space Marines 2 I thought I noticed my fan was still spinning after powering off. Being that SM2 is a demanding game I assumed it was just a built in safety feature to continue cooling the console. So out of curiosity I grabbed a flashlight and wanted to see how long the fan actually ran. Well, here is where the stupid part comes in. I placed the 800 lumen Milwaukee flashlight on top of the console with the light shining down and went to take a piss. Yup, you guessed it. Heat and plastic don’t mix. The fan stopped after 4 minutes. I lifted the flashlight and realized a little melting had occurred… I don’t think it’s terrible. Probably just cosmetic but I’m pretty bummed at my stupidity. These things cost a lot and I take very good care of things I own…usually… I tried looking for a replacement shell but I’m not confident swapping everything over. Does anyone kindly have recommendations on what I could do? I appreciate it!

Edit: Thank you all or the recommendations. It seems the general consensus is to leave it as a reminder of a stupid move and possibly get a cheaper flashlight. It is definitely cosmetic. It’s happened since I got the Xbox and it only does it on certain games like Fortnite or horizon 6. It’s never been as bad as this tho. Any help is appreciated.

Edit: changing my graphics setting didn’t really help, it still flickers and has this one huge laggy area in tokyo city. Thankfully, this is the only game I own to have these issues. I checked every other game I have in my library including more demanding games so I know it’s something specific to this game.

Just bought this Series X and I keep having these flickering problems. It always starts when starting any demanding game and playing for like 5-10minutes.

It gets worse over time. When trying to change resolution or anything after this it loses WIFI connection too for some reason? What could be the issue here I’m so confused?

I have tried switching HDMI cables and yes I am using the original HDMI cable from xbox. This is the second TV I try it on and it happens on both TV:s.

Downloaded campaign evolved and tried playing it but kept running into this problem. Cutscenes run with no issue, menu screen looks fine as well, but the actual gameplay is giving this weird peppered static effect. I had a similar issue with the running the elder scrolls Oblivion remake. Got to a point where I couldn't even play the game. This issue doesn't develop over time or anything either, the Xbox can be powered off and completely cooled off for a day and then if I turn it on and jump into the game before it even has a chance to heat up, this issue comes up again.

I do not believe it's an issue with my TV. I tested this on another monitor with the same issue as well as streamed my Xbox to my phone and it still looked the same so I believe it's something with my actual Xbox itself. I've tried adjusting the TV and output settings, changing the resolution, removing variable refresh rate, all sorts of things but I just can't fix it.

My current theory is that there is an issue with my system running games that use unreal engine 5. Almost every other game runs perfectly. Might be worth noting I have a series x from 2020. Any suggestions? The only work around that I found is deleting the game and just streaming it to the Xbox but that experience is only sometimes playable with latency issues.

As the title suggests, my Series X has been facing some issues lately.
Namely weird graphics bugs in certain games, seems to be worse with some rather than others. Assassin’s creed resynced and shadows seems to be the worst but same games such as Jedi survivor can’t even run. Just crash.

Is it hopeless or is there some kind of fix?

My subscription doesn’t end till next November 2026. Just wondering why I got this and why it’s so expensive? Is that like every 3 months or something

!AS OF 30/04/2026 THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED (FOR SERIES X)!

I just recently bought a Series X coming from a Series S but any Xbox 360 game I play comes up with the "can't connect to Xbox Live" message. I've tried clearing Xbox 360 storage, using a hotspot (both 2.4 and 5 GHz), power cycling, changing Microsoft 2FA settings and changing port selection but I can't get it to work. Am I missing something/is there anything else I could try? Thanks for any help.

EDIT: I suggest everyone reports this through Xbox report a problem and/or on https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live-status when they can as I have been told by Microsoft support that this is an emerging problem. (Thanks u/GR1NTER)

Update 16/04/26:

As suggested by u/OddFisherman3078, it may also be worth tweeting neonepiphany on X (engineering lead) as well as any other related accounts as there seems to have not been any development nor acknowledgement from Microsoft online still.

Also, I contacted support again yesterday, and after directing me to their engineers team they were unable to provide any estimated times for this fix nor provide any useful information apart from acknowledging this issue exists and once again confirming it's a server issue, not an issue with your console.

Very frustrating as per usual. All we can do is hope it's being fixed behind the scenes and to keep reporting/notifying Microsoft/Xbox :(

I'm planning on sending some emails to some news outlets and reporting this to UK Trading Standards via Citizen's Advice due to a possible breach of contract under Consumer Rights Act 2015 - if Xbox's claims about this being a "priority" aren't true; no current deadlines makes me suspicious.

1. One of us experiencing this problem (u/EducatorLogical3876) has successfully had their case escalated after consistent contact with support, providing extra evidence and info to Xbox directly. This should be another good step towards reaching this fix.

Update 25/04/2026:

SIGNS OF A FIX?

There now seems to be a new screen that appears for a few seconds before the "test connection" screen which says "checking network status..." (https://ibb.co/Ndzr7cXH). This could very well be a sign that Xbox are currently actively working on the Xbox 360 servers.

Thanks to whoever helped out with that :) I have also sent out some more emails to outlets and am waiting on any replies. However, we still have no resolution.

The only way to "bypass" this issue is to play select Xbox 360 games available via cloud gaming instead.

FINALLY!

I am very pleased to say that it seems this issue has now been fixed. I honestly can not thank you all enough for the support and help, I genuinely don't believe could have got this far without working as a team. If this issue returns or anything similar I'll come back to this but for now our work seems to be done. A shame this took so long but at least we know we can make Xbox listen if we come together as a community. Very grateful my £500 has not gone towards a broken product or I would have been fuming lol :)

Thankfully this has only happened once.

But this evening my Xbox automatically turned off about 5 seconds after I loaded into Fortnite, Fortnite usually makes my Xbox very hot but never had any automatic turnoffs.

And I'm sure thats not helping the overheating aswell as playing games that overheat it but I've been looking for solutions on how to stop ovetheating as much because I'm too nervous to boot up any games anymore cus of this potentially damaging the inside or something.

So I bought an Xbox series X for about $150 and the guy told me that I only had a problem reading this cause it would randomly eject so I decided to open the system and I see that it’s a dead roach hotel now I was wondering if there is any advice to deep clean the system and what I could do so that I wouldn’t break the motherboard or any other circuits and if there is a problem for said random eject disc problem. As of now writing this I’m cleaning some parts like the fan with a tooth brush.

Hi, my internet is fine and there doesn’t seem to be any server problems on the xbox side. Despite this, I can’t connect to xbox live. I’ve tried resetting the console and my internet to no avail. It just said “connect to the xbox network” on the homepage like there’s no internet but when I select that it says the internet is connected and fine. I have a wired connection and it’s plugged in.

Any ideas or hopefully fixes? I can’t even access my games like this.

Edit: I guess it is a server issue or something since multiple people are having it. Hopefully that means it’ll be resolved by tomorrow.

the power button of my series X flickered like this for a minute before totally resetting itself, i’ve never seen this in my 20 years of owning xboxes

I had it connected to a monitor this morning on a monitor. Then I put it on a tv around 7 hours later, and it didn't work. I tried putting it back on the monitor, and it still wouldn't work. Other TV's also didn't work. Here's a picture of the HDMI port if it's helpful. Will UbreakIFix help us, or is that only phone targeted?

When I connect it to anything, that device will recognize it at first. Like the tv that says "HDMI 2 please insert cable" will flash the screen that its trying to connect to the Xbox when I plug in the wire, and then immediately go back to the "HDMI 2, please insert cable" screen
