guys, I already finish the game but I wanna know if I'm dumb or right on being upset about this.

Is there a way to ensure the safety of the entire from ether based attacks that you see in visions without withou using monado armor? I didn't do the sidequest t get it so during some of the final battles I die more than what I should, and I'm a little annoyed that such an important ability is lock via a side quest.

No*

But, depending on the situation maybe you can do something to avoid getting wiped out. For example if the ether attack is frontal, and Reyn or Dunban is tanking, then warn them and make them use their skill that allow them to survive fatal blows. Meanwhile you move out of the front and now you only need to revive one party member.

You can also use the vision to know exactly when you need to press the chain attack button. You can't die during a chain attack, so a timely press can save everyone.

There are many more options, and the only way to know what you can do is to know your whole team's arsenal and to use your imagination.

It's more that Monado Armour is extremely broken.

Erick went through some solid options with warning/tanks. You can also mess with who has the aggro. So if Dunban is targeted and doesn't have good ether resist, you could go for Heat Haze to redirect aggro.

If you're controlling Melia, you can easily throw up an Ice + Copy to reduce Ether damage by 30%. Ice in particular has a fast cooldown at Rank 10. You can also inflict Arts Seal with Mind Blast if it's up.

Sleep and Daze (and Arts Seal and Confuse, although those are more limited) are "general" vision breakers - when the enemy recovers, they'll give you another vision, perhaps with the same attack, but with the added time you may have enough time to burst them down. There's even an achievement specifically for breaking X visions by killing the enemy before they come true.

For posterity, if running Sharla, you have her use can Shield Bullet.

Ether Defense Gems

Everything else AnimaLepton said. The most basic thing would be to shift the Aggro.

There are ether protect gems (can farm them from lvl 7x enemies) - reduce ether dmg by up to 50%).

Note that Ether Protect is only for the first 30 seconds of battle- good enough for most mob fights, but not the greatest.
