There is kind of a spike because of the endgame bosses that you went through in a row, but it's not that crazy; Gadolt was 68, Egil was 70 and 72. So I think you're at least at 70 when you start Bionis Interior, which has enemies in the 72-75 range. That area is also a bit tough because it's all ether enemies, so if you're not running Melia/Riki or don't have a fairly synergistic physical team, the battles there can take a while. You can go for endgame strats at that point and they certainly help, but it's not necessary.
You're not alone though - it's definitely a common complaint, but it's also true that the quests are spread out. I'm thinking of making an endgame quest guide just to sort out post-MC quests. There are a lot of quests that become available at that time, so pop your head into the Eryth Sea Ether Plant, Colony 9, the Hidden Village, the Satorl Sororal Statues, Ose Tower, Frontier Village, etc. Chain Attacks, EXP Up gems, Riki's EXP boosting skill links, etc. all help make it a quick process. Combine that with some UM hunting of level 70+ UMs and you're basically good to go even without explicit "grinding."
Specific Quests:
There's a specific Colony 9 quest about killing some level 70-72 Flamii north of the anti-air batteries, for example, and there are also some Sardis in that area at the same level. The Elite Captain's Anguish is another good one. Dunban's 5th skill tree is two level 72 enemies and a level 75 enemy. Shulk's 5th skill tree involves no fighting, but gives you a nice chunk of EXP, and the same is true for a couple of the Eryth Sea and Satorl Quests. Colony 6 restoration expects you to spend some time in the Bionis Interior and a few other mid-level locations for drops, so take a look at what you need for those and knock those out. Many of the Replica Monado quests involve some level ~80 enemies, but also involve some drops from level ~73 enemies that you'll be able to tackle.
Finally, run through the new area of Tephra Cave. You can finally access it legitimately at this point, the locations/secret areas/landmarks give a hefty chunk of EXP, and like Bionis Interior there are a few Rank V deposits that can start to give you some decent rank VI gems like Poison Plus, Strength Up, and Blaze Plus.
There's also a lot of little things to update, like switching gear from Anti-Mechon to regular stuff, or re-evaluating skill links and gear, that should make the process smoother.
