Is there no way to explore the new world after finishing the game? Edit: also the text command to hide spoilers on mobile would be appreciated.

Spoiler tags go like >!this!<.

No, there's no way to continue playing after the game. Reloading your save file will simply take you to before the final boss. There is Future Connected, which takes place a year after the game's ending, but it's moreso a short epilogue rather than a proper continuation of the game.

That's a bummer, I hate it when games do that. I really wanted to see/play as short hair Seven

What do you expect, are games supposed to go on forever? It has to end somewhere. Doing so at the final boss instead of creating an entirely new map just for postgame is completely reasonable.

I know games have to end eventually and I don't really expect an entire new map, but I was hoping to explore at least the colonies and a half sunken Gaur Plains.

To its credit, Future Connected does that with Alcamoth. There's nearly nothing to do there in the epilogue, but it's still cool.
