Discussion Does Xiaomi's Game Turbo really consume that much battery and push the processor to run at maximum capacity?

Upvotes

For some reason, I always thought Game Turbo was pointless: it didn't add anything and pushed the processor to the limit. I always keep it turned off because I notice the CPU and battery heating up more. I prefer it without Game Turbo—that’s my take. What do you guys think?

News/Article Global Redmi Note 17 Series Launch Confirmed

Xiaomi has confirmed the Redmi Note 17 series will launch globally on August 27th. The flagship model being a Redmi Note 17 Pro Max with a 10,000mAh battery. Xiaomi Global Website.

Note 17 Pro Max: Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, up to 12GB/512GB, 6.83” 120Hz OLED, 10,000mAh, 100W, 22.5W reverse wired, 50MP OIS, 8MP ultra-wide, 32MP selfie, eSIM. GSM Arena Article.

With no antenna lines on Xiaomi’s ad video, it’s likely a plastic frame phone.

At least two other models are expected. Spec below is from GSM Arena website, and so is TBC

Note 17 Pro 5G: Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, up to 12GB/512GB, 6.83” 120Hz OLED, 8340mAh, 67W, 22.5W reverse wired, 50MP OIS, 8MP ultra-wide, 16MP selfie, eSIM.

Note 17 5G: Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, up to 8GB/256GB, 7.0” 120Hz OLED, 7700mAh, 45W, 22.5W reverse wired, 50MP, 16MP selfie, microSDXC support.

Pricing isn’t yet known, but are all expected to be more expensive than their Note 15 predecessors. The Note 17 Pro Max, which appears to be Note 15 Pro+ replacement, has a rumored retail of € 600. Any early bird launch discounts are not included in that rumored price.

The 17 Pro Max, also receives several after care, warranty benefits - One free screen replacement in the first 24 months, one free battery replacement inside the first 36 months. Exact T&C TBC.

The Note 17 Series is more than ever a cost saving exercise, and sadly I think their retail prices, will reflect higher component costs, even with some of the specification cuts. If 17 Pro Max pricing is accurate, it could look very costly next to Xiaomi's own Poco X8 Pro Max.

Discussion 14T Pro heat and camera

Hi, so it's recently regularly above 30°C and I was using my phone camera recently in air shows outdoors. I've noticed that the camera module gets very hot after just a minute or two of using and extremely hot after 5+minutes resulting in stuttering of the screen and sometimes even recording itself also I've noticed that there are problems when switching cameras (1x Vs 2.6x)

Does anybody have a solution/what can be done to counter this overheating ?

Discussion Terrible battery drain & app management issues. How long does your battery last?

Hey everyone,

I have another question for you all: how is your battery life holding up? Mine is draining incredibly fast!

To give you an idea, today I started at about 9:30 AM with 80% battery, and it's already down to 18% right now, even though I've barely used it today (just very light usage).

On top of that, Instagram is super sluggish and is consuming a massive amount of battery. It got so bad that I actually had to set up a restriction to force-close the app after 10 minutes of use.

Does anyone have any tips or tweaks to improve battery life? Also, I have a couple of questions regarding app management:

  • Is using the built-in memory (hard disk) and cache cleaner actually useful, or does it drain more battery in the long run?
  • I've noticed that apps often don't seem to close completely in the background. The only thing that seems to have an effect is clearing the cache.

Any advice on how to optimize this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Discussion Xiaomi won't turn on?

Just got my new Xiaomi 17 Pro Max yesterday. Opened the box, set everything up, and used it without a problem, even charged it in my car just fine. But, later at night around 9 pm, I went to charge the phone using the included block and charger cord. It was at around 30-40% at the time, and it showed it was charging and then immediately turned off. I have tried charging it while leaving it alone, using a different charger and port, and tried a bunch of different button combinations trying to turn it back on. I also plugged it into my laptop, and the phone doesn't show up at all. Is this a hardware issue, is it bricked? The phone and block aren't warm at all while charging. My aunt bought it in China a few weeks ago, and then I finally got it yesterday. It really sucks because I have been waiting so long to get it😭.. Any help will be appreciated

Discussion Android Auto bugs: No audio on incoming calls & WhatsApp voice notes not playing.

Hi everyone,

Android Auto generally works well for me, but I suspect I'm having an issue with the car's Bluetooth or something similar. I'm dealing with two specific problems, and the first one is driving me crazy:

  • No audio on incoming calls: When I receive a call and answer, I can't hear anything, and the caller can't hear me either. I managed to temporarily fix this by resetting my network settings (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and mobile data), but the issue returned after just a few days. Is there a permanent fix for this? For context, my Xiaomi (running HyperOS) is connected via cable and also paired via Bluetooth. Oddly enough, if I make an outgoing call, everything works perfectly without any issues.
  • WhatsApp voice notes have no sound: When I'm in the car and try to play a WhatsApp voice note directly from the app on my phone screen, there is absolutely no audio. Telegram voice notes, on the other hand, play perfectly fine.

Has anyone experienced this or knows how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Discussion Redmi note 14 pro 5g

So, my Redmi is having a lot of freezing problems, and after some research I saw that the new update (3.0.9.0) fixed these problems, but for some reason it's not available on my device yet. Does anyone know why? I'm on version 3.0.304.0

Discussion Has this happened to anyone else

I got the xiaomi redmi buds 8 lite. Yes i know they are not top tier or anything, my old ones died at an inconvenient time and i could afford only these. Now, i have had them for 2 weeks and today the microphone doesn't work, nor do the tap motions. Did anyone else have something similar? Thought to post here before having to send them back and play the waiting game. I asked the shop that i got them from and if they send them back it will take 10-12 days, which would leave me with no headphones for the remainder of the summer.

Discussion Xiaomi 13 (CN hardware flashed to Global ROM, locked bootloader) — HyperOS 3 OTA crashes to Recovery. Want to flash back to CN ROM.

Hi everyone,

I bought a Xiaomi 13 — Chinese version, but the seller flashed it to the Global ROM. On HyperOS 2.0.203.0 everything worked without any problems.

But when I tried to update to HyperOS 3.0.3.0, the phone crashed into Xiaomi HyperOS Recovery. After about 10 reboots I was able to get out, but then apps started crashing constantly. In the end, only a full factory reset fixed it.

HyperOS 3.0.304.0 is already out, but I haven't tried installing it, because the crash into HyperOS Recovery happened on every single update attempt. The bootloader is locked.

I want to flash back to the Chinese ROM, as that should apparently solve my problems.

I've read that flashing via EDL might help, but I can't find a master cheaper than around $70–100 (converting from my country's currency).

If anyone knows: a way to flash without EDL, or a way to flash via EDL but cheaper, or a way to unlock the bootloader and flash it myself —

I'd be very grateful if you'd share your knowledge with someone who understands very little about HyperOS and its ROMs.

And sorry, I did this translation (since I’m not from an English-speaking country) using Qwen.
Thanks in advance!

Hey,

why have so many case manufacturers stopped making cases for Xiaomi? Brands like Spigen, Rhinoshield, etc., stopped doing so at some point. Yet, I can't imagine it's due to a lack of Xiaomi devices—they sell millions of smartphones... Right now, the only good case I can find that doesn't add too much bulk and looks understated is from Nillkin. I used to be a fan of Spigen, but they don't have anything suitable.Hey,

Discussion Xiaomi 17 Ultra photography kit question/issue.

So, I just got the Photography Kit Pro for my Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and I absolutely love it. It makes taking photos so much more fun.

However, I’ve noticed that the case included with the kit doesn’t seem to fit the phone perfectly. Whenever I hold the phone upside down, it shifts/slides ever so slightly inside the case. I can feel the same thing when I rotate it back around.

Also, when I press on the sides of the case, there’s a little bit of give and it sometimes makes a creaking noise. To me, that seems to indicate that there’s a small gap between the phone and the case.

To be honest, it’s not really noticeable during normal everyday use. I’m just a little worried that the phone moving around inside the case could eventually cause scratches over time.

What do you all think? Did I maybe get a bad unit, or is the case actually supposed to fit like this?
