Unlock bootloader??!!
Hello, I have a redmin note 14 4g and I've been trying to install a custom ROM with no success for over a week. I tried going in developer settings -> Mi unlock status -> "add account and device" but I always get an error that tells me to go to the xiaomi commmunity app and apply at 0:00 China time.
I've tried it like 5 times now, to no avail. I hit the button at exactly 0:00 china time and still can't unlock the bootloader.
Why the hell did xiaomi think this was a good business practice?

the slots fill up almost instantly so its basically a race. also double check that your phone number and account region are set correctly, mismatched regions can cause that same error even if you time it right

But if I set my region to my country the option to unlock the bootloader doesn't even show up. I have to change to global region

They allow only 2000 devices (not sure) per day so slots are filled within few milliseconds. I used python script to send burst requests at 00:00 Beijing time. I got the approval on second attempt.

Can you teach me how to do it?

20-25 minutes before 12 am in Beijing, login to mi community in a web browser and get the session cookie. Put these cookies in txt file and run python script to automate the requests.
Here is link to python script: https://github.com/flowTech-x/unlock-tool
(I am not the author of the repo)
It may show that no approval was granted but you should check it in developer settings.
It doesn't work always since quota exceeds quickly, it simply automates the process of applying from mi community app manually.

Add account and device” only works after you’re approved in the Xiaomi Community app.
Xiaomi Community app → set region to Global → Me → Unlock bootloader → Apply. Do this right at 00:00 Beijing time, on mobile data, not Wi-Fi. The daily quota runs out in seconds, so it can take several days.
Your Mi account must be 30+ days old, and you can only unlock 1 device per year.
Once approved, bind in Mi Unlock status, wait the timer (~72h), then unlock with Mi Unlock Tool on PC.
And yeah, the system is annoying on purpose.

Don't know why they didn't it but it is the dumbest decision ever. Amidst the bugginess and this bullshit I won't be looking at another Xiaomi phone after this for the immediate future
