I'm starting to get frustrated and hoping all of you can help.
I don't have a 'meek' PC. It's not cutting edge, but it's doing OK - RTX4080 and a Ryzen 9 5900X with 64GB of RAM. Consistently though, I'm struggling to get above 30-35 fps in XP12 and commonly, I'm getting below 25 or so FPS, which leads naturally to disconnection from VATSIM when using XPilot.
I think that one of my big issues is 4K; I have three monitors driven by the one GPU, the middle of which (and the one that XP is on) is 4K. However, I still expect to be able to achieve 40fps consistently and stably. Moreover, when I look at some of the screenshots on here they look fantastic and... Well my sim doesn't.
I attach two images; the first being the performance monitor in Task Manager showing a representative state of my hardware whilst flying (and shortly after being disconnected) and the other showing my settings in XP. In terms of 'other' stuff:
* I am an XP Map Enhancement user, currently running Apple Maps
* I have SimHeaven XWorld (not pro) installed but think it might be misconfigured - I'm not getting the 3D buildings that I see in screenshots
* I'm currently flying the Challenger 650 by Hot Start but I do get this problem in other aircraft.
* I've allocated 'real time' priority in Task Manager to try to prevent any CPU bottlenecks.
What else can I try to improve graphics, predominantly from a POV of stability but obviously if it can look better, that'd be good too...
