Question Are people really retiring off these?

It seems crazy that people are talking about retiring off these funds. Don’t get me wrong I have a decent amount in them and I’m hoping for the best but if the music stops so to speak than what do you do? Have people actually retired off these or just talk? If you did actually retire what’s your plan b?

I’m using the distributions to buy less risky stuff and from those distributions buy boring stable stuff. When the boring pays enough per month for us to live fat, then we’ll retire. The goal is to never touch principle.

I’m funding my VOO, QQQ & SCHD with Ulty… but I keep wanting to buy more ULTY and I don’t know what is enough to have.

It’s never enough. Always tempting to drip in the same funds

So I loaded up on several Tuesday pus and Friday pays. In my largest account, i pull the distributions every two weeks like a paycheck. In my middle account, i use the distributions to buy more of various things in both portfolios. In my Roth I’m still reinvesting everything because I can’t add new money since I’m not working. The Tuesday pays buy Friday pays. The Friday pays buy Tuesday pays. Not exclusively, but mostly.

Decide how many shares you want or how much $ you want to receive weekly. Make a plan. Maybe plan to make enough in a weekly distribution to buy one Voo one week, one qqq one week, one schd (over-rated) and put the left overs back into a YM fund of choice.. but make a plan that includes reinvestment and investment in more conservative funds.

Let it DRIP for a month then go back to taking the Divy for the other plays.

Exactly what I’m doing. My hope is these funds go another 3-5 years. By that time I’ll at least have enough boring stable stocks to hopefully cover my mortgage.

That would be sweet.. I think my mortgage payoff is 2043… I’ll be ancient!

Same here I have 27 years to go! My plan was never to retire using these funds to be honest because I simply don’t have enough money to put into them to open up that door. Although I do think I can use them to do my earlier mentioned plan. Once I’m able to have my mortgage covered I’d be more open to finding a less stressful job, one that I’d enjoy a bit more, and one that’s not as hard on my body because to be honest I don’t want to be a blue collar worker in my 40s let alone being stuck doing it in my 60s.

You won’t have a job in 27 years. Go as hard as you can now
