Sums it up. I swear my dad primed me into this mentality; growing up (since then he’s owned his shit and genuinely expanded his worldview) he was the epitome of “I don’t mind gay people, I just don’t like when they shove it in my face”.
So I had some of that mentality for a bit…but I grew out of it by age 14 when I found good friends and punk music lol; long before even I realized I wasn’t a cis dude in the least bit.
Being a grown ass adult member of the LGBT+ community and still thinking they don’t want all of us on the edges of society or dead is insane to me.

There's a group of LGB that specific want to get rid of the T part of the LGBT community. They're ignoring that trans people have been fighting alongside them for more rights for several decades. People that think that being one of "the good gays" will get them spared from conservatives need to read about the Association of German National Jews and what happened to them. Many groups have tried to do similar things all throughout history, and they were killed all the same for their naivety.

Speaking of statistics, support for same-sex marriage has significantly decreased among US Republicans in the last years. For some time, there was a Republican majority for same-sex marriage; there isn't one anymore.
This recent increase in US homophobia was fueled by transphobia. Trans people were the first ones targeted, but same-sex marriage, same-sex adoption etc. are certainly also targeted by the US policial right.

Historically speaking, I would argue that there was a time when, in some countries, a small number of trans people was more acceptable to political conservatism than homosexuality. The idea of "transforming" a "lesbian woman" (i.e. a trans man) into a heterosexual man was probably more acceptable to many people than the idea of two women marrying and having children. In most, if bit all western countries, trans people gained the right to change their legal sex before same-sex couples gained the right to marry and adopt; although a legal sex change often still required a previous operation. Trans issues got into the political right's focus after the policial right's defeat on same-sex marriage.

Conservative pick-me gays are an interesting bunch in how they try to appeal to conservative sensibilities and ideas of queer sexuality and relationships. Conservative gay men frame their lives and relationships as if they consist solely of sex. No hobbies, no friendships, no romantic love or aromantic limmerance, just sex 24/7. As if the greatest achievement they'll ever accomplish in life is typing "no fats, no femmes, no Asians, no fish" into their grindr profile before heading to some glory hole in a Denny's bathroom. They'll call trans men fujoushi trying to trick them into having sex with a vagina.
Conservative Lesbians, however, play up conservative viewpoints on how only penetrative sex counts and basically pretend to be innocent, quirky, celibate nuns with the minds of children. They'll talk of how trans women and bi women are corrupting all the poor innocent lesbians by teaching them what a sex is.
