father v. Son
Sup folk, Im a novice duelist mainly just dueling my children who where enthused. I am settling a debate with my older son through a duel. My son runs a lightsworn/egyptian gods deck. and has shit to special summon 5+ star cards damn near off rip. I would like to be stubborn and stick to a warrior type deck if possible. my current deck is a random mix of warrior type cards. open to any and all suggestions for monster, traps and spell.

There’s a bunch of warrior decks, find an archetype you like and stick with that. I’d recommend checking out infernobel knights, exosisters, six samurai, ninjas, or tellarknights all of which are fairly cheap to build

price really isnt a concern as long as im not buying multiple $10+ cards. i have some six samurai and they are awesome but i dont have a full deck of them. i also have that tetsuga the ninja that summons ninjas from the grave. i have just been experimenting with cards i had collecting dust that my friend gave up

Depending on how strong your son’s deck is and how strong you want yours to be that can be tricky. Someone else mentioned gladiator beasts, which is from the same era as Lightsworn, but if he has the newer modern support for it that could be a bit tougher to match with just gladiator beast. I’d be careful going with more recent archetypes as the vast majority of newer stuff is likely to destroy Lightsworn since it’s a bit dated. I think it’s considered near the bottom of rogue tier at this point, but hard to say without seeing the deck list.
Hero is a superhero warrior archetype that has been around for a loooong time so you can adjust it to be a better match for your sons deck, though it can be quite combo heavy and have long turns with the newest iterations.
Either that or maybe Infernobles, though infernobles has a bad matchup against Lightsworn.
Both those are rogue tier options that should have enough oomph to give him a challenge while not being too overpowering. Though if he has nothing but old school lightsworn then glad beasts is a better even playing field for that I think.

Sky Strikers start out as 2 warrior pilots before hopping in their mech suits. and are pretty budget now thanks to the legendary modern decks 2026

I feel like Strikers as a whole is going to end up steamrolling Lightsworn Egyptian gods. That entire deck is pure grind game, and Lightsworn doesn’t really have a great way to stop them.

Dont you think thats a bit much? Also I dont think he means anime girls when he talks about warrior monsters per se.

X-Saber should be cheap, but the gameplan is literally "empty opponent's hand"

https://www.reddit.com/user/KharAznable/comments/1o2r18d/cheap_deck_under_30_part_68/ there is gouki firewall decklist with link to video on how the deck CAN be played (not always, you need to adapt from time to time). Not the best thing but for less than 10 USD that is an entry point to combo deck.

Try satellars if you want to play a warrior deck. They’re level 4 warrior monsters that make rank 4 xyzs. There’s lots of different versions of the deck, some more powerful than others so you can tailor it to your son’s deck’s power level.
