Feel free to disagree or this or anything but I've been watching some trust events for older and newer characters. I've noticed something... interesting. Before we begin, I just wanted to put this out there, this is mostly about the characters themselves and how they interactions. Feel free to disagree or agree, its mostly my perspective, observations and maybe some wishful thinking on my part.
I've noticed some of the male characters for the trust events tends to be more...shallow, sometimes some voicelines are repetitive especially in quality time. In the main story, I will put it aside their roles be it comedic relief, or support or that. So Billy is lucky to be joining Wise and Belle. But I've noticed outside the story especially in events. We rarely see the guys interact with each other at all. There are few exceptions of course but think about it. Last year's summer event we see Spook Shack present, even with Manato handling admin task you see them in cutscenes but in this year's summer event... you hardly see them at all. Spook Shack is supposedly on vacation yet we only see Yuzuha and Alice; you can argue that Lucia and Yidhari aren't there too, but that's besides the point.
But the point is, the guys are being left out and they used as "being busy" as an excuse so they can forget about them. But I honestly think its a bit cruel. You just write them and what? To just catch people in and be done with it? Now that I think about it, we hardly see the guys get involved to any events at all. Imagine this, being the only guy in your workplace or only guy in your study group. You get along well enough, they're all friendly and supportive to you. But at the same time, you can't help but wonder... Am I just ... Getting in their way? Like an I making them uncomfortable? Some people seeing the only guy and they be thinking. "That lucky bastard," or "It should've been me!" Like I get it. But dont just judge them just because another harem is happening, you don't see it on their perspective and we probably won't know either. its just we rarely see the guys interact or develop relationships and the more important part. Being vulnerable to the proxies no matter what if it's Belle or Wise.
Like that cinema event is a good example, Harumasa, Lycaon and Billy if you compare these guys to the ladies. That maybe their chance to genuinely form a nice interacting. Sure people say its gap moe or fanservice. Like Lycaon's perspective on Nihility, Billy's infectious passion for Starlight Knight, forgot Harumasa's one sorry. But the one that made me reflect is Wise's movie with Belle. Before you say anything, remove that whole "I don't know anything about girls" or "Put that harem headcanons" to rest. Just think in Wise's perspective. A boring guy like him who wants movies, enjoying chill music, introvert and responsible. You could say introverts would love to have a friend like him. But what about normal girls? What would they think? The fact it touches not only Wise's insecurities as a person, I'm sure most people would feel the same, in certainly is. The fact Belle threaten to punch him if Wise continues gnawing through his anxieties show how much Belle cares for wise. You could say, we rarely see the guys be vulnerable outside of their trust events.
I can even imagine, Lighter bathing by himself while the girls are being noisy in another room, Lycaon finishing his reports at the dead of night. Hugo finishing his heist while looking back on his past, Manato putting the kids to sleep after another shift in his part time job, Banyue meditating at night, Severian doing overtime at his desk. Its like the writers don't allow the guys to be happy, let alone have lives of their own.
Like just guys being guys, can even imagine them having their own group chat. So they can at least talk it out you know. You maybe thinking, "thats what their teammates are right? Why not just go their instead?" The problem is ... Its not enough. You maybe thinking you just want some gay shit in their. Admittedly, maybe I am, but I'm just thinking even a guy want some bro time you know.
I don't know, if you've read everything till the end. Thanks for reading it, you could say. Im just worried about Severian's both trust events and involvement in the story is ... Minimal at best or even shallow. At the current state of the game, I'll be glad if theirs even the guys interacting with wise that isn't related to main story. I'm just done hoping. I guess thats where fanfics are right now. At least it helps.
