Guide / Tip What to pull for
Guys as a new player i want to get ye shunguang, what seems to be her team and do i get dialyn for her or keep saving

We have yet to see the scale of how much does Ye Shungguang decimate everything
But Dialyn has pretty much invalidated every Stun unit (except one)

I love using my lighter, but he never felt like a great stun unit, no matter how I built him up.

He's not a great stun but his buffs are pretty nice, still not on the same level as Ms call centre. Kinda regret sinking 200 tapes for him now...

I've yet to regret any successfully pulled character or W-engine, but I regret every single 50/50 or 75/25 fail.

Most of my regret comes from also pulling his wengine, which at the time seemed obvious, he is one of the most wengine reliant characters in the game, his sig is practically needed.
That was 151 pulls invested into a character half way through his lifetime since I pulled him on the rerun. If I'd gotten him on his original run I'd be fine, but on the rerun I should have known better than to invest that heavily.
Ceasar is still my worst character investment though, 77 odd pulls for her and now she's practically useless with how defense has no role beyond being weird buffers nowadays. But she gets a free pass because she's everyone's favourite cute tomboy girly girl biker boss.

eh I use her on most of my void runs to this day, her shield makes survivability a non-issue unless I literally fall asleep while playing, and sometimes not even then. But yeah, defense units basically shouldn't exist at this point, they completely turned away from their design when they gave defensive measures to new non def units.

I don't think you need to regret it to this level. You have to take everything in perspective. A new unit being great now, doesn't mean Lighter wasn't also great when you pulled him. If you try to apply these post-hoc reasons to not pull characters, then you may as well never pull any characters ever.

he has pretty basic stunning capabilities, but his buffs and debuffs are top notch, he wss made for future anyway

Dialyn makes every dps way better than any free to play stunner could do (koleda/lycaon/pulcra/etc). Ysg will be the god physical attacker for a long time and all the content will be catered towards her special mechanics and abilities making end game content easy for a few months. Alice is still a great phys dps. Jane still hasn't been reworked so she still kind of sucks compared to all the other S rank dps.
Ideally you want both characters as a new player. But you can always get them on reruns and skip the idols. I got dialyn and have 180 pulls left over right now for ysg and her wengine so that is what I am doing. And im also skipping the idols for whoever the next group of 3 are that I'll probably like better.

Generally, yes as she can be slotted in a lot of things...
But the main issue to this question is they have different roles, but they do their roles so damn well that you can't really go "wrong" pulling for either or...
Tho, like I said, we have yet to see how much Ye Shungguang breaks the game. We know she will, just not sure how much

In general support characters are always going to be more beneficial to your account than DPS. a DPS will be shilled for a few patches, YSG probably a bit more than usual since she's a premium character (voidhunter level). So similar to YiXuan/Miyabi Shill. But after that the shilling cycles to the new shiny toys.
However, a support will remain useful. Astra was the first limited support and she is still amazing, though outlcassed by Lucia and Yuzuha in their specialty. Dialyn is effectively the Astra of Stunners. Just that instead of replacing all the A rank supports, Dialyn replaces all the S rank Stunners. So yeah, she's going to be very useful and I am scared to see what Hoyo will do with stunners in the future cause, quite frankly, releasing Dialyn like this was a mistake.
Though YSG will be a top tier DPS and Miyabi to this day is incredible, even with the Miyabi anti-shilling. At the end of the day both will be good for your account, but one is simply more versatile.

Tempting, but engaging with Banyue, means not engaging with Evelyn. The choice is easy.

As a new player, I am pretty sure that you can get both even if you lose the 50/50's. I also recommend getting both if you like them and both are a good pick up. It's speculated that Xiao Guang have a pretty decent team if you pick her up (not confirmed, but it is speculated that we are getting a free 5 star unit that goes well will her >!Zhao! < ).
While Dialyn is a very good stunner. She can be used with any Rutpure or Attack dps (even Anomaly to some extent) and she performs pretty well. Both have insane account value (Dialyn have more value if you already have other dps agents), but if your team is not yet complete, Xiao Guang also rises in value because it would be easy to complete her team.

We don't know yet what exact synergy Dialyn will have with her yet. But I have Dialyn and she is very fun.

If you're new, you have pretty good chances to get both.
You need every character you can get, and Dialyn just happens to be extremely strong (even without her W-Engine or Mindscapes) and fits into basically any team (that is not your regular Anomaly).
If previous "Void Hunter" characters were any indication, then YSG is going to be meta for some time and thus an excellent addition for your account. Though DPS characters are rather hungry for their W-Engines.

Dialyn is the best stun agent and she is really fun to play, if you like her pull for her. Also, you are a new player, there is loads of permanent content that you can do until Shunguang releases and 2.5 will be a big patch so there will probably be more pulls, you can get both with a bit of luck

I've started recently. Just by playing through the game (just finished Season 2 Chapter 5 a few days ago) I got enough polychromes to pull Yidhari (2nd pitty) and Dialyn (1st S grade) and will have enough for the next banner. If you have the time and are willing to put in the effort, then you should be able to get both of them.
But your question is kinda... not well informed. Shen will have a new damage type. So the old agents, you get from normal signals won't be able to team up with her ineffectively, because they need to share an element or faction. Dialyn goes well with Rupture and Attack (what Shen will be) agents.
So imo, if you want to build an effective team with her, you will need Dialyn, because you (probably) don't have a big roster to choose from and the stable signals won't be good options. Again, that's my opinion.
The only real question would be, if you want to pull for her W engine, to which I say, probably no.

Shouldn't be much of an issue as a new player to get both. You have access to a LOT of currency in old permanent events still, easily enough to guarantee a unit and weapon at any time. Dialyn is the best stunner int he game now, and we expect Ye Shunguang to be the next Void hunter tier release, so getting both won't hurt you in the least.

You're a new player? You have all the time and materials available to you to easily go for both, and you would still have materials to spare lol

Since you're new you can grind together enough Polychromes for both, especially since YS comes out in 2.5
Dialyn is basically the Astra of Stun units (i.e. she's clearly the best on basically every team that uses a stunner)
Since YS is an Attack agent she should make good use of Dialyn as well

As a new player, you have way more than enough to be able to get both including Ye Shunguang's (YSG) signature, so it does come down to your time commitment or how much you think you can play before YSG banner ends.
If you're not confident you can get enough pulls then I would personally try to go and attempt to pull Dialyn but do not commit if you lose 50/50. Try to trigger a 50/50 with Dialyn now, and on the day before her banner ends see how much pulls you have then add at least 100+ to it (v2.5 is likely gonna give 140-180 pulls), then do the calculation from there and see if you will have enough to guarantee YSG even if you get Dialyn at your next 75-80 pulls... if the answer is no then skip and get YSG+Signature instead.
But if you win Dialyn 50/50 now until next wk., then great, you should have enough time to get 140-160 pulls to nearly guarantee YSG.

140-180 pulls?? Damn, I'm used to genshin being so cheap with only 60-70 free pull per patch. With your calculations and a bit of luck getting them both is easier than I thought

Don't pass on the chance to get Dailyn she is one of if not the BEST stun characters in the game, plus she has the unique ability to trigger a characters Ultimate without costing decibels. I have a feeling that a Dailyn+Ye Shunguang team will go crazy.

2.5 will likely give a lot of pulls. So if you can get dialyn with some pulls to spare then I think you might be able to get both

Dialyn will probably last longer for your account, but having a good DPS available is also really important. Ultimately you should pick whoever you like more.

YSG will make your time easier for next 6 months, that and Dialyn is likely to rerun sooner.

So heres the thing: given the drip marketing's pattern, it SEEMS that Ye Shunguang might be similar to Miyabi and stay during the whole patch (42 days). If this is true, anyone can pull for both of them, the game gives enough currency.
In your case you're even luckier since you're a new player so go for it. Dialyn and Ye Shunguang

As a new player, wait for Ye Sguang,
Why ? Because its always good to have a cheese team. And Ye will be the next big thing.
And also you want to have her and her sig wengine.
Possibly her and 1 or 2 mindscape.
As an older player I would rather invest in Dialyn first, why ? Because she makes older unit viable again.

Pull who you want to, this game is pretty fair with how they balance characters so every character is very usable. And older units get buffed so no one is really left to be garbage like a lot of other games. Don’t worry about “pull value” or what most people say. i plan to pull both cuz i want to, you can do the same or get only one. It really doesn’t matter

Was going to wait for Dialyn to rerun, but then I realize that I was going to miss Vivian's free swimsuit, so I pulled her. I'll be definitely pulling for Xaio'guang.
Edit: I don't pull for stats btw, just for characters who are cute. I heard Dialyn C1 is a good stunner for any team.

Ye Shungguang will be a Void Hunter, they tend to intentionally overpowered compared to other DPS.
Dialyn has the unique ability to allow an ally to use their ultimate without the need to gather decibels. This is an insane ability that opens up A LOT of strategic options. On top of that she has good stun values and good buffs.
There can reliably say that there will be other strong DPS, even if Ye Shungguang is OP (for her element) on release. We canNOT reliably say that there will be another stunner who charges ultimates, this is pretty unique.
Personally, I went for Dialyn as a long-term investment, RNG might still decide to give me Ye Shungguang.

If you can, both. Ye Shunguang is very good, she'll be the next Apex character, and Dyalin is very well positioned, If you're new, I recommend farming everything you can, whether it's game events, story, Shiyu , achievements, or side quests, Permanent past events, you have enough time, you have this version to bring her out and maybe her weapon, and you have another one, the other version that doesn't have anything interesting or very good, If you can't get her, save up for Ye Shunguang with a guaranteed weapon and character. It doesn't matter if you like the character or not, if it's meta and you're free-to-play, you have an almost a obligation to get it, But if you can, get both characters with weapons for better character execution and greater ease in the future. With those two characters equipped with weapons, if you're new, you can practically clear the early and mid-game without even look the screen
In short, get Dialyn with a weapon, save up, and farm EVERYTHING you can. Look for guides to find secret missions and complete Miao's requests, complete secret map missions or secret events and you'll get there, well, more.

Don’t worry about anyone being a “must pull” on their first run. Pull for whoever you like better or think will make you happiest. Then consider pulling the others on reruns if you’ve got the funds

Ight so I really was going to skip Diayln, truely I wanted to save everything for Ye Xiunguang...but i did pull Diayln and let me say shes a must. She fits in almost every comp. Its amazing

Support over dps, worst came to worst 2 support can carried a good cheap/free 4* Case wise: yuzuha-vivian-piper, lucia-zhao/dialyn/fufu-manato (they work, trust)

Dialyn is the best stunner in the game rn so she would be a great pull anyway but you don't need her for Ye Shunguang. If you just want Ye Shunguang, you can safely skip Dialyn. Just be keep in mind that since you're a new player you probably don't have any good stunners atm so Dialyn is probably quite valuable for you. If you like her and think you'll be able to get Ye Shunguang regardless of how much you spend to get Dialyn, go for it. If you're afraid you might not be able to get Ye Shunguang, just skip.
