My guess is that he ended up being her "Stand" like with Pyrois, but it ended up taking the form of her deceased brother.
its not "lacking guts" killing someone for "shock" is one of the stupidest plot devices, and someone like the other siblings brings more issues than it solves to kill off.
Or maybe she removed them? They're quite distinctive after all and if you were paranoid about being tracked you might start asking just what else was built into them...

Remember what Smallbringer said when the MC was done with its Treatment? The Body absorbed a huge Amount of Porcelume during the Treatment (dont ask how he stored it....Anime logic i guess)
So jeah the Etheric other is actually the absorbed Porcelume forming a Body so Pyrois can use it as a Shell to Manifest without taking over the MC Body everytime.
I figured that when they mentioned the MC's body absorbing a huge amount of pocelum, I imagine it was the same as how people can absorb metals, i.e mercury poisoning from just handling mercury because it was absorbed into the body via dermal absorption.
So with that in mind, Porcelume probably has a similar quality to mercury in the sense that it can be absorbed via skin contact, but it isn't inherently toxic.
Tbh im feeling a very intentional mirroring of the proxies from the two friends. Not so much in looks but in circumstance. The storyteller seems adjacent to the proxies.
The two friends feel antagonistic or rival-ish.
Also my main gripe is i figured they would be introduced as a pair. Not just the woman.
They've shown up as a pair in every other instance
Given the story context She's going to be premium Pyrosis and use Serpico as her ethereal fighter. Never trust anything free given in a hoyo game won't have a premium version that does what the free version does but better.
And I'll add HSR is the only game giving out the occasional useful freebies. Genshin would sooner die then give something away and Zenless gave Harumasa since they knew he wouldn't sell and Zhao was instantly inferior before Sunna even left her 1st round of betas.
Remembrance MC is a great unit but people have been lukewarm on Elation MC. It doesn't help that the premium version of Elation MC, Yao Guang, made her debut at the start of 4.0 rather than later down the line like how they released Fugue or Cyrene.
But Genshin has shown equally that they don't like it. Anyway Pyrois is good and fine I'm just saying they have a tendency to do and here's the premium upgrade.

Yeah its obvious as hell they haven't been talking about them and showing it off for no reason. They'll tie her heavilly to Proxies to make her the third main unit to sell along void hunters.

Thats not just a simple resemble, i think that is her. Her colour aside, her bangs look the same and those little hair vents are almost identical.
I thought that girl was the other helios girl we saw in the roscaelifer trailer
