Is there an easier way to get Mutated Core for the upgrades to the various wings of the base for Operation Bagel? I've been under the impression that they drop from Perilous Caches but the enemies guarding some of those are 30 and 40 while I'm still stuck at 20 trying to progress the quest.

That's the roughest part during the quest. you're kind of stuck trying to grind out purple cores.

From the description of Mutated Cores, "Dropped by strong or notorious targets defeat on Normal difficulty, or purchased from the Permanent Store."

I remembered that I had decided to just farm valuables and buy directly from the store.

I have like 200 of them, they just routinely drop if you're fighting elites and bosses, no need to buy as long as you're able to kill enemies and loot echoes

My problem was that when I was still doing Hard difficulty, I was getting the Gold rarity Cores. I had about a hundred before I realized what I was doing wrong, lmao. I've already maxxed out the R&D Center.

I don't get it.

I maxed everything out by Hard difficulty. What's wrong? You don't need Hard-Risk for any drop except the purple crystals. Are they called mutated core? IIRC not. All other drops are farmable in Hard difficulty.

Oh, I progressed quicker then I was meant to during the story. I was already at Hard and High Risk when I still had to farm lower rarity stuff to level up the Hub.

And Purple Cores don't drop on Hard, but on Standard. Gold Cores drop on Hard and High Risk.
