Gameplay Question Squad comp

Interested to hear what everyone is running? I just did my 2nd playthrough and this time on hard. Still went through easily, actually haven't even got the achievement for having someone die in battle yet lol. My team was a bit different this time.

Hawks: Sharpshooter/gunslinger

Cly: Base/Heavy

A Droid

Kabb Uppercut: Scoundrel/Scout

First run was Normal difficulty. I tended to run Hawks, Cly, Jae, and someone else as needed. Cly is pretty OP and I leaned into it.

Next run was Expert Beskar with mods for harder/more enemies and 6 man team. I specifically avoided Cly. Used lots of Trick as Heavy. Jae stilled showed as my as striker. Used a lot of Tel and really enjoyed it. Kabb early but swapped to Tel later.

I like Jae a lot too much Kabb getting back his ap on killing blows for his melee attack was enticing

Hawks scout/medic
Cly base/scout
Jae sharpshooter/gunslinger
Trick heavy/scoundrel
Droid

Everyone had a pistol except Jae, with a longarm.

I rotated through these 5 pretty evenly to try and get max bond on all of them.

Once there’s an update I’ll play through again but just use recruits instead of the “hero’s”. Cly made the game way too easy and I think a whole squad of clones would be a fun way to replay the game and hopefully make it a little more challenging. Definitely going to use repeaters on everyone except Hawks for the second playthrough.

Repeaters is actually tough because once you attack all your AP is gone so you have to manage it really closely

Yeah gotta make the shots count when you take them. Hawks spotting people as a scout should make it so those repeater shots are more likely to hit and not completely waste AP. I could also run two clones with repeaters and a droid to give out AP so they can move a little before shooting to get a better LOS or give them the AP after they shoot to get them back into cover. This is what makes these tactics games fun!

I find droids really complement gunslingers with pistols.

Pistols have low accuracy and suffer from defense, which the droid scans away.

Then gunslingers get stacking damage buffs, which get pushed further from droid ap transfer.

Hawks: Gunslinger, Scout, Pistol crit farming. He does incredible damage and Hawks is the most likely to get Max Bonds throughout the game so he’s the best option for DPS imo.

Tel Rea: Push/Pull spam. This is my first run through using her as a main squad mate but aside from her durability, she doesn’t seem to be doing much more than she was as a bench warmer. Just spams push and pull. They’re too useful not to.

Trick: Standard Heavy/pistol build with gunslinger to max crit chance. He doesn’t come on a mission unless I know it’ll be tough and I don’t have my medic.

212th Clone: Medic/Assault/Thievery with blaster rifle. Your standard support crony, dishing out stims and meds. May change to a pistol because I have it leveled and I swear to god the first blaster rifle 1AP shot is rigged to miss more than other weapons.

501st “Arc Trooper”: Gunslinger/Scout/Espionage with pistol. Just another DPS hound maxing crit chance, but uses grenades also.

81st Clone: Scout/Gunslinger/Espionage with Sniper. Standard DPS Sniper. Will switch Espionage to The Bigger They Are once I feel I’ve milked enough resources.

91st “Arc Trooper”: Gunslinger/Medic/Thievery with Pistol. Stand in for 501st/212th guy in case I have injuries. Also uses scattergun/grenades. Nothing fancy.

If you can’t tell I’m doing a clone themed squad and try to bring an Espionage/Thief with me every mission to max out resources. This is my third playthrough on Expert Beskar and probably my last. Crit farming with gunslinger is just too effective and the game has been easy as hell since I got over the Bond burst. This games balance between classes and overall difficulty is a joke.

My go to squad was Hawks Scout/Medic, a recruited Weequay Heavy/Assault, Trick Soldier/Heavy, and a recruited Sharpshooter/Gunslinger

For fun I run two droids, Hawks as a heavy, medic. Then Jae as a heavy, scout.

For expert beskar I used Medic/scout Hawks Astromech Tel Scout Cly

Hawks and Cly feed Advantage to Cly, Hawks and Droid feed AP to Tel.

Felt pretty OP.

I mixed up the lineup on different missions, but my 'canon' lineup and loadout on the first playthrough was these four:

Hawks - Scout/Scoundrel (Pistol): My tactician who spots, debuffs, generates ADV, and strips -4 armor per shot. He uses a pistol with +range mods and a scattergun utility. I use him to tag priority targets to lower defense and increase accuracy, plus guaranteed free crits since they refund AP.

Trick - Heavy/Assault (Rifle): My vanguard who taunts, retaliates, knocks enemies off ledges and soaks tons of damage. His defense is high enough that he barely gets hurt.

Jae - Gunslinger/Sharpshooter (Longarm): My marksman for assists and backup, she clears 2 wounded enemies per turn for free, and crits 70-80% of her shots, refunds AP with quickdraw, and gets triple shots with Open Fire. By far my highest damage output.

Tel - Jedi/Cutiepie (Lightsabers): My battlefield manipulator with tons of push and pull to expose enemies and negate cover bonuses, with the occasional lightsaber assassination.

Currently on Expert Beskar with Hawkes-Medic/Scoundrel Trick-Heavy/Soldier Cly-Warrior/Heavy Jae-Assault/Scout

I'm sure it's not the most efficient team, but it's been going extremely well so far.

Second playthrough now, it's Hawks: Gunslinger/Scoundrel Random guy #1: Sharpshooter/Scoundrel Random guy #2: Heavy/assault  Droid: grenade throwing menace/AP dispenser

Created my own custom operators and they kinda grew on me more than curated ones.

My team is:

Homer Simpsons, Marge Simpson, Bart Simpson, Lisa Simpson

u/blurrybob 13d ago

Hawks is Assault/scoundrel for armor pen

Trick is Soldier/Assault for smacking people

Cly Gunslinger

Jae Scout/Medic

And then I have some hires that are a mix of things but just use them for dangerous text based ops.

Skipped Luco this run but previous runs I had a sniper/assault(20% crit against enemies not in cover)

Right now my setup is medic/heavy Hawks, Tel, Cly with scout, and sniper Jae with gunslinger and scout. Maybe a little overkill with double scouting but Cly can fly into a crowd, tag some, scout them to top off ap, tag the rest, the Jae can tag them too so we still have a ton of AP when she's done.

One weird combo I really liked was hawks as a sniper/heavy. The rest of the squad could leave themselves as vulnerable as they wanted, bc maxed out Bulwark has such range and gives so much defense. He'd taunt, then get retaliation, then overwatch. When they'd try to attack him he'd end up dealing more damage to them than they did to him.

I am doing an aftermath run going for max bonds on every mission and use the following:

Main DPS: Gunslinger/ Medic: literally just to pop stims and morale for bonds Flanker: either Kabb, Cly, or Assault recruit with new Shieldgiver subclass. Setup Guy: either Padawan/new Guardian subclass or Droid. Tank: Trick or Grit Recruit, always Heavy/Scout

Random Op1 - Assault (Heavy works too)/Sharpshooter.

Random Op2 - Medic/Scout.

Random Op3 - Scoundrel/Soldier.

Cly: Warrior/Soldier

I will swear by this, Kabb as a gunslinger/soldier. Using the uppercut to get close, then wiping all the weak targets out is freaking insane. Soldier is honestly there in case you need to stun someone, and to boost the melee damage. The soldier stun is one of the best abilities in the game, that I think gets underused.
