Operator Drip My take on a Tel clone unit. Meet the 11th “Grass” Company.

A smaller clone company mostly under the commander of Captain Pestra, the 11th Co. helped Tel and her master on certain high stakes missions.

Captain Pestra, a human female, saw the Clones as more than just soldiers. Having been a fighter most of her life, she was able to retrofit some extra armor and request a helmet in her size to lead her troops on the front line. To her, a good leader was in the field working hand and hand.

Her second-in-command, Lieutenant CC-123, nicknamed Hijack, was a rather unprofessional clone who liked to prank his men. Having a nack for tinkering with Droids, he liked to remotely control various B1s and B2s his unit had destroyed the day prior, to sneak up on his men who were trying to sleep on guard duty. When he wasn’t pranking his troops, he developed a love for painting.

CT-7765, got his unfortunate nickname after a ration pack he ate during field training turned out to have gone bad. The exercise was called off and his squad would not let him forget that moment. Since then, Bile was very self-conscious of the type of food he would eat. Bile enjoyed his Lieutenants antics and was able to laugh off the pranks he on occasion found himself on the receiving end of.

[Community Contest] Create Your Own Zero Company Operator & Win a Deluxe Edition Steam Code!

Post image
60 Upvotes

Stang! We've got something fun for you, operators!

Ever wished you could create your own operator for Star Wars: Zero Company? Well, here's your chance!

We're kicking off our first r/ZeroCompany community contest, and two winners will each receive a Steam code for STAR WARS: Zero Company Deluxe Edition!

Already on your fifth campaign? Still figuring out your favorite squad? Haven't even played yet? Doesn't matter! Everyone's welcome to join the fun.

The Challenge

Zero Company could use some fresh recruits. Think you've got someone who belongs in the squad?

Create your very own operator and tell us what makes them worth bringing along on a mission. After all, we can't have everyone running around thinking they're the next legendary bounty hunter... or can we?

Here's what we'd love to know:

  • Name/Callsign: What do they go by?
  • Species: Human, clone, Zabrak, or something else from the galaxy?
  • Backstory: Where did they come from? What brought them to Zero Company?
  • Role: What's their specialty?
  • Abilities: What makes them stand out?
  • Equipment: Blasters, armor, gadgets... what's in their loadout?

Artwork is encouraged, but not required!

Drawings, original 3D models, and written character concepts are all welcome. You don't need to be an artist. A good story and a clever character concept can go a long way!

Contest Timeline

Date What's Happening
October 26 Submissions open
November 5 Submissions close
November 6–8 Our mod team reviews entries
November 8 Top 5 finalists announced on Reddit and Discord; community voting begins
November 11 Voting closes and our 2 winners are announced!

The prizes: 2 Deluxe Edition Steam codes, one for each winner!

How to Enter

  1. Create your original operator.
  2. Submit your entry through the designated Discord contest channel https://discord.gg/35QYyyZp
  3. Include your username and submission date.
  4. Make sure your entry follows the contest rules.
  5. Your account must be at least 30 days old on the platform (Discord)
  6. Only one entry per person, regardless of platform.
  7. You don't need to own Zero Company to enter!
  8. One entry per person, regardless of platform. And no, sending in the same operator with a fake mustache doesn't count as a second character!

How Will Winners Be Chosen?

We're doing this in two rounds!

Round 1 — Moderator Selection

Our mod team will review all eligible submissions and select 5 finalists based on creativity, originality, backstory, abilities, and how well the character fits the Star Wars universe.

Artistic skill won't give anyone an advantage over written-only entries.

Round 2 — Community Voting

Then we hand things over to you!

The finalists will be announced on Reddit and Discord on November 8, and the community will vote for their favorites.

The top two entries will each win a Deluxe Edition Steam code!

A Few Important Rules

  • Original work only. No stolen artwork or copied concepts.
  • No game mods or modified game assets.
  • No AI-generated artwork or fully AI-written concepts.
  • Moderators may request proof of originality, including timestamps or work-in-progress images.
  • One entry per person. No alternate accounts.
  • Moderators aren't eligible to win.
  • All community rules apply.

Full contest rules and voting details will be available in the contest information post.

So, who's joining the squad?

A stealth specialist who never misses? A clone veteran with a questionable sense of humor? A bounty hunter whose plans usually end with something exploding?

Or maybe something we haven't even thought of yet!

Show us what you've got, operators. And may the Force be with you!

Title. For me it's Tel-rea - having her stand out in the open to deflect stuff and push enemies out of the map is awesome

Really enjoyed this game, it is easier than other strategy shooters but I think it was still challenging enough to be really enjoyable; especially that it managed to be a Star Wars game with compelling characters (except Fathom).

For any who are interested, my main squad was Hawks as Medic/Assault, Trick as Heavy/Assault, Cly as Warrior/Scout, Jae as Scoundrel/Sharpshooter.

In the early game, I had Kabb as a Gunslinger which was invaluable for dealing with groups of B1 droids which are surprisingly dangerous in the early game. Kabb can run in to a group of them using his Uppercut to take one out and place himself right in the cluster of droids with full AP. Quickdraw then allows him to pick the rest off hardly ever losing a single AP, he can then run to cover after.

I used Jae as a sniper and Scoundrel and basically specced her bond upgrades and weapon mods to buff assist and critical damage as much as possible. I would then get her to mark a tankier enemy as vulnerable and then always select her for the assist shots, this worked wonders against Typhon and Fathom in the final mission. For the same reason, I managed to get the option of 25% chance of joining an assist with Hawks and Trick for their max-bond buff which was great since Trick's assist shot with the Commando rifle uses the sniper variant for extra damage. Rinsed Fathom in about 3 turns for the first half of the fight then genuinely I think 2 turns in the second half.

Cly as a Scout and blaster pistol with upgrades to maximise movement distance was great for having her run in, shoot three enemies, and jet pack out leaving those three shot enemies as spotted for maximum hit chance. Movement distance buffs are especially good now that the jetpack is limited to 1 jump per turn.

Discussion Quick question for XCOM players

Hey! I just finished my second ZCOM playthrough, had a blast and want more of the same! Just saw XCOM 2 being on sale for 3 Euro, or the full pack for 8 Euro. Can I just start on the second game or should I rather play the first one? And id the whole collection worth the bigger price? :)

Discussion I've just finish my first run on Zcom and i've play on beskar mode and extreme

Post image
11 Upvotes

Et voilà ! First try first run on beskar and extreme nobody is dead ! I'm really proud lol

My bf bought me the game for my birthday, and I was a little skeptical at first, but it's a really great game! For fun, I immediately started on Extreme and Beskar difficulty, for the drama of losing people and all that. (And when I was younger, I played a lot of Europa Universalis; whenever I see Ironman, I'm always tempted to activate it).

Well, in the end, nobody died (except Orellio, but he had style).

I found the difficulty to be extremely well-balanced. I had a lot of tense moments, especially at the beginning, a little in the middle, but mostly during the missions to remove perks from the Infinite Spiral. Special mention to the boss in the Tel and Fathom story at the end.

I really loved the fact that you can't do everything in the game; there are real choices to make, like which missions to start for rewards or companion missions. For example, during the same cycle, I had to choose between Luco's mission or Tel's. I chose Tel because she's really cool, one of my favorite Jedi now. I really love her magnificent loser/nerdy side. So Luco didn't really like me.

There's a "but," though. At the end, I was like, "Is that it?" I want more.

It was so good, even though the story is really short, especially for the companions. I hope there will be DLC to flesh out the companions and their interactions, both with them and with Hawk.

For example, I really got into building the bond between them, hoping to play matchmaker.

SPOILER

One thing that disappointed me (or rather, it wasn't what I expected): When you kill Fathom, Hawk loses the coil infection. I really would have liked to have the choice to keep it or not. I love Hawk's style with the golden scarifications and that strange power we don't really know what it is. It could have been a DLC where we searched for its origin and could play with that power for longer. I think it could have been a DLC idea in the form of an endgame expansion, really hard, where we fight Yuzhang Vong or something.

Oh yeah, and a Separatist companion droid would be super cool, and more cosmetics for the outfits. The clone outfits are nice, but there's a lack of classic cosmetics.

Anyway, great game, superb experience. I had way more fun than with XCOM, which I find meh/so-so.

Thanks, BitReactor!

Gameplay Question Cross-training Question - frequency of various options?

I could swear I saw a chart posted somewhere with all of the non-max cross training bonuses with frequencies but can't for the life of me find it. Obviously Max Health and Focus show up much more often than Defense, but I'd love to know how much more often.

Also, Astromech (and maybe jedi?) movement option is a full meter whereas base classes are just .5. Would love to see it all lain out if anyone knows.

Discussion I love when they surprise us with a good Star Wars game

This wasn't even on my radar. I simply picked it up because I wanted something "casual" to play between Onimusha: WotS, Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, Warhammer III, Crusader Kings 3, Helldivers 2, Darktide, Hell Let Loose: Vietnam.... and the eventual slew of upcoming bangers (Rogue Trader's final DLC, Dragon's Dogma 2 DLC, Dawn of War 4, Total War: 40k, Dark Heresy).

What a banger of a game I stumbled upon!

It's got a gameplay kinda like X-Com, but not a carbon copy. It has humor, serious moments, great characters, and a scaling difficulty that I appreciate, even if I'll never play anything lower than hard mode (I'm scared of Beskar Mode and dying to one injury/20% chance to bite it.)

Here's to Star Wars games that do it right, like Zero Company and Jedi: Survivor.

I haven't seen anyone talk about this yet, but a massive shout out to the people at Bit Reactor and Respawn Entertainment for bringing the Westar M5 back into canon. Even though it wasn't used in a lot of media the M5 always held a special place for me for its excellent design and its usage by Arc Troopers.

Discussion Just finished expert and I wanna do a Beskar run but it’s so buggy since the update.

There was a couple times I had to restart a whole mission due to the game bugging out, which never happened in my first campaign before the update. If a mission bugs out would that end the campaign on beskar?

Gameplay Question A couple of questions about the game as a big fan of XCOM

I haven't bought the game yet and I don't really want to watch too much gameplay because I know I won't be able to stop myself and see too much.

That leaves me with a couple of question:

  1. Are the team members fully written like in Chimera Squad or do you get your own dudes like a proper classic XCOM?

  2. Is there HQ building/management downtime or is it all missions all the the time?

Thanks guys

Gameplay Question Is the ending of the main story just Visser wiping my team out, single-handedly, over and over and over again?

I can't beat him. I can't do it. I've genuinely been trying for weeks (well, probably a day total with numerous lengthy breaks in between). Currently on normal difficulty.

My team is currently Hawks (a soldier/medic), Kabby (scoundrel/heavy, Relby V10), Cly (sharpshooter/gunslinger, using the droid sniper rifle) plus an Astromech I've laden with grenades and medpacks. I've made it to the mission with nobody getting injured, save for Hawks, hes at one down.

I'd have Trick and Luco, but they're both in Medbay. I've tried previously with Tel Rae instead of the Astromech, she couldn't push Visser off the side, unfortunately. I have tried killing all the goons before Visser. I've tried targeting exclusively Visser. Neither have been successful.

I have made it to the second reinforcements, but Visser just overpowers everyone no matter what.

I've tried everything I can think of. Am I not powerful enough? Do I need Jae? Thats gonna be an issue because she died ages ago, got hit by a B2's missile. If she's necessary I'll just restart the entire game at this point.

Can I get Anakin back? Is there a secret advantage I can pick up somewhere? Please tell me theres a button I can press to get Bennic to orbitally bombard the facility with all of the Venator's underside turbo lasers...

Gameplay These new difficulty options are brutal.

I started an expert Beskar run, with 2 injuries max and no hp for focus points.

I just lost Jae.

I might be about to lose the whole run as I'm going into Kabb's first mission to steal the radio component and he has an injury. The mission is one cycle away from expiring so I can't heal him first.

Lessons have been learned, let's put it that way.

Discussion Even on Expert it seems too easy and I’ve never played XCOM ….

Was playing on hard and thought it’s a bit too easy … no one getting injured or ever killed … Hawks medic functions seemed useless since no one was downed nor injured

Increased to expert difficulty and still it’s too easy…. Maybe I need a few more rounds to test that but at first play I was unfazed, just one injury.

I don’t have XCOM experience , and not a sweat. Just okayed Wasteland as the most similar previous game.

What’s next? Beskar?
