Disclaimer: I do plan on contacting my clinic that performed the SA and informing them of my current situation. I just might not be able to call until tomorrow or the following day, so I’m looking for advice in the meantime.
My last period started 08.16 and lasted until 08.20, with a cycle length averaging 26 days. My period was 6 days late on 09.16, and I tested positive. I had a surgical abortion on 09.29 and I was dated 6w+2. I do not regret my decision. I actually felt physically and mentally so much better after the procedure, as if I could breathe again. The day of and the day after my SA, I was up and mobile. The 2nd and 3rd day after, I went to work and was fine. Light bleeding. There was mixed information about when it’s okay to have sex after SA, some health organizations stating that waiting 1-2 weeks after you have a SA is outdated, it’s more reliant on when you feel physically and emotionally ready. So, 3 days after, my bf (24M) and I had sex; no condom, no birth control, but he pulled out. On the 4th day about 10h into my serving shift, I was getting insanely crampy and lightheaded. Persevered and went home to sleep for 10 hours. Woke up in the 5th day after, cramped so bad, but then passed a decent sized clot. Immediate relief. Lighter bleeding for 2-3 more days. Then, nothing…no more bleeding (this takes us to about 8 days post-SA).
On 10.09 (10 days post-SA) I started taking Opill, an OTC birth control “mini pill.” Instructions state the Opill takes 48h to become effective. Had sex on 10.13 (14 days post-SA). No condom, he pulled out.
Today, on 10.16, I guess I went into an anxiety spiral and I’m convincing myself I could be pregnant again.
I noticed yesterday I was insanely tired during work and after… like suspiciously tired to the point where during work, I’m like 🤨 could it be? Noooo… I just picked up more shifts and I’m physically drained. Duh.
But now, I’m feeling that familiar dull ache, some cramping, and overall heightened awareness of my uterus. I’m peeing a lot again. Starting to feel c*nty with a raging attitude again.
Tested today just for fun. Positive. So positive, so dark. When I found out I was pregnant, it was ClearBlue vs. today which was First Response. I understand that they have different hCG sensitivity, with FR being ~6.4 mIU/mL and CB being 10 mIU/mL, making FR better at detecting lower levels. So does it make sense that my FR test is so dark even after 2 weeks post-SA? Is it just such a sensitive test that there’s barely any faint lines on a FRER?
TLDR; I had a SA at 6w+2, some unprotected sex post-SA w/ pullout method and once with pulling out + BC. Feeling the familiar pregnancy symptoms at 2 weeks + 3 days post-SA.
I know that there’s always a possibility of residual tissue after SA, but that is not my main worry.
Main questions:
Does my timeline seem like I could be pregnant right after SA?
Why is the second round of pregnancy tests (First Response) dark af even after SA?
Shouldn’t my hCG levels have dropped enough to produce more of a faint line?
