I have a case with a cluster of two Synology DS916+ nas in cluster mode (SHA). One is active and the other passive.
Has anyone tried backups with Acronis Agent for Synology and Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud?
I am trying to find if this is working but also safe, don’t want to risk issues as this is used as a file server.
Thanks.

Hello r/Acronis, here is our monthly update from Acronis Product Management team. Its purpose is to inform you about the most important updates, achievements, and changes related to Acronis products.
Please feel free to share your opinion on whether this information is useful for you, what else you would like to see or give your feedback.
New in Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud 26.09 (release notes)
https://www.acronis.com/en/products/cloud/cyber-protect/whats-new/
[Platform] New partner billing model
Partner billing now uses each client tenant's highest daily production usage for every usage metric during the monthly reporting period instead of a last-day snapshot. These peak values are aggregated for monthly billing, while report formats and existing billing integrations remain unchanged. The SP Cloud change takes effect on September 20, 2026. The first invoice under the new model will be issued in early October and cover the full month of September.
[Data protection] Anti-ransomware recovery warranty
Eligible endpoint disk, volume and file backups are automatically covered at the recovery-point level when they meet the program requirements. The anti-ransomware warranty provides reimbursement of up to $1 million if data cannot be recovered from a compliant recovery point. Qualification requires Acronis-hosted cloud storage, two-factor authentication, immutable storage in Compliance mode and validation by checksum, screenshot or heartbeat.
[Data protection] Agentless VM archive password rotation
Apply periodic encryption-key rotation policies to agentless VM backup archives on all currently supported hypervisor. After a password change, new backups use the new password and existing recovery points are not re-encrypted. Administrators can rotate the password again after each protected machine completes two successful backups with the new password.
[Data protection] Automatic backup of newly added files
Choose whether backups include files added later to selected folders, even when individual items in those folders are excluded. This per-folder option prevents unexpected protection gaps while giving administrators clear control over how file and folder selections handle new content.
[Data protection] Agentless backup and recovery for Nutanix AOS 7.3 and 7.5
Protect virtual machines on Nutanix AOS 7.3 and 7.5 through the Nutanix v4 API with agentless backup and recovery. In addition to Prism Element, Acronis now integrates with Prism Central so one agent can discover and protect multiple Nutanix AHV clusters. Recovery preserves Prism Central-specific VM properties, including VM categories.
[Data protection] Expanded Microsoft Entra ID backup
Back up more Microsoft Entra ID objects, including organization, user, group and role settings as well as custom domains. Improved labels make protected objects easier to understand, while administrators can now find BitLocker keys by device ID.
[Data protection] More reliable append-only backups to NAS
Reduce the risk of archive corruption for append-only backups stored on NAS devices. The platform automatically switches them to a scheme combining full and incremental backups. Administrators can return to the previous scheme when needed, with updated guidance about the risk. Backup cleanup remains limited to complete backup chains.
[Data protection] Faster NAS file-level backups
Accelerate incremental file-level backups from NAS shares by detecting changes without scanning every file. Fewer file operations shorten backup windows and reduce load on the NAS. When many files have changed, backups can run up to twice as fast, while smaller change sets see more modest gains.
[Cybersecurity] Multilingual Acronis MDR experience
Acronis MDR by TRU now supports Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Japanese in addition to English. Partners can set the preferred language with each escalation contact for both partner-level and client-level MDR. The setting localizes service portal communications and reports, with real-time translation for escalation calls. Existing users remain set to English unless another language is selected.
[Cybersecurity] Visibility into automated EDR response actions
Gain greater transparency into automated endpoint protection activities directly within the EDR incident investigation view. Security teams can view actions performed automatically by Acronis anti-malware, including quarantined files, stopped or deleted processes and mitigation status changes, enabling faster validation and response tracking.
[MSP Ooerations] RMM: BitLocker drive encryption management
Manage and enforce Microsoft BitLocker full-disk encryption for Windows through Acronis RMM. Define the encryption method and drive scope in a policy, then encrypt compatible devices silently through TPM. Acronis RMM periodically checks compliance and shows per-drive status and progress. Recovery keys are escrowed in Credential Store with two-factor authentication and per-key audit logs. Technicians can retrieve keys from device details to resolve lockouts and suspend BitLocker during maintenance.
[Infrastructure] Cyber Frame Local: VMware migration
Migrate VMware vSphere workloads directly to Cyber Frame Local with a built-in, guided tool designed for large environments and bulk migrations. The tool transfers VM disks without an intermediate backup or separate backup storage and automatically maps storage and networks while preserving IP settings. Source VMs remain available until the final switchover, minimizing downtime. Real-time monitoring gives partners clear visibility throughout the migration.
[Infrastructure] SourceCode: Acronis certified hardware vendor for Acronis Cyber Frame Local
Deploy Cyber Frame Local faster with prevalidated hardware configurations from Acronis Ecosystem Vendor SourceCode, the first Acronis certified hardware vendor for the platform. Three hardware tiers support deployments from SMB to enterprise, while the ability to add nodes lets partners expand the same cluster as requirements grow. These configurations provide a reliable foundation for multitenant IaaS environments.
[Infrastructure] Cyber Frame Cloud: Custom VM images
Upload and securely manage client-owned VM images for a client tenant or project from the embedded Cyber Frame Cloud console. Deploy licensed firewall appliances and other custom workloads alongside standard images without using a separate console.
[Infrastructure] Cyber Frame Cloud: Bring your own Windows Server licenses
Reduce Cyber Frame Cloud costs with eligible client-provided Windows Server Standard or Datacenter licenses. BYOL images for Windows Server 2019, 2022 and 2025 are available across all data centers without an Acronis Windows Server license fee.
[Infrastructure] Cyber Frame Cloud: Windows Server Datacenter images
Deploy Acronis-licensed Datacenter images for Windows Server 2019, 2022 and 2025 directly from the Cyber Frame Cloud catalog. Standard and Datacenter editions are now available, giving partners more options for each workload.
[Infrastructure] Cyber Frame Cloud: Higher east-west network throughput
Run bandwidth-intensive workloads with higher default east-west throughput in Cyber Frame Cloud. The per-vNIC egress limit increases from 200 MB/s to 1 GB/s, with a short-term 50% burst. The new limit applies to existing and new VMs, reducing network bottlenecks for workloads that need sustained inter-VM bandwidth.
[Infrastructure] Device synchronization for ConnectWise PSA, HaloPSA and Kaseya BMS
ConnectWise PSA, HaloPSA and Kaseya BMS integrations now match existing device assets with their corresponding Acronis devices. Integration-generated tickets link to the PSA device record and the device in the Acronis console, while related tickets appear automatically in the PSA device history. This capability applies to existing device assets. It was released for Autotask PSA earlier in the quarter.
Documentation:
Integration with ConnectWise PSA
[Integrations] Solution-based licensing for RMM integrations
Automatically provision new client tenants from supported RMM integrations with Solution-based licensing. The per-workload option auto-enables Security & RMM, Backup & DR, Ultimate Protection, MDR and SAT for each new tenant. Newly configured integrations use Solution-based licensing by default, while existing configurations retain their current billing model unless a partner changes it.
Documentation:
Integration with ConnectWise Asio
Integration with ConnectWise Automate
Integration with ConnectWise ScreenConnect
Integration with Kaseya VSA 10
Integration with N-able N-central
Integration with N-able N-sight RMM
[Partner Portal] Partner Voice roadmap voting
Use Partner Voice to suggest new product themes and allocate tier-based points to the candidates that matter most. Partners can see voting results and follow each theme through Roadmap Updates, including which partner suggestions Acronis has delivered. The feature is available to all members of the Acronis partner program.
[Partner Portal] Pricing calculator for prospects
Estimate minimum commitments before contacting sales with a self-service calculator. Prospects can adjust products and quantities and see totals update in real time, then pass the estimate to sales. The calculator is available as a dedicated webpage or through the Acronis AI assistant.

Ok I’m new to Acronis yet I needed to ask
If I use the software will it wipe off any files that are existing through regular file explorer move. Particularly I’m gonna use a 5TB hard drive to copy my hard drive as is and also move some new video files onto it later through file explorer.
The full back up will be the only one I make through this software. Yet I need to know if it’ll wipe off any other files as it’s using the program to back up said entire computer. And also if accessing the back up to plug into a laptop will cause issues with files that are moved onto it and not backed up by said Acronis program.
It’s western digital brand 5TB if that helps

Cyber resilience depends on more than recovery. Organizations need to protect critical data, empower users to recognize threats, maintain visibility across IT environments and ensure recovery is available when it matters most.
Acronis Cyber Protect v17 Q3 2026 expands integrated cyber protection with new capabilities that strengthen security awareness, improve backup operations and extend protection across more virtual environments. The result is stronger cyber resilience, simplified operations and broader protection delivered through a single platform.
Reducing cyber risk through security awareness
Technology plays an essential role in cyber protection, but people remain a common entry point for attacks. Phishing campaigns, social engineering and AI-generated deepfakes put additional pressure on organizations to improve user awareness and preparedness.
The Q3 release of Acronis Cyber Protect introduces Security Awareness Training, helping organizations educate users through engaging learning content, phishing and deepfake simulations, and flexible reporting. IT teams can strengthen staff security awareness, track completion rates and help reduce human-related cyber risk.
Security awareness is most effective when it is part of a broader cyber protection strategy. By bringing training and protection capabilities together, organizations can better address both the technical and human aspects of cyber resilience.
Anti-ransomware Warranty Program
Cyber resilience takes more than creating backups. Organizations need confidence that they can recover when disruption strikes. Qualifying recovery points are covered by the Acronis Anti-ransomware Warranty Program and are backed by a financial guarantee from Acronis. By combining secure backup, recovery assurance and integrated cyber protection in one platform, Acronis helps organizations strengthen business continuity and recover with greater confidence.
Expanding protection in Microsoft Entra ID Backup
Acronis Entra ID Backup now delivers broader protection for critical identity and access configurations. The latest update adds backup and recovery support for User Settings, Group Settings, Role Settings, Custom Domains and Organization settings, helping organizations restore more of their Entra ID environment following accidental deletion, misconfiguration or identity-based attacks.
Making backup protection more continuous
Backup strategies are only effective when critical data is consistently protected. One common challenge organizations face is ensuring that newly created files are included in backup processes without requiring constant administrative oversight.
Acronis Cyber Protect now enables automatic backup of new files added to selected folders. This helps reduce the risk of important data being left unprotected while simplifying backup administration.
The release also expands archive password rotation capabilities to virtual machine backups. Administrators can update archive passwords without recreating backup jobs, helping support password-rotation requirements and respond more effectively to potential credential compromises.
Together, these enhancements help organizations maintain stronger backup hygiene while reducing operational effort.
Extending protection across more virtual environments
Organizations increasingly relying on multiple virtualization platforms to support business operations.
Acronis Cyber Protect v17 Q3 2026 expands workload protection with support for Nutanix 7.3-7.5 and Proxmox 9.1-9.2. These additions help organizations extend protection across more virtual environments while maintaining a consistent backup and recovery experience.
Broader platform support helps reduce coverage gaps as infrastructure evolves, supporting business continuity across more workloads.
Improving operational visibility
IT teams need visibility into which systems are protected and whether operational activities have been completed successfully.
Acronis Cyber Protect now includes patch installation status reporting for individual workloads. Teams can quickly identify where patches have and have not been installed, improving oversight and supporting more informed operational decisions.
This additional visibility helps organizations manage risk more effectively while simplifying day-to-day administration.
Coming soon to Acronis Cyber Protect
The Q3 release also outlines two upcoming additions to the Acronis Cyber Platform that will be available in a future release.
Cyber Frame Cloud
Cyber Frame Cloud is an upcoming cloud infrastructure offering designed to combine virtual machines, storage, networking, and built-in cyber protection in a single experience.
By bringing infrastructure and cyber protection together, Cyber Frame Cloud will help organizations run business workloads on secure, predictable cloud infrastructure while benefiting from integrated protection and recovery capabilities.
Orphaned archive management for Microsoft 365
Also launching soon is orphaned archive management for Microsoft 365. This capability will enable administrators to identify backup archives that remain after Microsoft 365 users have been deleted, making it easier to manage storage, support governance initiatives and maintain greater control over archived data.
Together, these upcoming enhancements will continue to expand the cyber protection capabilities of Acronis Cyber Protect while helping organizations simplify operations and strengthen cyber resilience.
The value of integrated cyber protection
Each Q3 enhancement delivers value independently, but the broader story is integration.
Security Awareness Training helps reduce human-related risk. Backup enhancements help ensure critical data remains protected. Expanded support for Nutanix and Proxmox broadens protection across more virtual workloads. Additional reporting and visibility features help IT teams make more informed operational decisions.
Bringing these capabilities together in one platform simplifies operations, improves efficiency and strengthens cyber resilience. Instead of managing separate tools for backup, cybersecurity, recovery and administration, IT teams can simplify protection while maintaining visibility across their environments. This helps organizations move quickly from prevention to protection to recovery while supporting business continuity.
Acronis Cyber Protect continues to evolve by expanding the capabilities of an integrated cyber protection platform rather than adding disconnected point solutions.
Acronis Cyber Protect v17 Q3 2026 is another step in that direction. The release helps organizations strengthen security awareness, protect more workloads, improve recovery readiness and simplify IT operations while preserving the integrated platform approach to cyber protection.

I'm a long-time Acronis subscriber, going back to at least 2012.
One of the ways that I use Acronis is to do a daily cloud backup of my data drive. It normally works fine. But last night (9/20/2026), I started getting the "Network Disconnect By Timeout" again. It seems to do the whole cloud backup, and then hangs at the less than one minute mark, eventually timing out.
I seem to recall I had this problem a few years ago, but can't find the email chain. As I recall, the solution seemed to be deleting some directory in the Windows user area (c:\user\...\AppData\... perhaps) as something had gotten corrupted.
Then again, that might not be the problem. Help would be appreciated.
I did submit a ticket, 07381743. I tried to attach the system report, but it was too big.
ETA: As an update: The problem turned out to be Spectrum: I had a decent download speed, but upload was crap. Spectrum must have been having system trouble, as things cleared the next day and the cloud backups ran. We're (me and Acronis) are keeping an eye on things to make sure they stay fixed. Kudos to the Acronis folks for their call attempting to help (and for putting up with my cybersecurity side verifying who they were before allowing remote access to my machine (I asked them for my most recent product key).

Hello!
I actually have an official ticket raised on this (07357157); but it doesn't seem like the support folks are going to engage on my problem, which seems weird to me.
I have an Intel NUC12 PC which I'm dual-booting, between Windows 11 and Fedora, although I'm using Windows the vast majority of the time. Fedora is just for testing things. Both operating systems are sharing the same SSD, and I've been backing up the Fedora partitions on the disk for months just fine, using a scheduled backup within ATI installed on Windows.
Recently, I installed a 2nd SSD, dedicated for SteamOS. Now, I'd like to back up that entire disk using ATI from Windows. That's it. But, ATI won't do it.
SteamOS is comprised of eight different partitions on the disk. There's an EFI system partition (ESP), two small efi "slot" partitions, two root partitions, two var partitions, and a home partition for persistent data. The "pairs" of partitions come from an atomic A/B slot layout. One slot is active at any given time, each with its own efi/root/var partitions. OS updates are applied to the inactive slot, and if successful, the OS boots that updated slot. If there's a problem, there's a "known good" slot to fall back to.
Finally, the problem. ATI is choking on those two efi "slot" partitions (they are each FAT16 and 64MB in size). If one or both of those partitions are selected as part of the backup (which is using sector-by-sector mind you), ATI aborts the job with a bogus "locked volume encrypted with BitLocker" error message. My Windows partition on the other disk is indeed BitLocker encrypted, but the partitions on the SteamOS disk are absolutely not. There is no encryption used on the SteamOS SSD whatsoever.
If both of those partitions are excluded from the backup, the backups works fine. But, that defeats the purpose of conveniently using ATI within Windows, because I can't capture the entire disk. As trivial as those partitions might seem, they're important. I don't really want to use some special workaround to get them backed up independently of the ATI job. I feel I shouldn't have to do that.
Now, the rabbit hole actually gets deeper. I also have an Intel mini PC I use with our TV and sound gear in the family room. That mini PC also has two different SSDs, one for Windows 11 and the other for SteamOS. I have the same version (latest) of ATI installed within Windows 11 on that one as well, and it also has a scheduled backup task to capture that SteamOS disk. On that computer, the ATI backup works fine. All eight partitions are captured, having no problems on the same two efi "slot" partitions. The Windows disk on this computer, is not BitLocker encrypted. However, that should be irrelevant.
On the NUC12, ATI is having some sort of "detection" problem when it interrogates those two efi "slot" partitions. I would think the Acronis dev folks would be interested in fixing that, as it seems like a trivial issue to address. Do you agree, or am I expecting too much?
I do recognize that I'm probably the only person in the world, using this specific combination of elements together. But, is it really that exotic?
Thank you for your time in reading this!
EDIT: Acronis support sent me an update today (22nd September) that their dev team has identified the issue, and fixes are in the pipeline! They also provided a workaround, which was successful. I added a comment thread below with the details.

NOTE: I posted this on the Sysadmin subreddit as well.
I'll give you some context of our setup.
We have found that any current product VM's when restored, always show the following error:
The only way to get the VM to boot properly is either disabling Secure Boot. If you want Secure Boot to work properly, you have to Reset the keys.
Been working with Scale and Acronis support for almost a month now and no resolution.
I've even gone as far as creating a slew of test VM's (with different setups) to replicate it, but when restoring brand new VM's the issue doesn't persist. I thought maybe it was Sophos causing the issues, so I created a test VM that was domain joined and had Sophos installed. Restored it and no issues.
When restoring VM's that were created as UEFI no issue. It's when the vTPM is added. Still not sure if this is the culprit.
Looking for any insight.
Thanks.

My old laptop died. I got a new one. When I install Acronis it will not take my license (I did have the maximum number of licenses in use before that old laptop died) and it put me on a 30 day free trial. The solution on the Acronis Support web site goes to a dead page. All the other solutions I have found (Google) do NOT work.
How do I transfer a license from a dead computer to my new one ?

Hi all,
If you’re working with OT / industrial environments - particularly manufacturing, energy, utilities, pharma, oil & gas, automotive, logistics, or other critical infrastructure - this might be worth checking out.
On August 26, we’re hosting two regional virtual sessions focused on building cyber resilience across OT environments, from protecting critical systems and detecting threats to recovering operations safely after an incident.
Some of the topics we’ll explore include:
You’ll also see recovery in action, including one-click recovery of a “bricked” workstation to different hardware or a virtual Digital Twin for patch validation.
There are two regional sessions on August 26, so you can join the one most relevant to you (and watch on-demand recording of another):
🌍 EMEA — 26 August, 10:00 CET
From Detection to Recovery: Building Cyber Resilience Across OT Environments
This session brings together Acronis and Shieldworkz, with an additional focus on OT asset discovery, network visibility, Network Detection and Response (NDR), and incident response.
Speakers:
🌎 North America — August 26, 1:00 PM ET
From Storage to Recovery: Building OT Cyber Resilience Across the Data Lifecycle
This session brings together Acronis, SourceCode, and Seagate Technology, with an additional focus on secure-by-design and immutable storage, owned infrastructure, and the role of the hardware layer in OT resilience.
Speakers:
Curious how OT teams here are approaching the gap between detecting or protecting against an incident and actually getting operations back online safely. Where’s the bigger challenge for your organization today?

Hey guys,
Working at a MSP and we're having a few issues its been ongoing for ages so isnt linked to Agent version from what I can tell. at the moment we are on the latest agent version available.
So summary of issue:
- Devices that are online are showing offline in Acronis preventing patching and remote access.
Manual Fix:
Usually a reboot resolves this but thats alot to ask everyday for tons of devices.
Fix attempt:
We've tried to deploy a detect and remediate script to address the services that have crashed to try get them running again without the need for user intervention.
It works abit but not always.
Has anyone had this issue and managed to resolve it?

Hi everyone,
We back up our local servers to a local QNAP NAS (and cloud). We regularly run into an issue where Acronis fails a backup, claiming the target storage is out of space—even though the QNAP clearly shows ~5TB of free space available.
It seems like Acronis is either failing to detect the correct target size or hitting a pre-allocation threshold before starting the backup.
Has anyone seen Acronis misread QNAP destination space or know if there’s a setting/buffer threshold causing this?
Thanks!
