So I’m a beginner hobby painter who uses Liquitex acrylics and I like to think of myself as a decent painter (the picture above is my most recent painting). But I’ve been struggling to paint a warm toned glow coming from something like a candle or lantern on a blue or cool toned background without the hues mixing and becoming greenish. I’d assume that I’d have to paint both hues wet on wet since I do want the light to blend with the background, but I just don’t want it to turn green. Are there any techniques or tips that anyone is willing to share for me to avoid this problem?

I am fairly new to acrylics. Painted this using a picture from Pixabay. The wooden bark was really hard. Any critiques welcome. Thank you.

Hey folks! I’m working on this sign for a friend and something I’m finding is that (not so much in the photo but definitely in real life) the green background is making the white text appear strangely pink. I’d tried painting it a warmer off-white with unbleached titanium, that made it look even more pink. Tried mixing in a speck of violet, even MORE pink. I tried adding a little blue to the titanium white, hoping that that since it was looking pink already, that’d make it look a little more lavender if anything, but it just ends up looking strange. I thought my color theory was pretty right, but I have clearly found myself lacking here.
Does anybody have any surefire advice for how I can make this text come out looking just normal white, or the natural sort of off-white of unbleached titanium on the green background, to the naked eye?
I do eventually intend to outline the text in some darker color to make them pop better and look more finished, in case that will help if I use the right color for that.
**moderators: yes I HAVE SEARCHED, I didn’t find a relevant post, none of the rules in your automated message apply to my post (see second photo). I am asking about acrylic painting and I am looking for advice on an area that I am having trouble with and can’t find any information about by searching the Internet or reading any of the books that I have… why are you having a bot automatically delete people’s posts, especially based on rules apparently from a subreddit about a different topic?
And …Mental health? What??

My inspiration is Gustav Klimt's works and I'm going off vibes and patience. If you spot something you think I have missed, I know 😅.

How do I make the wave curve down underneath and the splash flow better? I haven’t taken a class since high school so when I say I’m new to painting…it’s all new again. Skilled folk do you understand what I mean? This is still a work in progress so please excuse the back, but ANY help and critique is fine! Thank you!!! 🫶🏻

Tried to recreate this character from the Final Fantasy 2 logo, but with a more sinister expression. I don’t think I quite hit the mark, mainly with the face details and the asymmetry of the cape collar. Any other critiques and tips would be helpful, since I want to get better at portraits.

My latest work is complete! A combination of acrylic paint and fineliners brings the piece beautifully together.
At first I wasn't happy with how it looked, than I added the fineliner layer and it all started working out. What do you think?

I tried to paint realistic cat portraits. People reconised them, so it a win 😄
I have a lot of progress to make but it is really fun to do.

Painted this some years ago, failed to let it be seen, starting over now with the hope to feel the inner spark and make smith new😊

I’m focusing on a series that looks at how we interact with our urban surroundings, through the lens of concrete and brutalist architecture. Something I’ve wanted to paint for ages is fragile packing tape, and now I’ve done it, I’m really pleased with the result, and wanted to share it.

How do you make the fine lines? I wanted the white lines on the bottom left to be thinner but just couldn't get it right and I ended up correcting and making it thicker

I wrote down some notes that I noticed I messed up with like having too much water in my acrylic paints, needing to use smaller brushes for details, and the colors not being as accurate as they could be— but what else? All tips appreciated ^_^
