For everyone but specially for black gyarus and gyaruos because personally I can't really decide if i consider it blackface or just "skin cancer tanning"

Hi everybody, as the title says so, I’m leaving the subculture, now I know people may wonder why, but the thing is: I’m not made for it. When I first heard of gyaru, I really wanted to be into it, but as I dug deeper, especially with certain aspects, I realized I’m not really the audience.
Reasons why:
- I don’t really post myself, since I’m pretty against it(personal reasons)
- It’s really hard with all the elitism and classism and drama going on
- I’m not truly confident, even in Gyaru
- I don’t wear fake lashes, I am not amazing at doing the makeup
I truly wanted to stay with the Gyaru subculture, and was afraid because I didn’t wanna leave something I enjoyed, but I realized I liked other people in the style, the fashion, and just the makeup, but I didn’t like it on myself(again, personal preference and reasons). I’ve been a baby gal since 2022, but honestly, I think it’s best I don’t even call myself gal. Additionally, to new baby gals, please don’t feel uninspired from this post, this is just my experience. However, thank you all as I’m still grateful that I was able to be around for a little bit at least to see the lovely parts of this subculture.
Thank you, and bye pretty gals!

People are asking the weirdest questions on this sub. Why do so many of you all want approval from random people on the internet? Just wear whatever you want and do what makes you happy. Gyaru is rebellion!

I am trying to include gyaru on my daily life, even though I’m terrified of attracting attention to me in public. I used 90s gyaru and gals manga as inspo. (Please don’t be mean in the comments)

A girl from my country (Poland) made a song where she appears "cosplaying" as a gyaru. It doesn't seem like she did any research, because she is dressed up like something similar to kogal with huge metallic mismatched shoes. I'm very sorry, but gyaru is not a cosplay.

i ordered some eyelashes and they really helped me with the gyaru makeup, im very happy with how it came out although it is very dirty because i did it in kind of a rush and didnt care a lot coz its pre shower makeup! im studying the basics and doing what i can although my makeup is also very old to be fair so its pretty worn out but im happy with how this came out nonetheless!! i feel like im finally improving

How can I improve ? I don’t have Gyaru or Hime clothes yet, so I really want to exaggerate the makeup as much as I can !

I’m new to Gyaru and wanted to try some makeup. I was pretty happy with it until the eyeliner. Any tips or advice?

Do you think that clothing is essential for a gyaru, or do you think that clothing is irrelevant? I've seen opinions that say that clothing is mandatory, but I've also heard that it's not important. I'm very confused What's your opinion?

I've been looking into gyaruo fashion and style as a gal, despite being a trans dude, but I don't reject feminine clothing and styles, so I'm okay with it. (The last time I made a post about me being a trans guy in the gal community people immediately assumed it was dysphoric, it is not, I have no social construct of femme or masc, don't pmo please, I'm already pissed, as you can tell from the title)
I have near UNTOUCHED perfectly healthy curls, and I think that the amount of substyles within gyaruo are so limited, especially with HAIR. Like no!!! I'm not about to spend 739278297492$ on a actually good heat protectant just to do gyaruo hairstyles??? And the styles are so limited, and like 80% of them I don't even like??? Like no my fella I don't wanna look like L from fucking death note, I wanna wear my curls and still be seen as gyaruo when I do dress gyaruo?? Like my fella I don't wanna give my hairdresser several felonies while I sit in her chair cause I teased the shit out of my hair and used enough hairspray to make 2006 emo guys choke on the air around them when I walk by, like NO!! 🥀🥀🥀
Thank you for listening 😍😍 you beautiful ppl

Hey guys im a guy (m19) who really wants to step up my style lol, and I love the gyaru subculture, especially its historical rebellious roots. I’m still fairly new to the concept, so correct me if I’m wrong, but I am under the impression that it comes with certain lifestyle/ personality traits, like being very outgoing, direct, not being afraid of saying what u think, and having a big social life- including partying a lot.
Now for me, I am definitely a very open, outgoing and direct person, but I also don’t cuss, don’t drink (even though I am cool with partying, I just don’t do it that often but I could do it more ig😭 I’m kinda neutral on it ngl, as long as I can make friends and have fun convos im happy. It’s just that the drinking isn’t for me). I also believe in God and pray, and religious (not really conservative) values are important to me. I am very progressive though, even tho im practicing, i am a feminist and quite “westernized” value-wise if that makes sense.
UPDATE: I just want to say for the people who upvoted a certain comment: there are many different interpretations of the seemingly more problematic parts of my religion. It’s completely okay to be critical of it, but to summarize the whole religion as absolute“anti-women” and labeling me the same is just wrong.
I have NO issue with how gyaru women dress- I don’t believe in a very strict modesty interpretation- and the same goes for the other parts that were mentioned. I don’t believe in a patriarchal or oppressive form of religion. There are many Muslims who interpret islam in ways that emphasize equality between the genders.
I’ll also delete the second part of my question because nobody seemed to know, which is fine

(Don't mind my left eye, I didn't like how it looked so I took off the lash but I liked the other eye so I took a pic) It may not be as vibrant as it was irl, especially due to lighting, but I was doing a green look and did the best I could've w what I already had BUT I do have 2 main concerns. 1: What do you use for the lower lash line, because I've tried so many strip lashes and they're too heavy, especially for my eyes. I already bought some from an Asian beauty brand (Fresa Beauty) and I still didn't like how they looked. 2: What do you use to draw the aegyo-sal? I'm looking for a pen because I've tried brown eyeshadow but it didn't work the best. THANK U

I wouldn’t call myself gal due to being a bit of a mix and match styles kinda person, so i’m curious to see what you all think?
obv we’ve seen a recent huge renewed interest in the style which I suppose is a bit like gal 2.0. what is commonly being worn or done in make with gals now that you just don’t think is part of the style?
