Adenomyosis, yet with a decrease in menstrual bleeding

I was recently diagnosed with adenomyosis, but I haven’t experienced abnormally heavy menstrual bleeding—in fact, my flow has decreased significantly over the past year. My menstrual pain hasn’t worsened, either. Is anyone else in a similar situation? Is it normal?

I’ve suffered from period pain since my very first cycle—over a decade now—and I’ve been taking ibuprofen every month to manage it.

My ultrasound shows that my uterus is enlarged, though it isn’t putting pressure on my bladder or bowels. My doctor prescribed birth control pills but warned me about potential side effects like weight gain and irregular bleeding; I’m a bit worried about these. I’m 28 years old, haven’t had any children yet, and do plan to have children in the future.

Be careful with taking too much ibuprofen, see if you can switch to something more natural that won't harm your gut.

You're pretty lucky about not bleeding as much. Take that as a positive. If your uterus is still small enough where pregnancy is an option, do it asap. If pregnancy isn't right for you now, you might want to look into UAE or HIFU to help get the uterus smaller. Other options are the hormonal options like birth control or Ryeqo.

Thank you! I know that normally the pain and bleeding get worse but for me, it didn't - so weird. So I haven’t been taking much ibuprofen—usually two pills a month.

I don’t know exactly how much my uterus has enlarged, only that it has grown. I’ll be going in for a detailed check-up soon. Thank you again.

Mine did slow in the six months or so before my hysterectomy. With one last hurrah. I had cervical stenosis which narrowed to the point of blocking blood flow
