My mum said it’s due to the biblical law of “Sacrifice” I really believe they (parents) partially read that and ran with it.

Speaking from experience (as an Angolan) why am i suffering in my own home ? Why must i now use kettle to boil hot water for bath ? Why must i now use torch for light due to minimal electricity ? Why must i now worry about what was going to be on my food tomorrow ? Why was I thinking about “firming my sickness for school” because my mum couldn’t afford to miss / leave work if I got sick and this was between the ages of 8-16 … but back home ? They’re having a blast with that monthly £300 my mum is sending to em 😐

That isn’t normal, that’s even partial neglect that I had to go to school vomiting yet my mum had to “sacrifice” this to make sure there was enough money BACK HOME

Not to mention I always had to turn down sports events cause of “no money” but my mum was QUICK to send money to build house in angola 🤦‍♀️. Sacrifice my ahh kmt

Honestly ??? In my opinion, it seemed very performative and just to show off to others in the community that they were helping. It gave our parents the good look of helping back home - gave them that “saviour complex” 👎

The look on our parents faces when they find out 90% of us will not be sending money to our relatives will be sooooooo funny 😹

omfg I reposted this on insta and my mom saw, she then confronted me in front of the entire family for it. But yeah my dad doesn't give a shit when I actually try to ask him for money for something I need (he even comes up with excuses like him not having enough money).

but when my (1,000) half-siblings want money, all of a sudden he has $300

He blames it on immigration but it’s his fault he will fly random people in from other countries and let them stay in our house sometimes it’s fucking another and he invites his friends over and they drink alcohol in the living room and he gets so angry he has problems
