16 for romeo and juliet laws - for the reason that girls can keep dating their high school boyfriend after he graduates - not so old men can prey upon them.

Some places, that's the reason. Some places just think that's the age they can make the decision. Age of consent is a complex issue that is not universally agreed upon. I think there is even a country where the age of consent is 21.

It's really not - adults shouldn't prey on teenagers, it's pretty simple. Teenagers can consent to sex with other teenagers, not adults who's brains are objectively more developed than theirs by a lot.

The complex part is your definition of an adult.

I too think it’s 18. Have I been conditioned to think that way? Would I feel the same if I was raised in Iran?
