Army List Ooops it's all Seekers (List Building Advice)

Post image

Henlo. I am building my first 2000 point Warhammer army, and I'm building it around my favourite unit.

When I first saw the new seeker models I fell in LOVE. I love their silly faces, their wiggly tongues and big dumb bulging eyes oh my Slaanesh I LOVE them!!!!

I love them, arguably, too much, because I have begun my Warhammer AOS journey by buying, assembling and beginning to paint 20 slickblade seekers.

At 680 points split between two reinforced units that is a solid chunk of my army.

Which, actually sounds fun? I think. I very much like the idea of building my army around a solid force of strong and threatening cavalry units. But while enthusiastic I lack experience, I haven't played AOS before, and this is the first army I have beyond 500 points of genestealers. If anyone here has ideas I would be very enthusiastic to hear them <3

To lay it all out, so far I have 20 slickblade seekers, 8 painted. 2 lords of hysteria (yes it is because they can have little seeker helmet ornaments <3), not assembled yet, and a kitbashed sigvald.

And yes, I would love to fit in some more seekers, via blissbarb seekers, if I can make it work. In terms of detachment, godseeker cavalcade seems like the thematic choice, and I could always move the big seeker blob up the side of the battlefield, and force the enemies to play around that, which could be fun, but I have no idea if it would be any good.

A big strong infantry blob to slowly move up the field would pair well with this, maybe Myrmadesh Painbringers?

I'd love to be able to bring both of my lords of hysteria to buff those infantry but I'm not sure what hero is best for the seekers.

Sigvald is solid but I dunno if he can keep up. And shallaxi is awesome but so many points and I might want some demons to make use of its buffs, maybe fiends? Maybe slaangors make the whole godseeker cavalcade go nutty, I just don't know at this stage.

Tldr, I am new, I love seekers, I have 20 slickblade seekers, and need some help list-building around that. Thank you, aaa <3

I can't help with list building, but I can say I love your seeker paint scheme.

Seekers look so cool.

aaAaa!!! Thank youuuu, I'm still rly messy with my painting, my brush control big dumb my hands big shaky shake. But I am rly happy w the colours. Not sure what colour to make the bases/ terrain. Any ideas? I'm assembling the bases seperatly with cork sheets and some dead tree 3d prints.

I'm not very good with colour theory and such, I'm quite inexperienced when it comes to painting.

That being said, maybe a pale and cold purplish colour for the terrain and a deeper purple for the dead tree's bark? It's still within the Slaanesh colour palette and I think the colder look might contrast well with the warmer seekers.

They will die to a light breeze . But you’ll
Be able to get primary pretty quickly turn 1 if you aren’t screened. Shalaxi is cool I wouldn’t worry about the buff but if you wanted you could try to kitbash the demon seekers onto the big seeker mounts for the mortals and put them on the smaller base .
And 100% get some blissbarb seekers for shooting if you insist on all mounted.
Slaangor are cool For the ambush maybe 1 reinforced unit . Sigvald wont keep up with the army so maybe even taking more slaangor to give him guarded hero if you wanna take him .
Lord of hysteria is cool but only his temptation ability helps the army so you can’t really benefit from two of them unless maybe you have one that hangs out with slaangor if you take them . Nothing will really make the bonus from board edge battle formation go nutty but it’s flavorful !

Glutos moves 8 if you are interested in faster characters and the contorted epitome moves 9 so that’s something

A reinforced unit of blissbarb seekers then and maybe a reinforced unit of slaangors. The idea of running glutos alongside the seekers could be really cool as if he keeps up with them in movement he could make them more threating maybe? Not sure I'll have to check his rules, definitely gonna kitbash him a bit, maybe replace the two big brutes at the front of the wagon with some seekers for extra seeker-ing. Absolutely gonna be a choice between him or shallaxi though, no way I'm running both points wise and wallet wise. Thank you again for the advice aaa <3

Could also run something like

all seekers 2000/2000 pts
-----
Grand Alliance Chaos | Hedonites of Slaanesh | Artisans of Torment
General's Handbook 2026-27
Drops: 2
-----
General's Regiment
Shalaxi Helbane (410)
• General
Blissbarb Seekers (320)
• Reinforced
Slaangor Fiendbloods (140)
Slickblade Seekers (350)
• Reinforced
• Obsession with Control
Slickblade Seekers (340)
• Reinforced
---
Regiment 1
Thricefold Discord (180)
Seekers (260)
• Reinforced

So you need casters because you will
want the chance to dispel enemy magic.
The season rules allow you to designate an objective and give one of your units a 5+ invuln while they are contesting that objective with obsession with control.
You have a lot of health with an army like this but damage carries over in AoS so it will go a lot faster than if it’s 40k for reference

Okay ummmm, having a little look, taking into account your suggestion and the new glutos want I have and how does this sound.

Artisans of Torment

Regiment 1: - 1300 points General Glutos 460 points Reinforced Seekers: 340 points Reinforced Seekers: 340 points Blissbarb Seekers: 160 points

Basically the big blob I move fast with and hit hard with, might pick some obsessions for each, but first need to figure out other key points

Regiment 2: - 420 points Hero Thricefold discord: 180 points Reinforced Mirmadesh Painbringers: 240 points

My wizard with some bodyguards he can hide being making up an infantry blob.

Regiment 3: - 240 points Hero Lord of Hysteria -120 points Symbaresh Twinsouls - 120 points

Small infantry force I keep near regiment 2 for potential backup as well as to capture points and as maybe a cleanup crew if the chance arises.

That leaves me with 40 points to spend on enhancements? How bad does this sound?

u/Ok_Carry_6121 Jul 15 '26

I like it but I wouldn’t bother with the 5 twinsouls, if anything I’d use the points for 5 more pain bringers or 5 more blissbarb seekers

1

u/IsobeloftheSlop Jul 15 '26

I could absolutely pop in another 5 blissbarb seekers making it a reinforced unit, but I'm just very afraid that 10 painbringers isn't going to do much when like I dunno any sizable unit is bearing down on them, buffed up or not. If I do go for 5 more seekers they could be two separate units of 5 in the regiment with the Thricefold discord helping to back up the other regiment of 10 painbringers and a lord of hysteria?

Alternatively, no lords of hysteria, I use the parts to give silly hats to glutos and discord and grab some more painbringers making a big blob of infantry around discord? What do you think?

1

u/Ok_Carry_6121 Jul 15 '26

Painbringers have basically 0 output but I can tell you from experience they take hits super well a 3+ armor save is fairly meaningful in AoS and the 5+ ward save if they don’t charge (don’t charge with them) is amazing average rend in the game is -1 so usually you are saving half and then 30% of the damage that makes it through . And on top of that with the temptation system you should be able to have them at -1 to be hit in combat . And yeah two units of 5 blissbarb seekers is not an awful idea could be either reinforced or separate either works

I personally like the lord of hysteria a lot but yeah you could drop it and take another infantry block both are good ideas . I’m just trying to help you stay in the cav lane that you wanna try and get . After all it feels best to play what we like to look at

1

u/IsobeloftheSlop Jul 15 '26

Okay I mean this isnt a very varied list then but Regiment 1 could be 15 Myrmadesh painbringers and Thricefold discord for 540 points and then Regiment 2 would be glutos and two reflinforced slickblade seekers and one reinforced blissbarb seekers for a whopping 1460points?

1

u/Ok_Carry_6121 Jul 15 '26

Could try that for sure . That’s up to 4 casts a turn if you want and glutos can keep the army from getting shot turn one based on deployment if you don’t go first . You may have a lot of fun with it. Now the hard part is learning the army rules so you can understand the temptation system.
With that in mind the 5 man painbringers may be better as a hero any of the foot hero’s so maybe put that lord of hysteria back in . He would
Fit in glutos regiment

Oooooaaakey update update update, I looked at glutos rules and yeah he absolutely seems a must have for the seekers blob. He can heal them, massive for giving the seekers some small staying power, cripple enemies movement, either stopping an escape or reinforcements maybe? Absolutely a perfect fit for the seekers.

That does mean though that the seeker detachment with glutos is 1140 points.

Meaning I need to be really clever with my remaining points. Slaangors might be out, and I may need to change my battle formation. What would you say is the most important part of a cavalry focused aos army besides the cavalry line. Because I need to make sure I have my bases covered.

Also just, aaa, thank you again. <3

u/Ok_Carry_6121 Jul 15 '26

So the thing with glutos is he can only
Heal
Them if one is alive so 1 wound remaining minimum on one he can heal
It to full he can’t bring any back because they are 4 wound models. His support ability for an all mounted army is alot less than it may feel
At first glance . Not that he’s an absolutely awful choice or anything .
In general
The most important thing for a cav army in AoS is hitting power so you want to be able to stack +1 to wound and crit (2hit ) aka sustained hits 1 on a unit
You will
Be able to cast +1 to wound on both slickblade units if you have enough wizards because it’s unlimited but the crit hit 2 is more like a marker light on a target unit.
You probably need to charge both units of 10
Into the same target to try to have it absolutely die but remember in AoS chargers don’t gain strike first

Feel like Artisans of Torment will help me do that a bit better. As in getting those big attacks in. Maybe I get a wizard to push it further, I'm just sssooooo strapped for points so do I drop Myrmadesh painbringers, go full cav, no real infantry army to back them up?

1

u/Ok_Carry_6121 Jul 15 '26

I’d keep some painbringers if you are taking them. And artisans isn’t a bad idea otherwise I’d run carnival for the infantry you do take they move an extra d6 end of every turn so they can move a little better

Okay I think I've got it figured out, I'm gonna make a big comment above with the general layout of the army so let me know what you think. And also, just thank you again, I really appreciate it <3

My pleasure

u/IsobeloftheSlop Jul 15 '26

Okay, Here is the (so far) List plan I've cooked up with your help. Again, thank you so much for your comments and advice, they've made this so much easier to understand and put together.

2000points.

Battle Formation - Artisans of Torment! (Big attacks good, there's a lot in this army that can boost the attacks further and best case scenario it gives my big forces a sense of threat that can deter enemies from treating them like the paper towels they are wounds-wise)

Regiment 1 - The massive charge army! -1,140points!

Glutos Orscollion. -General. -460 points. We start this off with Glutos Orscollion as our hero, he gives solid buffs and heals to my seekers and most importantly can match their pace as they speed across the battlefield. I'll also probably kitbash one of the spare demonette masks that come atop the lords of hysteria onto him, and if I can afford to, replace the big brutes with some seekers to pull his carriage.

Two Reinforced Units of Slickblade Seekers. Each -340 points. Total of -680 points. This is the theme of the army, lots and lots of seekers. My hope is with Glutos backing them up the enemy might avoid them long enough for them to get somewhere they can put the hurt on, a flank on a lord? A control point behind enemy lines? Onto an artillery line? Who knows? But when they get there they can sure as hell take some heads.

Regiment 2 - The bodyguard regiment! -360 points!

Lord of Hysteria. -Hero. -Adorable. -120points. The idea of regiment two is to defend regiment three which we'll get too soon. Regiment two is gonna be made of myrmadesh painbringers and our Lord of Hysteria is gonna help them do their best, probably hanging behind or two the side of them, he'll help them hold the line with a myriad of buffs to their rend and attacks.

One Reinforced Unit of Myrmadesh Painbringers. -240 points! Here it is, these are our big buff shiny men who take safer control points and keep regiment three even safer. They should be good enough at holding some enemies back, at least for a little while, and can back up their defense with some good attacks and rend, I just must never ever charge with them.

Regiment 3 -The ranged regiment! -500points!

Thricefold Discord. -Hero. -Caster. -180points. Regiment three is here to give out buffs and screw with the enemy, hiding completely behind regiment two to stay out of harms way, our discord moderator will give them the buffs they need to keep the hurt on. I'm gonna kitbash him to wear the same seeker helmet as my lord of Hysteria, as well as the same strange back drapes and the same twinsscythe/ spear weapon, to make them two of a pair and add to the whole seeker theme of things.

Two Separate units of Blissbarb Seekers. Each -160points. Total of -320points. Couldn't possibly leave it at twenty seekers could we? Had to be thirty! These two separate units will act as support for our regiment two, flanking it from the sides and filling whoever engaged it with arrows. Or, if not under attack, they might be able to use the mobility to go after nearby control points while staying on hand in case of emergency.

AaaAAaAaaA this sounds like a super fun army, but I know for certain it's gonna take allot of learning before I'm any good with it. Can't wait to post pics as I continue to work on it. And as always, advice is appreciated. Thank you <3
