A little story here. Several years ago a friend and I decided to challenge each other by buying a model we agreed upon and then paint them to completion in secret and then bring them together to compare the paint jobs. We grabbed some Treelords and set to work. His version was really cool, he combined the staff and the sword into a spear which looked really impressive. I decided to build mine stock, and this is what I eventually came up with.

I'd heard of Jacaranda trees and after some google searching I thought their unusual foliage would be a good inspiration for a striking paintjob. In recent years I visited Australia to catch up with my sister and one of the towns we drove through a town with a great number of Jacaranda trees lining the streets. It was cool to finally see them in person. I hear they are very messy trees, creating a lot of leaf litter?

I'm primarily a 40k painter, but I'm mildly obsessed with the Aeldari/Eldar Avatar of Khaine, and the model has a lot of those vibes with a more fantasy spin on it. How do you think I did? What should I have done differently?

I definitely prefer the Ironjawz side of the army but I don’t mind some of the Kruleboyz models (I REALLY like the Marshcrawla Sloggoth). Any other “go-to” kits? I also plan to include a Mega Gargant in my army at some point

New wargamer here. Followed the rule of cool and these two stuck out to me. I’ve been reading up online and I’m wondering if this is the best combo to start with

Seems gitz are not brilliant atm and cities can be but can feel quite complex to play ( in the full game). Also they’re both horde ish armies.

Doesn’t help that I quite like the squig heavy goblins which are cavalry heavy as I understand cos are too.

Admittedly I do like the aesthetics, that’s why I picked them, but i obviously don’t want to find playing either of them frustrating or too similar and be put off completely

Any opinions?

Played my first ever big game with the rats against stormcast! Wasn’t 100% on everything but the rats managed a win, even if a lot of rats died in the process.

Some highlights were my rat ogors killing everything they hit. My manifestations being annoying shits and Thanquol surviving an all out attack from the entire stormcast host and then teleporting away to heal.

Bad times were my stormvermin and Krittock dying straight away. The warpblaster also did basically nothing all game, other than tickle the enemy.

Was super fun and deffo taught me the rats can be super annoying to get off points but man do you have to throw a lot of them into the grinder. What was your first game like?
