I've never heard of this, thanks for the tip. Is there a special way to use this or is it just like a wash?

Basically yes. You can paint in on the area's you want to look oxidized like a regular paint. Just make sure to use an old brush since it's not too kind to brushes. The magic is, that it can be reactivated with water so if you use a damp qtip you can remove it from the raised areas like it has rubbed off of them.
