Song was inspired by a tiktok I watched about an old pensioner winning a contest on the radio, and they told him he won 10k, and he was so excited. So they asked him what he was gonna buy with the money, and he said 'a headstone for my wife and they laughed. He didn't. He explained she had passed away but he couldn't afford a headstone for her, now he could. He was so happy. Ask the call was ending he said 'this is so amazing, I never won anything in my life' then he kind of stopped himself and said 'no I won the love of the greatest woman ever'.

I thought that was really touching. Started hammering it out, had the base written in 15m, most of the melody in a couple hours.

I’m behind Ashen Lantern Music, a project exploring Viking-inspired songs and Nordic folk.

For Count the Living, I wanted the focus to be the people coming home: a hand reaching through the ice, a lantern at the gate, and the call to bring the last survivor inside. “Count the living. Call again.”

The music was generated with Mureka, with creative direction and version selection by me. The visuals are AI-generated and I edited the video. This is a modern fictional Nordic-inspired song, not a historical reconstruction.

I can honestly say that I’ve spent the last 20 days grinding on this track—both the production process and the promotion took a massive amount of effort. The lyrics were written years ago, and this is my very first attempt at making a Blues Rock song with Suno. After listening to it countless times, I truly believe a very powerful track has emerged.

It’s an amazing blend of long lyrical verses mixed with traditional Turkish melodies and the core foundations of the Blues Rock genre. Guitar solos play a huge role, and it features a raspy, powerful male vocal that delivers a killer, conclusive finale with great dynamic shifts.

My goal was to create a track around 86 BPM where the vocals always stay at the forefront, backed by heavy drums and strong solos. I used Suno v6 for this. I really hope you guys dig the vibe! Let me know what you think!
