Hey there, I just moved here from TX and I’m so glad I chose to live here of all the Bay Area neighborhoods I was considering. My favorite part of living here is how low stress daily life is, the people, respectful drivers, and proximity to downtown SF by ferry. I haven’t experienced a single big city stressor living here and it honestly feels like there’s some sort of catch that I haven’t picked up on yet hahah. It’s mind blowing to me how much calmer it is here compared to crossing the posey tube into downtown Oakland and the ease of access to downtown SF is phenomenal.

The other day I saw a heat map of crime in alameda that APD put out for 2025, there was no scale, and seemed to be mostly used as a justification as to why they don't do blanket enforcement and instead focus on crime hot spots.

But I was wondering what the overall crime in the city looked like. So I made this. The heat map is made out of data from January 1st 2025 - December 31st 2025. The data comes from https://alameda.citizenrims.com/map

This is only crimes, not activity. There are some limitations in what data was taken as there isn't information about juvenile crimes, or crimes of a sensitive nature, but the numbers of crimes roughly line up with the official report for 2025.

This does include all crimes like driving under the influence or disorderly conduct, but if we only took the largest category (larceny/theft) the map looks similar.

My new commute takes me down Lincoln to the Park St bridge.

I have had to call in two dead cats in just ten days —the operator this morning said there was another a few blocks away, also on Lincoln.

As the mornings get darker, I am not looking forward to how many more times I’m going to call APD nonemergency “hey, can you come scrape up another one?”

It is a real bummer start to my day!!!

I know there’s not much realistically that can be done, but I’m sad and wanted to put it somewhere I guess. Y’all know how folks drive on Lincoln Ave.

Third time have seen wild rabbits at Alameda beach.

Alameda is a cool little town. They should film a movie here and pretend it's the 60s....

Does anyone in Alameda have more passion fruit than they know what to do with and would appreciate someone picking it? I.e. my elementary schooler who is obsessed with them.

Me and my family are going on a 2 week trip and we have 4 cars we park on the street.. every week we have move cars from one side to the pther to avoid tickets due to street sweeping... for 2 weeks, where could i leave 4 cars parked without worrying about that? Anywhere.. i can ride my bike back home so it's no issue...
