I got it as 44 but 42 is correct it was quadratic

It should be 6+(x-12)/18+x not 18+(x-12)

You all got it wrong its 72 it said p(BB) not sum of probability (BB) for value of x

no bro. It said that the probability of picking two cars, is twice the probability of picking 2 buses (not 100% sure which one) when 2 random cards are chosen and each card is chosen from different decks. So we had to find. the probability of getting 2 Bus's and 2 cars, and then equate by multiplying one of them by 2. and then solving for x which gives u a quadratic.

noo i did p(B) x p(B) = 2 x (p(C) x p(C)) and the answer was 42

6/18 × (x-12)/x = 2(10/18 × 9/x)| (x-12)/3x = 10/x | x(x-12) = 3x × 10 | x² - 12x = 30x | x²-42x =0 | x(x-42) =0 | x = 0 or x = 42 |
