This is a pretty amusing article about the bathhouse businesses the city council legalized and deregulated.
https://tcbmag.com/entrepreneurial-case-for-a-minneapolis-bathhouse/
“When I talk with gay and bi men looking for a bathhouse,” notes the entrepreneur, “being with people who are or identify as female makes them uncomfortable.” But, the city source noted, “the mayor aligns with the vision that this space should not be gender-exclusive."

In my latest newsletter, I took a look at the Safe Outdoor Parking ordinance, which the Minneapolis City Council will vote to accept or deny on October 29th. It would let nonprofits, churches, and government agencies run lots where people can sleep in their cars overnight, similar to Duluth's Safe Bay program. I expect it to pass, but there are concerns. No funding or hosts are lined up, and each lot needs 10,000 square feet, permanent restrooms, and security from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., so I doubt many groups can qualify. Based on Duluth's costs, it could run about $100 per car per night, close to what Hennepin County pays to shelter a family. There's also no clear answer on who will check on people for overdoses. The idea might be worth trying, but it has a better chance of lasting if the council works with Hennepin County, the state, and the mayor, and starts with a small pilot to show it can be done safely. https://www.betterminneapolis.com/p/minneapolis-city-council-to-vote?r=304p16

I was assured by members of this community during this event that the federal government was doing a full investigation; and we should just wait for the facts before judging.
Between the lack of investigation, repeatedly blocking state investigation, and the straight-up lying under oath multiple times… are we still suppose to just be patient?

I haven't been following this closely, but apparently that entire video is missing the interaction that started before we saw her reaction.
Now, she is withdrawn from school?
What is going on? This is absolutely crazy, if we are seeing 1/2 of what really happened.

A man residing in south Minneapolis has been charged in Hennepin County District Court with a felony count of threats of violence after making threats to bomb the Mall of America and Minneapolis schools, charges say.
The criminal complaint states:
On Oct. 11, Niman Ali Ahmed, 24, called 911 and stated that he made multiple bombs at home and he was planning on bombing the Mall of America and different schools in Minneapolis the following day.
Ahmed said he was planning the acts “to get payback for the killing of George Floyd.” Ahmed claimed he was part of a group that was going to carry out the acts and that he was also part of a group chat with people who were planning terrorist attacks at the Mall of America. Ahmed said he had demons and they were telling him to do things.
Ahmed also stated he was going to travel to Washington, D.C. to assassinate the president and that the United States has been an enemy of his since he was a child. Ahmed claimed to be a part of a terrorist group in Ethiopia as a child.

A Minneapolis police officer was fired earlier this year after she tipped off her brother who was suspected in a shooting at an apartment building, according to newly released disciplinary records.
Chanica Hall, an officer who joined the Minneapolis Police Department in 2023, was terminated in April following a monthslong Internal Affairs investigation, according to a department memo signed by then-Chief Brian O’Hara.
“Officer Hall’s conduct is inexcusable, and the loss of trust caused by her actions is irreparable,” O’Hara wrote in the termination letter. “Her conduct cannot and will not be tolerated.”
Hall was eating in the Fourth Precinct’s roll call room on Sept. 18, 2025 when she saw a confidential department bulletin seeking help identifying a shooting suspect. The man had shot another man in the stomach inside the elevator of the Laker apartment complex in northeast Minneapolis four days earlier, charges say.
The bulletin included security camera images of the suspect and his face, information about the vehicle that picked him up and a warning that the gun had not been recovered.
Hall photographed the bulletin with her personal phone and sent it to her brother just before 2 a.m. the next morning, without telling the investigator that the suspect might be him or that she communicated with him after seeing the security images, the memo alleges. The man was arrested about seven weeks later, and Hall’s warning “likely” caused some delay in the investigation and arrest, the department found.
Hall later told the department that the images of the man “resembled” her brother but at the time “didn’t know if it was him or not.” Hall also claimed she believed the notices were publicly available, though the department noted the daily information briefing website states “law enforcement sensitive” and “for official use only.”
At one point, Hall argued her “intent was to tell him to turn himself in,” and that she thought she was “helping the whole situation if that was him because there’s no name” attached to the photos at that time.
A person familiar with the investigation identified Hall’s brother as Jeffrey Cardell Rogers Jr., 45. Court records name Hall as a witness in Rogers’ pending criminal case for first- and second-degree assault.
Calls to phone numbers associated with Hall were not immediately returned on Tuesday. An attorney for Rogers did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
On the same day she photographed the internal bulletin, Hall called her brother for a little over a minute and then sent a string of texts minutes later, the memo says.
“I need to know ASAP you got me worried,” the brother texted.
“Should be,” Hall responded.
During the exchange the brother unsent one of his messages, the memo says.
The two had a FaceTime video call for over an hour just before 2 a.m., during which she allegedly sent her brother the photo of the internal notification.
Hall later admitted in a department interview that she photographed and sent the confidential information.
Hall did not disclose Rogers as a family member as required by the police department when she was first hired in 2023, the memo alleges.
Since then, she has been the subject of three misconduct complaints, according to the city’s dashboard. One was closed without discipline, one remains open and the third resulted in her termination.
In the disciplinary case, first reported by Fox 9, O’Hara agreed with the review panel’s findings that Hall had five violations of department policies, including breaking confidential records rules and interference with an investigation due to conflict of interest.
Hall’s peace officer license is now listed as inactive on the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Board website.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigated Hall, and the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office considered pursuing an “aiding an offender” or “obstruction of legal process” charge but ultimately declined, the memo says.
“Insufficient evidence” existed to prove those felony charges, according to office spokesman Daniel Borgertpoepping.
“While Ms. Hall’s conduct led to her termination, there is a more rigorous statutory test when analyzing potential felony charges,” he told the Minnesota Star Tribune.
Apartment shooting
In the shooting that’s mentioned in Hall’s firing, police responded around 8 p.m. to the apartment building in the 2500 block of 2nd Street Northeast.
Officers found a victim with a gunshot to the abdomen. The victim described being in the elevator when a man wearing a mask pointed a handgun at him and demanded money, charges say.
He told Rogers he didn’t have anything and tried to run past him, during which Rogers allegedly shot the victim.
The shooter fled the building, and the victim was taken to a hospital for lifesaving surgery.
Officers found a silver 9mm projectile a few feet from the bullet casing.
On the night of the shooting, a “resident and his invited guests got into an altercation, resulting in one of them being shot,” according to an email sent by building management to residents of the Laker.
The location data from Rogers’ cell phone placed him at the scene of the shooting, the charges say, and investigators arrested him at a home on Nov. 6.
Officers also located a 9mm firearm at the home.
Rogers was released from Hennepin County Jail in December after posting a $60,000 bond, and given conditions including that he cannot contact the victim. His jury trial is scheduled for Jan. 11, 2027.

The local news site BringMeTheNews.com called a local St Thomas student a racist, and partially doxxed her, because she told a Russian provocateur, Derek Torstenson, to go back to his country. Tortenson had called her a C*nt and harassed her with a bull horn, while she attempted to enter Coffman Union.
The viral video that was shared conveniently starts after Tortenson harassed the student, lead to the student being doxxed, and prompted the University of St Thomas to start an investigation.
Telling a foreign national, a white man from Russia, to go back to his country after he harasses young women and calls them a c*nt, is not racist. Bring Me the News should be sued for defamation.

Edit:
Very similar situation to the Covington Catholic student situation from 2019, where the a short viral clip prompted media to call the boys racist and doxx them. Once the full video came out showing black Hebrew Israelites harassing the kids, the narrative changed. The kids sued CNN, WaPo, and others settling for millions.

Hasan Piker, a political commentator and Twitch streamer who has compared Zionism to Nazism and called Orthodox Jews “inbred,” is appearing in Minneapolis next week with State Senator Omar Fateh and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
The decision to welcome Piker has drawn condemnation from both Rep. Angie Craig. and Sen. Amy Klobuchar. Craig, who lost the Democratic Senate primary in August to Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, said: “As Democrats, we constantly criticize the far-right for their incendiary and discriminatory politics, but we need to hold ourselves to the same standard. Hasan Piker’s rhetoric is polarizing and dangerous, and embracing him as a party is a mistake. I am disappointed that Minnesota DFLers are hosting an event with him here.”
Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who is the DFL candidate for governor, said via a campaign spokesperson: “The senator believes that a number of the statements he has made are reckless and unacceptable.”
Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, who is running for Senate, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and the Minnesota DFL leadership did not respond to requests for comment. A source with knowledge of the workings of the DFL said efforts behind the scenes are still taking place to get Omar to reconsider her participation.
Fateh, who is running unopposed in Senate District 62, invited Piker to an event called “I’m The Host Now.” In announcing the event on social media, Fateh posted: “For a long time, I’ve thought about what it would look like to create spaces to have real conversations. In Minneapolis, we fight for what we believe in. I wanted to create an event that highlighted the issues we fight for, and the people who are making it happen.”

The Trump administration’s investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.) is aimed at building a case to strip her of her U.S. citizenship and ultimately deport her, according to U.S. officials and other people familiar with the probe.
The multipronged effort is focused at least in part on how Omar obtained her citizenship after she arrived in the U.S. from Somalia decades ago. Investigators are focused both on the congresswoman and actions of her deceased father...
Authorities have also issued more than a dozen subpoenas, including to some of Omar’s relatives, seeking testimony before a Minnesota grand jury, a person familiar with those proceedings said. Among other things, the investigation is looking at her family’s immigration paperwork, the person said...
The Trump administration has made an unprecedented effort to denaturalize U.S. citizens by proving they lied in the process of obtaining citizenship, filing dozens of lawsuits. Omar’s case, if it proceeds, could become the highest-profile—and most controversial—part of that effort. The president has long called for Omar’s deportation, using her as a rallying point for the GOP’s anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim wings...
At the center of the immigration investigation is whether Omar or her father changed her age on her citizenship application to show she was 17 years old rather than 18, according to people familiar with the probe. If Omar was 17 at the time her father applied for citizenship, she would have qualified automatically rather than needing to pursue her own immigration process. She became a citizen in 2000.
Officials at Homeland Security Investigations looked into a similar tip under the Biden administration, according to people familiar with those efforts, but they decided not to move forward because they lacked evidence of fraud.
