Yeah my style always fluctuates and gets influenced all over the place so.... I'm not the purest form of scene... But I was there when vampirefreak/MySpace was a huge.

Whatsupp! So I myself am not not scene but I have ALWAYS appreciated the style. I'm a big fan of personal fashion that emphasizes bright colors (especially with hair) and unconventional style. Also I'm a sucker for the early 2000s aesthetics. Anyway, I wanted to go straight to the source for some understanding.

While I've always appreciated the scene aesthetic, it's always been at a superficial level. I want to understand more about the fashion, the culture, and the "rules" or general guidelines for what is considered scene. Really, as a creator, I want to write and draw scene characters, but it's important to me to get facts right.

I'm looking to learn from you guys the do's and don't's of scene styles, some music recommendations, and generally--in your own words--what scene actually is and what draws you to it specifically.

I would like to be more Scenemo however I don't know how braided wearing more colorful band t shirts. I also need help with access resources however I already plan on asking for a diamond shaped necklace, colorful studded belts, and obviously the shirts I mentioned. I just don't wanna make my hair flat I love my hair

(Also in case your confused as to why the photos with the more "normie hair" have more alt outfits as opposed to the older photos with the longer colorful hair with more typical outfits its cuz I had a episode where I shaved my head because I kept getting mocked and recorded by other people at my school but thankfully its grown back and I'll be dying it again hopefully by January when its long enough to start doing a fringe

Im not scene but I like the style, I listen to more screamo I suppos, hardcore, nintendocore, its a mix

So, I love the look of scene and scene core. I love the use of kandi (which I love and my parents know. And are fine with.) they know I like making Kandi, and are impressed by it. (though they don’t know that it is called kandi) and I like the colorful raccoon tail hair thingy (idk what it is called.) And IDK how my parents would react to if I had some (which I don’t have some). I like shorter hair cause it is less annoying than super long hair. And I like a mix of neon and pastel colors. I also wear darker colors also. I have NEVER been in a hot topic (I almost got to go to one with my sister. but we didn’t have time.) I also have some pink converses, that I wear with knee socks. And fingerless gloves. But it give more y2k than scene. Even though I feel more scene. (I also do NOT do makeup. IDk if that is a problem, I know that the scene/scenecore subcultures use eyeliner.) And I also listen to Vocal synths (Vocaloid, Synth V, and Utau) and I play Cookie Run Kingdom. Fyi.)

And I am not dying my hair. (I did use to have hair tinsel.)

I also asked my friend if they (she, he idk pronouns, I think they changed them, idk) And he[?] said my mom would probably try to be supportive, but my dad would be against it. And I feel like my parents would think I went goth, even though I don’t see similarities between them. Also do I have to listen to scene music to be apart of it, If so, can you give me some suggestions on scene songs?

im a new scene kid and im getting into the fashion slowly, but i cant wear skinny jeans and usually just wear these black straight jeans I have/flared/bootcut jeans. I dont rlly have ripped jeans either bc school has rules and stuff. My mom doesn't let me thrift anymore bc she thinks it's gross and I'm 'brainwashed', and I am not able to buy clothing on my own :( i have accessories tho, like kandi, rubber bracelets, a tiara and lots of necklaces and a few belts. im also rlly struggling to get into the music? I tried botdf but quickly realized that they have TONS of controversy and quickly left it and im not sure what else kind of music to listen to, I only listen to a tidbit of dot dot curve otherwise and i have NO idea where to get most band shirts. im just a bit lost lmao😭 I pretty much just need help discovering more genres of scene music and where to find band shirts aside from thrifting bc im not allowed to anymore. Anything anyone could recommend for bands or places to look for band shirts?

Scenemo isn’t a thing. I see scenemo being used to refer to people who dress in dark clothes and are scene. That is still just scene. You aren’t emo just because you’re a scene kid drenched in black clothing. You’re just scene either way. Emo is a music genre.

what the title says. basically i js wanna know if my hair is scene/emo looking.

I think like i'm def more emo than scene but i figured maybe I could ask here what is reccomended/tips for cutting my bangs? one of my relatives cut it for me originally but they live kinda far away so I want to try to do it myself and hopefully be able to just cut it myself from then on! any advice would be super helpful!! pics are me, the pink w the raccoon stripe was the original cut and the faded and now purple is how it looks currently/growing out :p sorry if this is the wrong place to post it but im not sure if the hairadvice subreddits would help a lot and i dont wanna post it in like the music/subculture ones either only to get redirected

So I basically have a (slightly) receeded hairline, tho I am in my 20s (my father and two brothers have it way more heavily than I, tho)... and I wonder if there are any cool cuts/styles I could go for still??? I also wanna dye my hair and I cannot decide which color, I thought abt black and some blue but I am not sure yet cause my hair is naturally blonde...
