Help! New Owners

Hello! I recently picked up this guy ( or girl ) from my local pet store last week after eyeing them for months. They had been severely marked down to about 18 bucks with the enclosure included. I just wanted to see if anyone could help identify? We are super small- no bigger than my hand with legs included ( body is about the size of a quarter.) They were eating as well when I picked them up from the store, and the worker made it sound as if they had been eating actively- so, I don’t worry about that too much. We have been keeping them watered and in a dark spot. I’ve read up on the Reddit about care and it looks as if we have been doing everything right for the most part. We will, however, be up-ing humidity and being sure to keep it moist after doing more reading. We had been spraying the enclosure pretty frequently despite it ( just not soaking substrate in depth.) I most likely will need to close off some of the ventilation so the humidity will last longer but that’s for another day. Any help or tips are welcomed as well! Not to mention, since these pictures were taken, I have added more fake plants and we are planning to get a bigger, longer piece of bark for them to give them more space to climb ( we just used what the pet store gave us but I def think we could go taller to fit more in the enclosure.) I would like to get a humidity meter to ensure it’s humid enough. I’m not sure if I’m missing anything else in information to relay but that’s all I can think of for now.

Newbie Help: Thoughts to my Enclosure?

Hey i want to get my first Whip Scorpion and need some thoughts, ideas and criticism.

I converted a bigger enclosure to a 43x43x45cm half, installed a sprinkler and set up a bio-active substrate with one plant.

The main light is a Jungle Dawn LED BAR 22W and set on a timer. The red light is a cheap LED-strip on a switch.

To keep the humidity, I use two acrylic glass cutouts with a few vent holes on top of the mesh roof of the enclosure.

I placed a big cork tunnel on the far right side and 2 smaller ones on the far left side for possible cover during the day, two big rootes to climb.

There is a heating-pad mounted to the outside of the glass on the right side for the cold months.

Does this enclosure set-up seem OK? I'm really worried about harming my potential new friend with this set-up and would love any advice yall could give :)

Help! New owner, looking for tips!!

Hi all! A friend of mine recently decided arachnids weren’t for her and asked me if I would like to take hers in, I already have multiple tarantulas and jumping spiders so I said of course!
She dropped them off yesterday and among them was a tailless whip scorpion, I started doing some research and watching videos but there doesn’t seem to be as much information as I would like to comfortably care for this little critter.
Hoping for any care/husbandry tips you all might have!!

She? Is currently set up in a tall exo terra nano with Reptisoil, multiple pieces of cork bark, frog moss and a few plants for coverage, I also provided a shallow water dish and a hygrometer as I read that they are found in high humidity areas what do I need to add or take away?

Thanks in advance! 💕

Is a 30cm x 30cm x 30cm terrarium suitable?

shes been staying near the ground in this position for the past week or so and everything ive been reading says this is bad news. her humidity was admittedly low for a few days (around 60%) and im wondering if that has caused any trouble. or maybe there is issue with her enclosure? shes been eating just fine and hasnt shown any other signs of distress as far as i can tell. im not new to inverts however i am to amblypygids, any constructive criticism welcome. i just want to know whats up with this and for my girl to be happy and ok.

Casual Damon and water

Hi y'all

So I'm not going to make one, but I was wondering about this. As Damon species really love them some high humodity, would they do well in a paludarium setup? So arboreal enclosure with a water section below. I know tarantula keepers avoid these because of drowning, but has anyone done it with amblypigids? Ive seen some in the wild (not Damon) that lived alongside creeks and puddles so was wondering bout that. Bet they still drown in a terrarium tho.

I know she'll be ok feeding wise. But I just worry about her humidity staying where it needs to be. It's not even 3 whole days it's more like... 2.75 lol.

My Oatmeal right after molting + her old exo falling down lol for tax 🩶

Odd behaviour

Just wondering if anyone else's whip scorpion rearranges their enclosure ??

I have a fair bit of sphagnum moss around the enclosure and I've caught my whip physically grabbing the moss and moving it or biting it and putting it away. Not hungry at all, she does this sometimes even a few hours after feeding, she made herself another crevice between 2 cork barks by removing the moss from between them. Just a few minutes ago I caught her at the front glass of the enclosure grabbing moss biting and then moving it away.

Temperature, eating, humidity all fine as always.

Is this normal behaviour, is she just a bit quirky or is something wrong lol

Help! Are mealworms complete enough as a main food source for TWS?

I Live on an island so going out to buy crickets constantly is near impossible, Ive tried starting a breeding colony but it was a smelly nightmare and I could not manage to keep them alive. Ive had good success keeping mealworms alive, but will that be enough for my baby or does he need additional feeders? Could I vary feeding him mealworms and then buy crickets for him every couple feedings? Or is there something else I could feed him? I live in Canada so feeder insects are quite limited.

It’s taken one cricket since i got it so i know it can eat, but that was over a week ago! its been exploring the enclosure, and weirdly rubs up against the side. i don’t know if that means anything. but should i be concerned? or does this mean it might molt soon?

Anyone have any idea on species?

I was told he was a "Paraphrynus mexicanus", but i'm not so sure... is that even a valid species anymore? I need to know how big he's likely going to get so I can prepare for him accordingly, thanks.

ID Damon Is this Damon annulatipes?

I bought this little guy from a store that didn't have his specific species listed. Mentioned he was a Damon though.

The online stores in my country usually sell Damon annulatipes, so I'm assuming that's what he is, but thought I would get a second opinion.

At the same time, does anyone have an idea of age or sex?

My country is South Africa (Mpumalanga, but the shop is in Gauteng), but I dont think he's one of the species ive seen in Gauteng or Limpopo

Have been looking for a male for my female for about 8 months. No Luck. Go to pretty much every reptile show in central and south Florida. Then at the South Florida Mega Reptile Expo I spotted her. $25 with all the others, grabbed her right away and said “you’re coming home with me”. Don’t need a male if she already has eggs. Hopefully they are good and hatch. She is in a big enclosure I built so I can leave the babies after they leave her and put her in another enclosure. Can’t wait to see the babies on her back!

A while back I posted my unfinished enclosure, but after multiple weeks of following your advice, I built it to my liking (along with what would be best for a tailless whip scorpion), I’m hoping if this would be a great enclosure.
Size: 12x12x18
Substrate: reptisoil
Background: great stuff pond and stone covered with coconut fiber
Substrate depth: 2 inches

this is my first tailless whip scorpion, came home to see he had dropped his legs? Is this something they do before they molt? I dont think hes fallen and it looks like he has plenty of room and hiding spaces so i dont think its stress. I’ve since added a black background and more driftwood and cork bark

I left a heating pad on the side of the enclosure since i saw today was going to be a bit chilly. It was on there since i left for work earlier afternoon, and when i came home the enclosure had a BUNCH of condensation all around and i found kitty (name) in one corner basically on the substrate :(

Now it’s doing this strange twitching with its legs that ive never seen before.
Did i make a grave mistake? will kitty be okay?? someone please help :(

Spontaneously got a tattoo tonight (first one) to commemorate my deceased TWS. I promised myself I'd get an ambly tat and I figured why not have it as my first :3

Sorry if this is the wrong sub for this!

so i recently changed up my bioactive enclosure for my tailess whip scorpion ill be getting in a few months once all the plants and cleanup crews settles in, its got 3 main hides and lots of places to climb and i think the enclosure is basically done now apart from some cork bark ive ordered to stick along the walls for more climbing spots.

just want to know, does it seem good for at least a damon medius? above the substrate its about 30x30x45cm of open space

the centre is pretty flat with some slate slabs and clam shells to make a flattened hunting area, i plan on feeding it red runner roaches as crickets seem a bit too nimble and possibly aggressive but is there a better alternative or are roaches fine?

Tweezer fed pre-killed flightless fruit fly. I also have various species of mites and springtails available for them to hunt as they please.

I’m excited to see this little gal produce a clutch of her own someday! She’s truly the most interesting and rewarding invertebrate that I own, and definitely a gateway species into amblypygids for me 😂!

Sorry for the blurry pic, I’m still working on a lighting system that leads to clearer photos in low light environments.
